5.4 Understanding Zone Types

The KERUI W181 supports 99 defense zones with 8 optional zone types. These types determine how the system reacts when a sensor in that zone is triggered.

Factory Default Zone Types Table
Figure 5: Table of factory default zone types and their corresponding zone numbers.
  • Away Armed Zone (00-59 zones): All zones work on the arming status (away armed or home armed). Recommended for door sensors.
  • Home Armed Zone (60-79 zones): Home armed zones only work on the away arming status. Recommended for PIR motion detectors.
  • Intelligent Zone (80-89 zones): This zone will alarm after being triggered twice within 30 seconds.
  • Help Senior Zone (90 zone): No matter the status, the panel will alarm once a sensor in this zone is triggered, and auto-dial 3 groups of help senior numbers. Recommended for help buttons.
  • Doorbell Zone (91 zone): No matter the status, the panel will ring as "DINGDONG" when a sensor in this zone is triggered. Recommended for doorbell buttons.
  • Welcome Zone (92 zone): When in armed status, the panel will alarm; when in disarmed status, the panel will ring as "Welcome". Recommended for welcome PIR motion sensors.
  • Emergency Zone (93-99 zones): No matter the status, the panel will alarm once being triggered. Recommended for emergency detectors (e.g., smoke/fire, gas detectors).

7.2 General Care

  • Clean the control panel and sensors with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Regularly check the battery status of wireless sensors and replace them as needed.
  • Ensure the SIM card has sufficient credit for GSM calls and SMS.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Cannot connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. Check your Wi-Fi password and signal strength. Try restarting your router and the alarm panel.
  • No alarm notifications: Verify the SIM card is correctly inserted and has credit. Check if alarm phone numbers and SMS numbers are correctly configured in the system settings or app. Ensure the app has notification permissions.
  • Sensors not triggering alarm: Check if the sensor is correctly paired and assigned to an active zone. Ensure the sensor's battery is not low. Verify the zone type is configured to trigger an alarm (e.g., not a doorbell or welcome zone).
  • Wired siren/sensors not working: The W181 control panel does not have wired terminals and cannot connect to wired sensors or sirens. Only wireless accessories are compatible.
  • False alarms: Check PIR motion sensor placement to avoid direct sunlight, heat sources, or moving objects (curtains, pets). Some PIR sensors are pet-immune, but this model's standard PIR may not be.
