5.1 Power On/Off
- To power on: Press the Power button (usually marked with a power symbol ⏻).
- To power off: Press and hold the Power button until the display turns off. The device also features an auto-off function after 10 minutes of inactivity.
5.2 Measurement Modes
The device can display current, maximum (MAX), minimum (MIN), and difference (DIF) values. Use the MODE button to cycle through these display modes.
5.3 Unit Switching (Lux/Fc, ℃/℉)
- To switch illumination units (Lux/Fc): Press the DIF button.
- To switch temperature units (℃/℉): Press the REC button.
5.4 Data Hold
To freeze the current reading on the display, press the HOLD/SET button. Press it again to release the hold function and resume live readings.
5.5 Data Recording
The GM1030C supports both automatic and manual data recording:
- Automatic Recording: The device can automatically store up to 2000 groups of illumination data. Refer to the full user manual for detailed instructions on setting up automatic recording intervals.
- Manual Recording: Up to 60 groups of data can be manually stored. Press the REC button (or a combination with HOLD/SET, refer to the full manual) to save the current reading.
5.6 Screen Backlight
To activate the screen backlight for operation in dark environments, press the Backlight button (usually integrated with the power button or a dedicated light bulb icon). Press again to turn it off.
5.7 Auto-Off Function
The device will automatically power off after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. This duration can typically be adjusted or disabled through the device's settings menu (refer to the full user manual for specific steps).

8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries | Check battery polarity, replace with new AAA batteries. |
| Inaccurate readings | Dirty sensor, sensor not properly connected, or device not calibrated | Clean the sensor surface gently. Ensure the sensor cable is securely connected. If issues persist, consider professional calibration. |
| Display is dim or unreadable | Low battery power, backlight off | Replace batteries. Activate the screen backlight. |
| Data recording issues | Memory full, incorrect recording mode selected | Clear recorded data if memory is full. Review the manual for correct automatic/manual recording procedures. |
9. User Tips
- For consistent readings, ensure the light sensor is positioned correctly and not obstructed.
- When measuring illumination, try to keep the sensor perpendicular to the light source for the most accurate results.
- Utilize the data hold function when taking readings in unstable conditions to capture a specific value.
- The screen backlight is particularly useful in dimly lit environments, but remember to turn it off when not needed to conserve battery.
