1. Introduction

It utilizes Infrared (IR) wireless communication and is compatible with a wide range of HD/4K Smart TVs, including models from Samsung, Sony, Philips, Sharp, Panasonic, Toshiba, Hisense, Skyworth, and Sanyo.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1. Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control.
  2. Insert two (2) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Pairing with Your TV (If not working out-of-the-box)

While the URC-1699 remote is designed for quick compatibility, some TV models may require manual code entry. The setup codes are printed on the back of the remote control. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your TV manually.
  2. Locate the brand of your TV in the table on the back of the remote (see Figure 5).
  3. Find the corresponding 3-digit setup codes for your TV brand.
  4. Point the remote control at your TV.
  5. Press and hold the 'SOURCE' button and the 'Power' button simultaneously until the LED indicator on the remote lights up.
  6. Enter the first 3-digit code for your TV brand using the number pad.
  7. Test the remote's functions (e.g., Power, Volume, Channel). If the TV responds correctly, the setup is complete.
  8. If the TV does not respond or only some functions work, repeat steps 5-7 with the next code for your brand until full functionality is achieved.

4. Operating Instructions

Once successfully paired, the URC-1699 remote functions like your original TV remote. Point the remote directly at your TV's IR receiver for optimal performance. The operating range is typically more than 8 meters.

4.1. Button Functions

  • Power (Red Button): Turns the TV on or off.
  • SOURCE: Cycles through input sources (HDMI, AV, etc.).
  • Number Pad (0-9): Direct channel selection.
  • CH LIST: Displays the channel list.
  • MENU: Accesses the TV's main menu.
  • INFO: Displays program information.
  • TEXT: Activates teletext (if supported by TV).
  • NETFLIX, YouTube, Prime Video, Rakuten TV: Dedicated buttons for quick access to streaming apps.
  • HOME: Returns to the TV's home screen or smart hub.
  • GUIDE: Opens the electronic program guide.
  • Directional Arrows (Up, Down, Left, Right): Navigates menus and selections.
  • OK: Confirms selections.
  • BACK: Returns to the previous screen or menu.
  • EXIT: Exits current menu or app.
  • VOL +/-: Adjusts volume up or down.
  • CH +/-: Changes channels up or down.
  • SMART: Accesses smart TV features.
  • APPS: Opens the applications menu.
  • Mute: Mutes or unmutes the TV audio.
  • Playback Controls (Rewind, Play/Pause, Fast Forward, Stop, Previous, Next): Controls media playback.
  • Colored Buttons (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue): Functions vary depending on the TV and current context (e.g., teletext, interactive features).
  • P.MODE: Picture Mode selection.
  • S.MODE: Sound Mode selection.
  • SUBTITLE: Toggles subtitles on/off.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the remote control with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: Replace batteries when the remote's performance degrades. If the remote will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
  • Storage: Store the remote in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

Remote is not responding:
  • Ensure fresh batteries are installed correctly.
  • Check for any obstructions between the remote and the TV's IR receiver.
  • Make sure you are within the operating range (up to 8 meters).
  • Re-attempt the pairing process using the setup codes (Section 3.2).
Some functions are not working:
  • The current setup code might not be fully compatible with all features of your specific TV model. Try the next available setup code for your brand (Section 3.2).
Dedicated app buttons (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) are not working:
  • Ensure your TV is a Smart TV and has these applications installed and updated.
  • The functionality of these buttons may depend on the TV's operating system and may not be supported by all models, even if the remote is otherwise compatible.
