5.3 ZigBee Gateway Pairing

To integrate the controller into your smart home system, you will need a compatible ZigBee gateway (e.g., Philips Hue Bridge, Amazon Echo Plus, Homey, Conbee II, SmartThings). Follow the instructions provided by your specific ZigBee gateway to add a new device. The controller will typically enter pairing mode automatically when powered on for the first time or after a reset.

Resetting the Controller for Pairing: If the controller does not pair, or if you wish to pair it with a new gateway, long press the 'Reset' button on the device for 5 seconds until the indicator light changes, signaling it is ready for pairing.

6. Operating Instructions

The GL-C-601P controller offers multiple ways to control your LED strips:

6.1 Key Functions on the Device

Diagram showing the key functions of the GLEDOPTO GL-C-601P controller: Reset button, Opt button, Push button, and Indicator light. Descriptions for short press and long press actions are provided for each button.
Figure 6.1: Controller Key Functions
  • Reset Button:
    • Short press: Switches the frequency (see Section 6.4).
    • Long press (5 seconds): Resets the controller to factory settings, useful for pairing.
  • Opt Button:
    • Short press: Switches the current device function/mode (e.g., RGBCCT, RGBW, RGB, CCT, Dimmer).
    • Long press (5 seconds): Accesses power-on status settings (see Section 6.3).
  • Push Button:
    • Short press: Powers the LED strip On/Off.
    • Long press: Adjusts brightness. (Long press increases brightness; release and long press again decreases brightness).
  • Indicator Light: Displays different colors corresponding to the current operating mode.

6.2 Five Mode Switching

The controller supports five distinct modes for different LED strip types. Short press the 'Opt' button to cycle through these modes:

  • RGBCCT
  • RGBW
  • RGB
  • CCT (Color Temperature)
  • Dimmer

6.3 Power-off Memory Function

The controller offers two optional power-on behaviors after a power failure:

  1. Remember State: The lights will return to their last on/off state and brightness/color settings.
  2. Lights Up by Default: The lights will turn on to a default setting (e.g., full brightness white) regardless of their state before power loss.

To switch between these modes, long press the 'Opt' button for more than 5 seconds. The indicator light will flash blue 3 times to confirm the change.

Illustration of the power-off memory function, showing two modes: 'Remember the state of the on/off before power failure' and 'Lights up by default when powered on'. Instructions indicate long pressing the 'Opt' key for more than 5 seconds and observing the indicator light flashing blue 3 times.
Figure 6.3: Power-off Memory Function

6.4 Frequency Settings

The controller allows for one-touch frequency switching to adapt to different power supplies and reduce noise. Short press the 'Reset' button to cycle through the frequencies:

Frequency Flashes
600Hz 1 time
800Hz 2 times
1000Hz 3 times

6.5 App Control

Once paired with a ZigBee gateway, you can control the LED strip via your smart home app. This typically allows for:

  • Adjusting 16 million colors.
  • Setting brightness levels (1% to 100%).
  • Adjusting color temperature (2700K–6500K).
  • Creating and activating custom scenes.

6.6 Voice Control

With a compatible ZigBee gateway and voice assistant (e.g., Amazon Alexa), you can control your lights using voice commands. Examples include:

  • "Alexa, turn on the living room light."
  • "Alexa, set to purple."
  • "Alexa, increase to 70%."

6.7 2.4G RF Remote Control (Optional)

If you are using a GLEDOPTO 2.4G RF remote control (sold separately), you can control the LED strip directly without a ZigBee gateway. The remote typically offers:

  • On/Off control.
  • Brightness and color adjustments.
  • Scene memory functions (S1, S2, S3, S4 buttons). Long press a scene button to save the current settings; short press to activate a saved scene.

6.8 Mix Mode (RGB + White Light)

The Mix mode allows you to blend RGB colors with white light for unique lighting effects. This is particularly useful for RGBCCT and RGBW strips.

  • When the color loop in your app moves to the edge, only the RGB light turns on.
  • When the color loop moves to the middle, both the RGB light and White light turn on together, allowing for richer, more nuanced colors.
Illustration of RGB+White Light Mix mode. The top image shows the app color wheel with the selector at the edge, resulting in only RGB light. The bottom image shows the selector in the middle, resulting in both RGB and White light turning on together.
