6. Setup
6.1. ANENG ST184 Clamp Multimeter Battery Installation
The ST184 requires 2*AAA 1.5V batteries (not included). To install:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the multimeter.
- Open the battery cover.
- Insert two AAA 1.5V batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery cover securely.
6.2. ANENG BT173 Battery Tester Setup
The BT173 Battery Tester does not require its own power supply. It draws power directly from the battery being tested. Simply ensure the battery is properly inserted into the correct detection interface.
7. Operating Instructions
7.1. ANENG ST184 Clamp Multimeter
To power on the ST184, long press the SEL button. The device will automatically enter auto-ranging mode.
7.1.1. Automatic Range
The ST184 features auto-identification of measurement and auto-range recognition. Simply turn on the device, and it will automatically detect the type of measurement and adjust the range.
7.1.2. DC Voltage Measurement
Insert the black test lead into the COM jack and the red test lead into the VΩHz jack. Connect the test leads across the DC voltage source. The display will show the DC voltage. Note: Small errors may occur in common voltage detection.

7.1.3. Buzzer Measurement (Continuity)
To test for continuity, connect the test leads to both ends of the circuit or component. If there is a buzzer sound, the line is continuous. If there is no buzzer, it indicates a break point.

7.1.4. Resistance Measurement
Connect the test leads across the component to measure its resistance. The display will show the resistance value. Use the usual resistance measurement techniques.

7.1.5. Capacitance Measurement
Before measuring capacitance, ensure the capacitor is fully discharged. Connect the test leads across the capacitor. The display will show the capacitance value.

7.1.6. Temperature Measurement
Connect the temperature probe to the multimeter. Place the probe directly on the object whose temperature you wish to measure. The display will show the temperature in °C or °F.
7.1.7. AC Current Measurement
To measure AC current, clamp the ST184 around a single live wire. Do not break the wire. Ensure the wire is placed in the center of the clamp to avoid measurement errors. This method can only measure the current of a single core line (zero line or fire line), not power supply lines containing multiple core wires.

7.1.8. AC Voltage Measurement
Insert the black test lead into the COM jack and the red test lead into the VΩHz jack. Insert the test probes into the live and neutral holes of an AC outlet. The display will show the AC voltage.

7.1.9. Hertz Measurement (Frequency)
To measure frequency, insert the test probes into the live and neutral holes of an AC outlet. The display will show the frequency in Hz.
7.1.10. NCV Tests (Non-Contact Voltage)
Press the NCV button. Bring the clamp head close to a live wire or electrical outlet. If AC voltage is detected, the screen will display "-----" and beep, and the LED will flash red.

7.1.11. Zero Fire Line Identification
Adjust the gear to NCV. Insert one test lead into the hole of the outlet. If the screen displays "EF" and emits a beep with a red LED flash, it is the fire line. If there is no beep, it is the zero line.
7.1.12. Flashlight/Backlight
Long press the NCV/⚡ button to turn on the flashlight. Long press the H/✪ button to turn on the screen backlight. This allows for clear readings in dark environments.

7.2. ANENG BT173 Battery Tester
The BT173 provides dual display of battery level and voltage, capable of measuring a variety of batteries.
7.2.1. Battery Level Detection
Insert the battery into the appropriate detection interface on the BT173. The device will automatically display the battery voltage and a battery bar indicator.

9. Maintenance
9.1. General Care
- Keep the instruments clean and dry. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth if necessary. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Store the instruments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Remove batteries from the ST184 if it will not be used for an extended period to prevent battery leakage.
9.2. Calibration
These instruments are factory calibrated. If you suspect a calibration issue or require professional calibration, please contact ANENG customer service.
10. Troubleshooting
10.1. ANENG ST184
- Instrument does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected and the correct function is selected. For AC current, ensure only a single wire is clamped.
- Display is dim or flickering: Replace batteries.
- Auto power-off: The clamp multimeter is turned off automatically if it is not used within 15 minutes to save power.
10.2. ANENG BT173
- LCD doesn't display: Check whether the battery is in firm contact with the two terminals. The BT173 is powered by the battery being tested.
- Inaccurate battery level: Ensure the battery is correctly inserted into the appropriate slot for its type.
11. User Tips
- When measuring AC current with the ST184, always ensure the measured fluid (wire) is placed in the center of the clamp to avoid length errors. Only measure a single core line (zero or fire line); common electrical appliances' power supply lines are not measured because they contain multiple core wires.
- For the BT173, remember it's battery-free, so if the display doesn't light up, it means the battery you're testing is completely dead or not making proper contact.
