5. Setup & Installation
The intelligent controller is designed for installation on the main gas or water inlet valve. Follow these steps carefully:
-
Find Installation Space: Locate the original gas or water ball valve. Ensure there is sufficient surrounding space for the product installation.
-
Pre-install Mounting Bracket: Install the two pieces of the mounting bracket onto the gas/water pipeline using the M6*30 hexagon machine tapping screws. Do not tighten the screws fully at this stage.
-
Adjust Controller Position: Place the smart valve controller onto the valve. Adjust its position, clamp the rotating arm, and ensure the gas/water wrench is in place. Pay close attention to the installation position of the controller to ensure the output shaft of the manipulator and the center line of the valve shaft are coaxial.
-
Final Tightening and Connection: Tighten the two M6*30 hexagon machine tapping screws securely. Connect the DC power line of the product. Proceed with debugging and testing the valve operation.
Special Note for 4-inch Pipe Diameter:
If the pipe diameter at the installation position is 4 inches, the rubber washer needs to be inserted into the 4 pipes before clamping with the mounting bracket.
6. Connectivity
The Moes Smart Valve Controller is available in two versions: WiFi and Zigbee.
- WiFi Version: This version does not require a separate hub or gateway for connection to your home network and the Tuya Smart Home APP.
- Zigbee Version: This version requires a dedicated Tuya Zigbee gateway (sold separately) to function. The gateway acts as a bridge between the valve controller and your home network/APP.
7. Operation
Once installed and connected to the Tuya Smart Home APP, you can utilize the following features:
7.1 Tuya Smart APP Remote Control
Control your valve from anywhere using the Tuya Smart Home APP on your smartphone. You can open or close the valve with a tap, making it convenient for tasks like watering plants remotely.
7.2 Voice Control
Integrate the valve controller with Amazon Alexa or Google Home for hands-free operation. Simply use voice commands to open or close your water or gas valve.
7.3 Timing Functions
Set flexible schedules to automatically turn the valve ON or OFF at specific times. This is ideal for automating watering systems or managing gas supply.
7.4 Astronomical Schedule
Utilize the astronomical timing function to set schedules based on sunrise and sunset times, providing intelligent control that adapts to seasonal changes.
7.5 Automatic Shut-off for Leaks
When paired with a compatible water leak sensor (sold separately), the smart valve controller can automatically close the water valve upon detection of a leak, preventing potential damage.
7.6 Smart Home Scene Linkage
The controller can be integrated into broader smart home scenes, linking with flood alarms, combustible gas alarms, and other smart appliances for comprehensive automation.
8. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris.
- Periodically check the mounting screws for tightness.
- Ensure the valve mechanism is free from obstructions for smooth operation.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals for cleaning; a soft, damp cloth is sufficient.
- Regularly check for firmware updates through the Tuya Smart Home APP to ensure optimal performance and security.
9. Troubleshooting
- Device not connecting to APP:
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- For Zigbee version, verify your Tuya Zigbee gateway is powered and connected to the network.
- Check your home Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz required for most smart devices).
- Restart the device and try pairing again.
- Valve not operating:
- Check if the device has power.
- Ensure there are no physical obstructions preventing the valve from turning.
- Verify that the command was successfully sent from the APP or voice assistant.
- Check the coaxial alignment of the controller's output shaft and the valve shaft.
- Voice control not working:
- Confirm that the device is correctly linked to your Alexa or Google Home account in the Tuya APP.
- Check your voice assistant's internet connection.
- Ensure you are using the correct voice commands.
10. User Tips
- Optimal Installation: Take your time during installation to ensure perfect coaxial alignment between the controller and the valve shaft. This prevents strain and ensures smooth, reliable operation.
- Regular Testing: After initial setup and periodically thereafter, test the remote control and timing functions to confirm the valve operates as expected.
- Gateway Placement (Zigbee): For Zigbee versions, place your Tuya Zigbee gateway centrally within your home to ensure strong signal coverage for all Zigbee devices, including the valve controller.
- Leak Sensor Integration: Consider purchasing a compatible water leak sensor to fully utilize the automatic shut-off feature for enhanced home protection.
