Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the MOES Tuya BT Intelligent Dual Power Controller (Model: BAT-80A). This device is designed to automatically switch between two power supply systems, typically a utility grid and an off-grid solar/wind power system, to ensure continuous power supply and optimize energy usage.
The controller facilitates flexible power transfer based on user-defined parameters, such as battery voltage levels, and supports remote control via the MOES and Tuya applications.
Product Overview
The MOES BAT-80A is a second-generation intelligent automatic transfer switch featuring enhanced capabilities for smart energy management. It is compatible with various battery types and offers adjustable set-points for seamless power transitions.

Setup and Installation
Before installation, ensure all power sources are disconnected to prevent electrical shock. The controller requires connection to a battery system for power and data acquisition.
Wiring Diagram
The following diagram illustrates the typical connection for the dual power controller in an off-grid solar/wind system. Ensure all connections are secure and follow local electrical codes.

Connection Points:
- Public Power (L, N): Connect to the utility grid input.
- Output (L, N): Connect to your household load.
- Inverter (L, N): Connect to the output of your solar/wind inverter.
- Battery (+, -): Connect to your battery bank.
Initial Power-Up
- Connect the battery to the controller. The controller will power on using battery power.
- Connect the utility grid and inverter outputs to their respective inputs on the controller.
- Connect your loads to the controller's output.
APP Connection (MOES/Tuya)
To enable remote control and monitoring:
- Download the MOES or Tuya APP on your smartphone.
- Ensure the controller is powered on.
- Open the APP and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new device.
- Connect via Bluetooth (BT). Note: Remote control requires a Tuya BT gateway (not included).
Operating Instructions
The BAT-80A controller operates primarily in automatic mode, managing power transfer based on configured settings. It also features a manual switch function for user convenience.
Automatic Transfer Mode
The controller automatically switches between the utility grid and your off-grid system based on the battery voltage set-points:
- When the battery voltage drops below the configured "Battery Low Voltage Transfer Set-Point", the controller will automatically switch the load to the utility grid. This protects your battery from over-discharge.
- When the battery voltage recovers and rises above the configured "Battery Recovery Set-Point", the controller will automatically switch the load back to the inverter (solar/wind power).
The APP allows you to monitor these states and adjust parameters remotely.

Manual Switching
The controller includes an updated manual switch function, allowing you to manually override the automatic transfer for specific situations.
AC Test Function
The device features an AC test function. If the inverter AC output is abnormal, the controller will automatically switch to public power to maintain continuous supply to the load.
LCD Display
The large LCD display shows critical information:
- Battery real-time voltage
- Working status of public power (grid)
- Working status of inverter
- Current, power, and power consumption of the load
Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Dual Power Controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are tight and free from corrosion.
- Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure the controller is installed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
- Firmware Updates: Check the MOES/Tuya APP regularly for any available firmware updates for the device to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Dual Power Controller, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Controller Not Powering On: Ensure the battery is properly connected and has sufficient charge. The controller is powered by the battery.
- No Automatic Transfer:
- Verify that the "Battery Low Voltage Transfer Set-Point" and "Battery Recovery Set-Point" are correctly configured in the APP or on the device.
- Ensure the recovery voltage is set higher than the cut-off voltage.
- Check the status of both the utility grid and the inverter for any faults.
- APP Connectivity Issues:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
- Confirm that a Tuya BT gateway (not included) is properly set up and within range for remote control.
- Restart the APP and the controller.
- Abnormal Inverter AC Output: The device is designed to automatically switch to public power if it detects an abnormal AC output from the inverter. Check your inverter for any issues.
