1. Introduction and Overview

The TS457 DC5V High-precision Lithium Battery Internal Resistance Meter is a versatile tool designed for accurately measuring the internal resistance and voltage of lithium batteries. This device is ideal for electricians, hobbyists, and anyone needing to assess battery health and performance. It features a clear display, intuitive controls, data storage capabilities, Bluetooth connectivity for app integration, and adjustable settings for enhanced usability.

2. Safety Information

  • DO NOT test AC power with this device.
  • DO NOT test voltages above 45V to prevent damage to the meter and ensure user safety.
  • Ensure proper insulation when connecting wires, especially the yellow charging status wire, which should not be connected normally during operation.
  • Always handle batteries with care and follow battery manufacturer safety guidelines.

5. Setup

5.1 Power Supply Methods

The TS457 offers two primary methods for power supply:

  1. DC 5V Two-Wire Power Supply:

    • Connect the thin red wire to the positive electrode of your DC 5V power source.
    • Connect the thin black wire to the negative pole of your DC 5V power source.
    • The yellow wire indicates charging status and should NOT be connected normally during operation. Ensure proper insulation for this wire if not in use.
  2. 18650 Battery + Power Adapter Board:

    • Utilize an 18650 battery in conjunction with a compatible power adapter board (purchased separately) for portable operation.

5.2 Connecting for Measurement (Kelvin Clamp Method)

For accurate measurements, especially of internal resistance, the AC 4-wire (Kelvin) method is recommended. You will need an XH2.54-4P signal acquisition cable and Kelvin clamps (accessories may need to be purchased separately).

  1. Prepare a 5V power supply or an 18650 battery for the meter.
  2. Connect the XH2.54-4P signal acquisition cable to the back of the meter.
  3. Attach Kelvin clamps to the ends of the signal acquisition cable.
  4. Connect the Kelvin clamps to the positive and negative terminals of the battery or component you wish to test. Ensure good contact.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press the ON/OFF button to power the device on or off.

6.2 Encoder Operation

The device features an encoder knob for efficient and fast operation. Rotate the knob to navigate menus and adjust settings. Press the knob to confirm selections.

6.3 Interface Display

The TS457 features a clear display that shows voltage, resistance, and data. The interface changes based on the measurement status and selected menu.

6.4 Data Storage and Review

The device can store up to 20 sets of internal resistance measurement data. While only the most recent 5 sets are directly viewable on the meter, all 20 sets can be accessed and reviewed through the dedicated mobile application.

6.5 Display Calibration

The TS457 supports voltage and internal resistance display calibration, allowing users to fine-tune measurement results for optimal accuracy.

6.6 Backlight Brightness Adjustment

Customize the screen brightness with 1 to 9 levels of adjustment to suit various lighting conditions.

6.7 Standby Time Settings

The automatic shutdown standby time can be flexibly set from 1 to 9 minutes, helping to extend battery life.

6.8 Bluetooth (BT) Communication and App Integration

The TS457 features built-in Bluetooth communication, allowing it to connect to a dedicated mobile application (e.g., Wuzhi Zhilian APP). The app provides extended functionality, including displaying, setting, and viewing historical data, as well as remote firmware updates.

6.9 OTA Firmware Update

The device supports Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware updates via the mobile app, enabling remote upgrades and customization.

  1. Add the ZK-T459 device to the Wuzhi Zhilian App.
  2. Click on the device icon to enter the normal operation interface.
  3. Click on "OTA". If a new firmware prompt appears, click "Confirm".
  4. The app will go back to the list of application devices, and the "firmware update" option will appear.
  5. Press and hold the knob button on the device to turn on or set up the interface firmware upgrade, and enter the OTA mode interface.
  6. Click on "Firmware Update" in the top right corner of the device list interface of the APP application to enter the OTA operation interface. At this time, the BT connection icon will be displayed on the screen of the device to be upgraded.
  7. Click on 'Get device information', then click on 'Firmware Update'.
  8. The app will automatically complete the firmware upgrade.
  9. The progress bar for the upgrade is displayed as complete, and the APP automatically disconnects the BT connection of the device. Click "" to return to the APP device list interface.

6.10 External Signal Ports

The device reserves NG/OK external signal ports for docking with automation equipment, facilitating automated batch testing, or expanding sound and light alarm prompt modules or other uses.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the screen and casing.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Store the meter in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.

8. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Device does not power on Incorrect power supply connection; Power supply voltage too low/high; Faulty power source. Check power cable connections. Ensure power supply is DC 5V and within limits. Try a different power source.
Inaccurate readings Poor contact with battery terminals; Calibration needed; Environmental interference. Ensure Kelvin clamps have good contact. Perform display calibration (refer to section 6.5). Test in a stable environment.
"oL" displayed on screen Overload or measurement out of range. Ensure the tested voltage is not above 45V and resistance is within 0.1mΩ~7.999Ω.
Bluetooth connection fails App not installed; Bluetooth disabled on phone/device; Device not in pairing mode. Install the Wuzhi Zhilian App. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device. Follow app instructions for pairing (refer to section 6.8).
Firmware update issues Unstable Bluetooth connection; Interrupted update process. Ensure a stable Bluetooth connection during the update. Do not interrupt the process. Retry the update (refer to section 6.9).

9. User Tips

  • Leverage Data Storage: Utilize the 20-group data storage feature for comparative analysis of battery performance over time or across different batteries. Access all data via the mobile app for comprehensive review.
  • Optimize Display: Adjust the backlight brightness (1-9 levels) to ensure optimal visibility in various working environments, from bright workshops to dimly lit areas.
  • Conserve Battery Life: Set the automatic standby time (1-9 minutes) to prevent unnecessary power consumption and extend the operational life of your power source.
  • Stay Updated: Regularly check for and install firmware updates via the dedicated mobile app to ensure your device has the latest features and performance improvements.
  • DIY Integration: For advanced users, explore the reserved NG/OK external signal ports for integration with automation systems or custom alarm modules for specialized testing setups.
