1. Product Overview
The Depusheng ULTRA-DI DI20 is a professional active two-channel DI box designed to connect high-impedance, unbalanced signal sources (such as electric guitars, keyboards, or other audio equipment) directly to a mixing console. It converts these signals into balanced, low-impedance outputs, making them less susceptible to noise and suitable for long cable runs.
Active DI boxes, like the ULTRA-DI DI20, are not affected by impedance considerations, ensuring consistent performance regardless of the connected device's impedance. The product features an extremely high input impedance and a very low, balanced output impedance, minimizing signal degradation and noise.

2. Setup and Connections
Follow these steps to set up your Depusheng ULTRA-DI DI20:
- Power Supply: Connect the 5V DC power supply to the unit. The power indicator will light up.
- Instrument Connection: Connect your instrument (e.g., electric guitar, keyboard) to the CH 1 IN or CH 2 IN input ports using a TS or XLR cable.
- Output Connection: Connect the CH 1 OUT or CH 2 OUT XLR outputs to your mixing console's microphone inputs.
- Link Mode (Optional): If using the DI box as a splitter, connect your instrument to CH 1 IN. The signal will be split into two balanced signals at CH 1 OUT and CH 2 OUT, and an unbalanced signal at CH 1 IN (Link). The unbalanced signal can be connected to an additional amplifier.

3. Operating Controls and Functions

- CH 1 IN / CH 2 IN: These inputs are used to connect unbalanced (TS) as well as balanced (XLR) signal sources to Channel 1 and Channel 2 respectively.
- CH 1 OUT / CH 2 OUT: These are the balanced XLR outputs at mic level for Channel 1 and Channel 2. In Link mode, CH 2 IN and CH 2 OUT function as outputs for the signal from Channel 1.
- ATTENUATION Switch (0 dB, 20 dB, 40 dB): This dampening switch increases the useful operating range of the product. It allows you to attenuate the input signal by 20 dB or 40 dB. Use this switch only if the product, rather than the mixing console preamp, begins distorting. Otherwise, avoid excessive dampening.
- MODE Switch (LINK / 2-CH):
- 2-CH Mode: Two independent signals can be connected to Channel 1 and Channel 2 respectively.
- LINK Mode: The DI box functions as a splitter. One signal fed to the CH 1 IN input can be split into two balanced signals (at CH 1 OUT and CH 2 OUT) and an unbalanced signal at CH 1 IN (Link). The unbalanced signal can be connected to an additional amplifier.
- GROUND Switch (LIFT / GND): This switch allows you to interrupt (LIFT) the grounding between the input and output. This can help eliminate ground loops depending on how other devices connected to your DI box are grounded.
- POWER Switch (ON / OFF): Activates the 5V power supply mode. When the product is connected to a phantom power supply, the 5V operation mode should be set to OFF.
Important Safety Note:
- Never connect pin 2 or pin 3 to pin 1! Never remove the screen protection on pin 1. Otherwise, you will not be able to run the product on phantom power (e.g., phantom power from a mixing console).
- When connecting a tube amplifier to the input of the product, ensure an appropriate load resistance (e.g., a loudspeaker) is connected to the CH 1 OUT (LINK MODE) connector.
4. Troubleshooting
- Distortion: If you experience distortion, try engaging the ATTENUATION switch to reduce the input signal level. Start with 20 dB and increase to 40 dB if necessary.
- Humming/Buzzing (Ground Loops): If you hear a humming or buzzing sound, try flipping the GROUND switch to the LIFT position. This can help break ground loops that cause unwanted noise.
- Howling Sound with 5V Power: If a howling sound occurs when using the 5V power supply, ensure the POWER switch is set to OFF if phantom power is being supplied by the mixing console.
- No Signal: Double-check all cable connections. Ensure the power supply is connected and the unit is powered on. Verify that the correct input and output channels are selected and that the attenuation is not set too high for your signal source.
