Setup and Installation
The TL-M12Q X2 fans are designed for easy, worry-free installation with a wireless splicing mechanism to reduce cable clutter.
1. Wireless Splicing
The fans feature a stable splicing solution where signals and power are transmitted between fans through integrated contacts. This allows for series connection without individual cables between fans.

Figure 2: Wireless Splicing Mechanism
To splice fans:
- Align the contact points on the side of one fan with the corresponding slots on another fan.
- Gently push the fans together until they click into place, ensuring a secure connection.
- Repeat for additional fans if desired.
This mechanism simplifies cable management, allowing you to connect multiple fans in a series with minimal wiring.
2. Mounting the Fans
Mount the assembled fan unit(s) into your PC case using the provided mounting screws. The fans are equipped with double-sided four-corner silicone corner pads to provide shock absorption and reduce vibration noise.

3. Cable Management and Connection
The new power supply module cable simplifies the connection process. Connect the control cable to the side of the fan unit that has pins. Do not attempt to connect it to the other side.

Important Wiring Notes:
- The power supply interface can be connected in series or directly plugged into the corresponding ARGB lighting interface of the motherboard. The two modes (series connection and direct motherboard connection) cannot be used at the same time for the same fan unit.
- The motherboard pin can be used to synchronize the lighting effect mode operation. Refer to the user guide of your motherboard or its corresponding app for detailed instructions on ARGB synchronization.
- The motherboard ARGB synchronization interface has a power supply limit. When connected to the motherboard synchronization mode, the number of devices that can be connected in series to a single interface of the motherboard should not exceed 6.

Operating Instructions
Once installed and connected, your Thermalright TL-M12Q X2 fans will operate automatically based on your motherboard's fan control settings.
Fan Speed Control (PWM)
The fans utilize a 4-pin PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) interface, allowing your motherboard to precisely control fan speed based on system temperature. This ensures optimal cooling performance while minimizing noise when full speed is not required.
ARGB Lighting Control
The fans feature ARGB (Addressable RGB) infinite mirror lighting. This lighting can be controlled and synchronized with other ARGB components via your motherboard's ARGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync) or a dedicated ARGB controller (not included).

Consult your motherboard's manual for specific instructions on configuring ARGB lighting effects.
Maintenance
The Thermalright TL-M12Q X2 fans are designed for long-term, low-maintenance operation.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the fan blades and frame to remove dust buildup. Use compressed air or a soft brush. Ensure the PC is powered off before cleaning.
- Bearings: The fans are equipped with high-precision S-FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) bearings with a sealed structure. These bearings are long-lasting and maintenance-free, requiring no additional lubricant.
- DO NOT DISASSEMBLE: Self-disassembly of the fan unit may result in damage and will void the product warranty.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your fans, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Fans not spinning:
- Ensure the power supply module cable is securely connected to the fan unit and the motherboard's 4-pin fan header.
- Check your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings or fan control software to ensure the fan headers are enabled and configured correctly.
- Verify that the power supply is providing adequate power.
- ARGB lighting not working or incorrect colors:
- Ensure the ARGB cable from the fan unit is correctly connected to a +5V 3-pin ARGB header on your motherboard or a compatible ARGB controller. Note that these fans are not compatible with +12V 4-pin RGB headers.
- Check your motherboard's ARGB software for lighting configuration.
- Confirm that the number of daisy-chained fans does not exceed the motherboard's ARGB header power limit (typically 6 fans per header).
- If using an external ARGB controller, ensure it is powered and configured correctly.
- Excessive noise:
- Ensure all mounting screws are tightened securely to prevent vibrations.
- Verify that no cables or other components are obstructing the fan blades.
- Check fan speed settings in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI or software; high fan speeds will naturally produce more noise.
- Ensure the silicone corner pads are properly seated.

User Tips
- Optimal Airflow: Consider the airflow direction when installing fans. Typically, front and bottom fans should be intake, while rear and top fans should be exhaust for best cooling performance.
- Daisy-Chain Limits: While the wireless splicing simplifies connections, be mindful of the motherboard's ARGB header power limits. If connecting more than 6 fans to a single ARGB header, consider using an external ARGB controller with its own power supply to prevent overloading.
- Software Control: Utilize your motherboard's fan and ARGB control software to customize fan curves for optimal balance between cooling and noise, and to personalize lighting effects.
