1. Introduction

The SURGOAL SN-G80 is a compact and portable digital laser distance meter designed for accurate and efficient measurement of distances, areas, and volumes. 2. Safety Guidelines

This device uses a Class 2 laser (<1mW). Please observe the following safety precautions:

  • Do not stare directly into the laser beam.
  • Do not aim the laser beam at people or animals.

3. Setup

3.1 Package Contents

3.2 Charging the Device

The SN-G80 is equipped with a long-lasting rechargeable lithium battery. To charge:

  1. Connect the included USB Type-C cable to the charging port on the device.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  3. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status.
  4. A full charge ensures extended usage and enhances work efficiency.

3.3 Attaching the Wrist Strap

4. Operating Instructions

The SN-G80 features two main buttons: a red triangle button (Power on/Measure/Switch) and a grid/slash button (Function switching/OFF).

4.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Short press the red triangle button.
  • Power Off: Long press the grid/slash button.

4.2 Measurement Modes

The SN-G80 offers a variety of measurement modes. Short press the grid/slash button to cycle through the modes.

4.2.1 Single Measurement

To perform a single distance measurement:

  1. Short press the red triangle button to turn on the laser.
  2. Aim the laser at the target point.
  3. Short press the red triangle button again to take the measurement. The distance will be displayed on the screen.

4.2.2 Continuous Measurement

For real-time distance updates and to find maximum/minimum values:

  1. Long press the red triangle button to activate continuous measurement mode.
  2. Move the device, and the screen will continuously display the actual distance, along with maximum and minimum values.
  3. Short press the red triangle button again to stop continuous measurement.

4.2.3 Area Measurement

To calculate the area of a surface:

  1. Short press the grid/slash button until the area measurement icon (a square) appears on the display.
  2. Measure the length by short pressing the red triangle button.
  3. Measure the width by short pressing the red triangle button again.
  4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

4.2.4 Volume Measurement

To calculate the volume of a space:

  1. Short press the grid/slash button until the volume measurement icon (a cube) appears on the display.
  2. Measure the length by short pressing the red triangle button.
  3. Measure the width by short pressing the red triangle button.
  4. Measure the height by short pressing the red triangle button.
  5. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

4.3 Unit Switching

To change the measurement units (inches, meters, feet):

  1. Short press the grid/slash button until the unit switch icon appears.
  2. Press the red triangle button to cycle through the available units (in, m, ft) until your desired unit is selected.

4.4 Measurement Reference Switch

You can switch the measurement reference point between the front or back of the device:

  1. Short press the grid/slash button until the reference model icon appears (REF).
  2. Press the red triangle button to toggle between the front and back reference points.

4.5 Data Storage

The device can store measurement histories:

  1. Short press the grid/slash button to navigate to the data storage mode.
  2. Press the red triangle button to scroll through and read stored measurement histories.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery: Recharge the battery regularly, even if the device is not in use, to maintain battery health.
  • Lens Care: Keep the laser lens clean and free from dust or debris to ensure accurate measurements.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device not turning on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a USB-C charger and try again.
  • Inaccurate measurements: Clean the laser lens. Ensure the measurement surface is stable and the laser beam has a clear path. Check the reference point setting (front/back).
  • Laser not visible: The green laser is high-visibility, but in very bright outdoor conditions, it might be less apparent. Ensure you are within the effective range.
  • Display issues: If the display is frozen or unresponsive, try turning the device off and on again. If the issue persists, fully charge the device.
