2. Safety Information

  • Power Source: The input cannot be connected to AC power. Do NOT connect to 220V mains power. This device is designed for DC input only.
  • Step-down Operation: This product is a step-down power supply. The maximum output voltage will be approximately 94.5% of the input voltage. Ensure your input voltage is higher than your desired output voltage.
  • Polarity: Always observe correct input polarity. The module is equipped with input reverse polarity protection, but incorrect wiring can still cause damage or malfunction.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the module, especially during high-power operation, to prevent overheating.
  • Handling: Handle the module with care to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to sensitive electronic components.

5. Package Contents

The XY8050S module is available in different packages:

  • Package A: Adjustable power supply module (main board) x 1, Control header x 1, Connection wires x 2.
  • Package B: Adjustable power supply module (main board only) x 1. (The motherboard can be used independently).

6. Setup and Installation

Careful installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Follow these steps:

  1. Mounting: Securely mount the main board and the control panel in your enclosure. Refer to Figure 5 for recommended opening sizes for the control panel.
  2. Input Power Connection: Connect your DC input power source (12.00V to 90.0V) to the 'IN+' and 'IN-' terminals on the main board. Ensure correct polarity. WARNING: Do not connect to AC power or mains voltage.
  3. Output Load Connection: Connect your load to the 'OUT+' and 'OUT-' terminals.
  4. Control Panel Connection: If using Package A, connect the control header to the main board using the provided wires. The serial communication interface (GND, RX, TX, 5V) is also available for advanced control.
  5. External Temperature Sensor: The module supports a 10k NTC 3950B external temperature sensor interface for enhanced temperature monitoring.

7. Operating Instructions

The XY8050S module is operated via its intuitive control panel and universal buttons.

7.1. Control Panel Buttons

  • VSET Button:

      - Long Press: Quickly call up data set M1.
  • SW Button:
      - Short Press: Enter quick settings.

      - Long Press: Enter or exit the data group settings UI.
  • Encoder Button (Rotary Knob):
      - Short Press: Shift between parameters/digits.
      - Long Press: Lock the button.
  • Power Button (ON/OFF):
      - Short Press: Turn power output on/off.
      - Long Press: Shut down the device.

7.2. Remote Control Operation

The module supports remote control via infrared (IR) and 433M wireless modules (sold separately). This allows for convenient adjustment of settings from a distance.

7.3. MPPT Solar Charging

When connected to a solar panel, the module can utilize its MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) feature to optimize power extraction from the solar panel. Ensure the MPPT hardware switch on the main board is activated (it will illuminate upon activation).

10. Troubleshooting

  • No Power/Display:
      - Check input power connections and ensure the DC voltage is within the 12.00V-90.0V range.
      - Verify the power switch on the main board is in the 'ON' position.
  • No Output:
      - Ensure the output is enabled via the ON/OFF button on the control panel.
      - Check output load connections.
      - Verify that the set output voltage is lower than the input voltage (considering the 0.945 factor).
  • Overheating:
      - Check for obstructions around the cooling fans and heatsink.
      - Ensure adequate ventilation in the operating environment.
      - Reduce the load or input power if the module consistently overheats.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
      - Ensure all connections are tight and free from resistance.
      - If persistent, consider recalibration if supported by firmware or contact support.
  • Remote Control Not Responding:
      - Check the remote control's battery.
      - Ensure the IR or 433M receiver module is correctly connected and within range.
