4. Setup and Connection

The LEGION Y7 controller supports Wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4G wireless connections across various platforms.

4.1 Power On/Off Operation

  • Power On: Short press the 'Y' key to turn on the device.
  • Shutdown: Press and hold the 'Y' key for 5 seconds to shut down. Alternatively, press and hold the 'Y' key for 3 seconds to enter the menu interface, then select "Power off" from the menu. These operations must be performed in wireless mode. Wired connections do not support manual shutdown.
  • Automatic Shutdown: In wireless connection state, the controller will automatically shut down after 5 minutes of inactivity. In the unconnected state, it will shut down after 3 minutes. Wired connections do not automatically shut down.

4.2 Smart Screen Operation Guide

When the controller is in standby mode, press and hold the HOME button for 3 seconds to enter the smart screen operation menu. Use the Left Joystick/Cross Key to navigate and the A key to confirm, B key to return.

4.3 Wired Connection

Connect the controller to the USB interface of your device (PC, Switch, PS4, Android) using the provided USB cable. The controller will display the connection status on its smart screen. 'X' represents Xinput mode (PC), and 'D' represents Dinput mode (Android). PC and Android wired connections default to Xinput mode, while Switch wired connections default to Switch mode. Wired connection protocol does not support iOS devices.

4.4 PC Wired Connection Mode Switching

Simultaneously press the Window key and Menu key for 2 seconds. The controller will vibrate, and the mode abbreviation on the screen will switch (e.g., between Xinput and Dinput).

4.5 PC Bluetooth Connection

  1. Controller Selection Mode: Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Mode", then select "PC" to complete the mode switching.
  2. Pairing: After switching to PC mode, enter pairing mode. On your PC, search for Bluetooth devices and find "Xbox Wireless Controller". Select it to pair and connect. The controller will vibrate upon successful connection.
  3. Reconnection: If the smart screen shows the computer symbol and "Reconnecting", the controller will automatically reconnect to the paired PC.

4.6 Switch Bluetooth Connection

  1. Controller Selection Mode: Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Mode", then select "Switch" to complete the mode switching.
  2. Pairing: After switching to Switch mode, enter pairing mode. On your Switch console, go to "Change Grip/Order" to pair and connect.
  3. Reconnection: If the smart screen shows the Switch symbol and "Reconnecting", the controller will automatically reconnect to the paired Switch.

4.7 2.4G Wireless Dongle Connection

  1. Controller Selection Mode: Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Mode", then select "Dongle" to complete the mode switching.
  2. Pairing: Press the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu settings. Select "Pairing" and press the 'A' key. The homepage will display "Pairing in Progress". Insert the 2.4G receiver into your device (PC, Android TV, etc.) and press the receiver button until its indicator light flashes to pair. The controller will vibrate upon successful connection.
  3. Reconnection: If the smart screen shows the receiver symbol and "Reconnecting", the controller will automatically reconnect to the paired receiver.

4.8 Android Bluetooth Dinput Connection

  1. Controller Selection Mode: Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Mode", then select "Android" to complete the mode switching.
  2. Pairing: After switching to Android mode, enter pairing mode. On your Android device, search for Bluetooth devices and find "LEGION Y7 Gamepad". Select it to pair and connect. The controller will vibrate upon successful connection.
  3. Reconnection: If the smart screen shows the Android symbol and "Reconnecting", the controller will automatically reconnect to the paired Android device.

4.9 PS4 Connection

First, connect the PS4 host with a data cable. After successful connection, there will be a vibration prompt and the P4 interface will be displayed. At this point, unplug the data cable to wirelessly connect to the PS4 host. When the PS4 host is turned off, it needs to be reconnected to the PS4 host with a data cable.

4.10 Mobile Phone/Tablet Bluetooth Connection (iOS)

  1. Controller Selection Mode: Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Mode", then select "Phone" to complete the mode switching.
  2. Pairing: After switching to Phone mode, enter pairing mode. On your mobile phone/tablet, search for Bluetooth devices and find "Xbox Wireless Controller". Select it to pair and connect. The controller will vibrate upon successful connection.
  3. Reconnection: If the smart screen shows the phone/tablet symbol and "Reconnecting", the controller will automatically reconnect to the paired device.

5. Operating Instructions

This section details the advanced functions and customization options available on your LEGION Y7 controller.

5.1 Macro Programming Function

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Set", then "Program" to configure the M1, M2, N1, and N2 back buttons. You can program actions for the left joystick (up, down, left, right), ABXY, LB, RB, LT, RT, R3, L3. After setting, the controller will vibrate, and the macro will take effect. To clear a single programmed key, confirm without entering a key, or select "Clear program" to clear all macros.

5.2 Deadband Adjustment

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Set", then "Deadzone" to adjust the joystick deadband. A vibration prompt will confirm the setting.

5.3 Screen Brightness Adjustment

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Set", then "Light" to adjust the screen brightness. A vibration prompt will confirm the setting.

5.4 Vibration Regulation

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Set", then "Vibration" to adjust the vibration intensity. A vibration prompt will confirm the setting.

5.5 Switch Language

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Set", then "Language" to switch between Chinese and English. The settings will take effect immediately.

5.6 Layout Switching

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Set", then "Layout" to switch between Xbox and Switch button layouts. A vibration prompt will confirm the setting.

5.7 Handle Calibration

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Calibration" to access the following options:

  • Joystick Calibration: Select "Joystick" and follow the prompt to rotate both joysticks simultaneously. The controller will prompt upon completion.
  • Gyro Calibration: Select "Gyro" and place the controller on a horizontal plane without moving it during calibration. The controller will prompt upon completion.
  • Trigger Calibration: Select "Trigger" and follow the prompt to press the triggers. The controller will prompt upon completion.

5.8 Key Test

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Testing" to test all keys (except the Window key). Use the cross directional key, left joystick, and right joystick. Press the Window key to return when finished.

5.9 Somatosensory Mapping

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Mapping" to enable left/right joystick mapping, adjust sensitivity, and map to supported buttons (A, B, X, Y, LT, LB, RT, RB). A vibration prompt will confirm the setting.

5.10 Continuous Sending (TURBO) Function

Press and hold the 'Y' key for about 3 seconds to enter the menu. Select "Turbo" to configure continuous firing mode, speed, and Turbo clearing. You can set semi-automatic or fully automatic Turbo for supported keys (A, B, X, Y, LT, LB, RT, RB). A vibration prompt will confirm the setting.

5.11 Light Mode Adjustment

Press the SET key to cycle between 10 colors of the joystick decorative light and to turn it off.

5.12 Reset Function

In the power-on state, use a sufficiently long card needle to poke the reset button in the hole to forcibly turn off the controller.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the controller. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: If not used for a long time, charge the device to about 50% every three months to effectively extend battery life. Fully charge before use.
  • Avoid Physical Damage: Do not squeeze or drop the product.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Controller not connecting: Ensure the correct connection mode (Wired, Bluetooth, 2.4G) is selected for your platform. Check that the device's Bluetooth is enabled and the controller is in pairing mode. For 2.4G, ensure the dongle is properly inserted and paired.
  • Input lag or unresponsiveness: Ensure the controller is fully charged. Try reconnecting the controller. For wireless connections, ensure there are no strong interferences nearby.
  • Drifting joysticks: Perform joystick calibration as described in section 5.7.
  • Buttons not responding: Perform a key test as described in section 5.8. If specific buttons consistently fail, contact support.
  • Controller not turning on: Ensure the battery is charged. If the issue persists, try the Reset Function (section 5.12).

  • Do not attempt to replace the internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
  • If the product experiences severe swelling, do not continue to use it.
  • Do not squeeze or place the product in a place where it is easy to fall off.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the battery. Otherwise, it may cause battery explosion or liquid leakage inside the battery. Batteries not specified by the manufacturer or batteries that have been disassembled and modified are not covered by the warranty.

10.2 Precautions

  • Electromagnetic waves of specific frequencies may affect the normal use of products.
  • Before you start working with the product, please read the instruction manual and operate it once to master its use proficiently.
  • When the machine malfunctions, do not disassemble or repair it arbitrarily. Only authorized maintenance personnel can carry out repairs on the machine.
  • If not used for a long time, please charge the device to about 50% every three months before storing it to effectively extend the battery life. Please fully charge it before use.
