5. Setup & Installation
5.1 Physical Installation
- Choose Location: Select an indoor location where the detector can cover the desired area without obstructions. Avoid placing it near heat sources, direct sunlight, or areas with strong air currents.
- Mounting Height: Install the detector at an approximate height of 2.2 meters from the floor.
- Detection Area: The detector offers a detection range of 90-110 degrees and a distance of 6-15 meters. Ensure the area to be monitored falls within this range.
- Pet Immunity Consideration: For optimal pet immunity, ensure that pets weighing less than 15kg cannot get closer than 1.8 meters to the detector. Avoid mounting the detector in areas where pets can climb onto furniture or stairs within the detection zone.

5.2 Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the PIR detector.
- Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.3 Pairing with KERUI Alarm Host
To integrate the PIR sensor with your KERUI alarm system, follow these general steps. Specific menu options may vary slightly depending on your alarm panel model.
- Power On: Ensure your KERUI alarm panel is powered on and connected to a power source.
- Access Settings: On the alarm panel, navigate to the system settings, typically by entering your master password and selecting a menu option like "System Settings" or "Accessories".
- Add Detector: Look for an option such as "Add Detector" or "Add Accessories". The panel will usually prompt you to trigger the detector.
- Trigger PIR Sensor: Move in front of the PIR sensor to trigger it. The sensor's LED indicator should flash, and the alarm panel should register the new detector.
- Confirm Pairing: The alarm panel will typically display a confirmation message upon successful pairing.
5.4 Mobile App Integration (if applicable)
If your KERUI alarm system supports mobile app integration (e.g., via Tuya Smart app), you can also manage and monitor your sensors through the app. The following video demonstrates the process of connecting the alarm panel to a mobile app and adding accessories:

6. Operation
6.1 Normal Operation
Once installed and paired, the PIR motion detector continuously monitors its detection area. When it detects human movement, it will immediately transmit an alarm signal to the connected KERUI alarm host. The alarm host will then activate its siren, send notifications to your mobile app (if configured), or perform other programmed actions.

Image: Illustration of the system's operation: PIR sensor detects movement, sends a signal to the alarm host, and the phone receives an alarm notification.
6.2 Pet Immunity
The KERUI PIR detector features intelligent pet immunity, designed to ignore the movement of small animals weighing less than 15kg. This helps prevent false alarms caused by household pets. However, for optimal performance, ensure that pets cannot get closer than 1.8 meters to the detector, especially by climbing on furniture or stairs within the detection zone.

6.3 Product Testing
To test the detector's functionality:
- Power on the detector. The LED indicator will flash for approximately 1 second, entering a self-check state.
- After about 30 seconds, the detector will enter normal working mode.
- Walk parallel to the wall where the detector is installed, within the testing area.
- If the detector senses movement, its red LED will light up, indicating an alarm state.
7. User Tips
- For best detection, ensure the sensor has a clear line of sight to the area you wish to protect.
- Avoid placing the sensor directly facing windows or areas with significant temperature fluctuations to prevent false alarms.
- Regularly check the battery status (yellow LED indicator) and replace batteries promptly when low.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Detector not triggering alarm | Low battery | Replace with new AA batteries. |
| Detector not triggering alarm | Not properly paired with alarm host | Re-pair the detector with the alarm host following Section 5.3. |
| Detector not triggering alarm | Out of range of alarm host | Relocate the detector closer to the alarm host or ensure no major obstructions. |
| Frequent false alarms | Improper installation height or location | Ensure installation height is 2.2m and avoid areas with moving objects (curtains, fans) or direct heat sources. |
| Frequent false alarms | Pet immunity compromised | Ensure pets cannot get closer than 1.8m to the detector. |
| No mobile app notifications | Alarm host not connected to Wi-Fi or app | Check Wi-Fi connection of the alarm host and ensure it's properly configured in the mobile app. |
9. Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: When the yellow LED indicator illuminates, it signifies a low battery. Replace both AA batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation. Refer to Section 5.2 for battery installation.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensor lens with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to ensure optimal detection performance. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Environmental Check: Regularly inspect the installation area to ensure no new obstructions or environmental changes (e.g., new furniture, plants, or heat sources) could interfere with the detector's operation.
