1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your ThundeaL TD98Pro Portable Projector. Please read it thoroughly before use and keep it for future reference.

Important Safeguards

  • Installation:
    • Use the projector in a dark room for optimal viewing.
    • Handle the projector carefully; dropping or crashing it may damage parts, result in blurred images, or abnormal display.
  • Power:
    • Be careful with the power cord to avoid excessive bending, which can cause electric shock or fire.
    • Unplug the power cord after switching off the projector.
  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the power cord before cleaning.
    • Clean the shell regularly with a damp cloth and a neutral detergent.
    • Use a glasses' cloth or lens paper to clean the lens to avoid scratches.
    • Regularly clean the projector's vents and speakers with a banister brush to prevent blockages.
  • High Temperature Attention:
    • During use or immediately after, the exhaust port will be very hot; avoid touching it.
    • Do not look directly into the lens during operation.
  • Warning:
    • Do not place liquid or heavy objects on the projector.
    • To ensure stable heat dissipation, open the height bracket at the bottom of the projector before use.

The ThundeaL TD98Pro projector supports high-definition video signals and composite video signals, along with stereo audio input and output. Refer to the diagrams below for connecting the projector to various audio and video equipment.

3. Remote Control

The remote control allows for convenient operation of your projector. Familiarize yourself with its buttons and their functions.

4. Setup and Installation

Standard Setting

Refer to the table below to adjust your picture size and projection distance (from the lens to the screen).

Please allow ± 3% to the image sizes in the table above. If the distance is less than the minimum data or more than the maximum data, the image could be blurry.

Installation Methods

Contact a professional installer to mount this projector to a ceiling. The lifting device should be able to withstand 4 times the weight of the product. Follow the instructions below for the correct projector positions.

Warning:

  • The projector may be damaged beyond repair if incorrectly mounted.
  • Use the projector only in environments between 0°C and 35°C. Malfunction may occur outside this range.
  • Avoid dusty, wet, moist, or smoky conditions to prevent malfunction.
  • Poor ventilation can cause overheating, leading to damage or a safety hazard.

5. Operation

Turn the Projector On/Off

  • Standby: When connected to power, the projector enters standby, and the signal indicator is red.
  • Operation On: Press the power key on the projector body or remote control. The indicator will turn blue, and the projector will enter working state.
  • Operation Off: In working state, press the power key on the projector body or remote control. The indicator changes from blue to red, and the projector turns off.

Image Focusing

When using the projector for the first time, the image may be blurred and requires focusing. If the picture is blurred, press the 'F+' or 'F-' focus keys on the remote control to adjust the focal length of the lens. Tap or long-press the focus button until the picture is clear.

(Note: Auto focus function is only available in autofocus versions. Do not block the camera while autofocusing.)

Projection Settings

Long-press the 'Menu' button on the main interface to enter settings. Select the desired installation mode in the projector settings.

  • Projection Modes: Front Table / Front Table / Rear Table / Front Ceiling / Rear-Ceiling

Correction Settings

From the main interface, long-press 'Menu', enter settings, and select 'Corner Correction' in the projector settings. Use the remote control's arrow keys (up, down, left, right) to adjust the screen ratio. Press 'OK' to enter the second corner adjustment. Continue adjusting until the screen meets your needs. Press 'Menu' to reset to the original screen, then 'OK' to confirm.

Auto Keystone and Auto Focus

In the main interface, long-press 'Menu', enter settings, and select 'Keystone Settings'. Confirm 'Auto focus with moved' is turned on. This function ensures the picture remains square even if the device is displaced.

Similarly, for 'Focus Settings', confirm 'Power on auto focus' is turned on. This function is on by default and keeps the screen square even after device displacement.

Digital Zoom

To zoom out or enlarge the image, long-press 'Menu' on the main interface, enter settings, and select 'Zoom In/Out'. Use the remote control's up and down buttons to adjust the screen ratio. Press 'Menu' to reset to the original screen.

How to Select the Source

Press the signal source button on the remote control. In the pop-up window, select the desired source channel (e.g., HDMI1, HDMI2, USB). Press 'OK' to enter the corresponding source interface.

How to Connect to WiFi

From the main interface, long-press 'Menu', enter settings, and select 'Network Setting'. Enter the interface, select your desired WiFi network from the list, enter the password, and complete the connection. 'Connected' will be displayed next to successfully connected networks.

How to Connect Bluetooth

From the main interface, long-press 'Menu', enter settings, and select 'Bluetooth Settings'. Turn on Bluetooth, search for available devices, and pair with your desired device.

How to Download Apps

On the main interface, select 'APPS', enter the interface, select 'App Store', and download the desired applications. Apps can also be added through the 'APP store'.

How to Read Files on U Disk

Press the signal source button on the remote control, then select 'USB' in the pop-up window. After entering the interface, select your U disk, find the file you want to view in the classification, and play it.

How to Use iOS Cast (AirPlay)

Select 'APPS' on the main interface, then 'Airpin (PRO)'. Press 'OK' on the remote control to enter the interface and follow the on-screen instructions for setup.

Note: The projector needs to be connected to the internet for iOS Cast or for initial projector updates.

  1. Ensure your iOS device and the projector are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. On your iOS device, open the control center and select 'Screen Mirroring'.
  3. Choose the corresponding projector device name from the list.

How to Use Miracast (Android Mirroring)

On the main interface, select 'APPS', then 'My apps', and find 'Android Mirroring'. Press 'OK' on the remote control to enter the interface and follow the on-screen instructions.

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi on your Android device. (It is recommended that the projector is connected to the same router, or the Android device's Wi-Fi is not connected to any router).
  2. Turn on 'Wireless Display' on your Android device.
  3. Select the corresponding projector device name.

6. Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Always unplug the power cord before cleaning.
  • Clean the projector's outer shell regularly with a damp cloth and a neutral detergent.
  • Use a glasses' cloth or lens paper to gently clean the projector lens to avoid scratches.
  • Regularly clean the projector's vents and speakers using a soft banister brush to prevent dust accumulation and blockages.

Dust Cover and Filter Replacement

The projector features a removable dust cover for maintenance. To remove the dust cover and replace the dust screen, press both sides of the cover as indicated in the product overview diagram (Figure 2.1, point 14).

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your projector, refer to the table below for common problems and their possible solutions.

1. The indicator light does not work when the power switch is turned on.
  • Power cable is not connected properly.
  • The power switch is faulty.
  • The power switch is turned off.
2. The projector does not work when using the remote control.
  • The remote control has no batteries or the batteries are low.
  • The remote control is not being aimed at the IR receiver.
  • The IR receiver is under strong lights.
3. No image.
  • The input source may not be correct.
  • No input signal.
  • The input cable is not connected.
  • If under PC mode, the PC output frequency is not 50-60Hz. Make sure that the PC output is connected with the projector.
  • The projector ventilation is blocked.
  • The voltage is not stable.
4. Auto-off.
  • The projector has overheated - check that the fan is not broken.

  • Optimal Performance: For the best viewing experience, ensure your projector's firmware and apps are updated regularly.
  • Picture Settings: Experiment with the 'Picture Mode' settings (Standard, Light, Soft, Game, Movie, Pop, Customized) to find what best suits your content and environment. You can adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, and hue for fine-tuning.
  • Connectivity: For stable screen mirroring, ensure both your projector and mobile device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, preferably a 5G network for faster speeds.
