1. Product Overview

The UNIWA HOPE XS17 is a 4G-enabled smartphone combining a traditional keypad with a modern touch screen interface, running on Android 8.1. It features dual SIM card support, a 2500mAh battery, and comes with popular applications pre-installed.

2. Getting Started

2.1 Package Contents

Ensure all items are present in your product package:

  • UNIWA HOPE XS17 Phone
  • Power Adaptor (5V/1A)

2.2 SIM Card and Micro SD Card Installation

  1. Locate the SIM card tray on the side of the phone.
  2. Insert the eject pin into the small hole next to the tray to open it.
  3. Place your Nano-SIM cards (up to two) and/or a Micro SD card (up to 64GB) into the designated slots on the tray. Ensure they are correctly oriented.
  4. Carefully push the tray back into the phone until it clicks into place.

2.3 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the phone's built-in 2500mAh battery.

  1. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the charging port at the bottom of the phone.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the provided 5V/1A power adaptor.
  3. Plug the power adaptor into a wall outlet.
  4. The charging indicator on the screen will show the charging status.

2.4 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button (usually on the right side) until the screen lights up.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button, then select 'Power off' from the options on the screen.

2.5 Initial Setup

Upon first power-on, follow the on-screen prompts to configure basic settings such as language, Wi-Fi connection, and Google account setup.

3. Operating Your Phone

3.1 Navigation

The UNIWA HOPE XS17 offers dual navigation methods:

  • Touch Screen: Tap, swipe, and pinch to interact with the 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen.
  • Keypad: Use the physical keypad for dialing numbers, typing messages, and navigating menus. The central navigation button allows for directional movement and selection.

3.2 Making Calls and Sending Messages

  • Calls: Use the keypad to dial a number or select a contact from your address book. Press the green call button to initiate a call.
  • Messages: Open the messaging application. You can use either the keypad or the touch screen keyboard to compose text messages.

3.3 Internet and Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi to connect to available Wi-Fi networks. The phone supports 2.4GHz/5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac).
  • Mobile Data (4G): Ensure your SIM card is active and mobile data is enabled in Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network. The phone supports 2G, 3G, and 4G networks (FDD-LTE B1/B3/B5/B8; TDD-LTE: B40/B41).
  • GPS Navigation: The phone has built-in GPS/A-GPS support for location services and navigation.
  • Bluetooth: Connect to Bluetooth devices via Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth. The phone supports Bluetooth V4.2 (BLE).

3.4 Pre-installed Applications

The phone comes with several popular applications pre-installed for your convenience, including Whatsapp, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.

3.5 Camera Usage

The phone features double 2.0MP cameras (front and rear) with a flashlight for the rear camera. Open the Camera app to take photos or record videos.

3.6 Torch Function

The phone supports a 'One Key to Torch' function for quick access to the flashlight. Refer to your phone's specific button mapping for this feature.

4. Maintenance and Care

  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid exposing the phone to extreme temperatures. Charge the phone regularly and avoid letting the battery drain completely too often. The battery is built-in and not user-detachable.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen and body of the phone. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage Management: The phone has 16GB of internal storage. You can expand this by inserting a Micro SD card (up to 64GB) to store more photos, videos, and apps. Regularly clear unnecessary files and cache to maintain performance.
  • Software Updates: Keep your phone's software updated to ensure optimal performance and security. Check for updates in Settings > System > System update.

5. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Phone not turning on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the phone to the charger and try powering it on after a few minutes.
  • Network connectivity issues: Check if SIM cards are properly inserted. Verify mobile data or Wi-Fi is enabled. Restart the phone.
  • Apps crashing or freezing: Close and reopen the app. Clear the app's cache (Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > [App Name] > Storage & cache > Clear cache). Restart the phone.
  • Hotspot functionality: The UNIWA HOPE XS17 supports hotspot functionality. To enable it, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & tethering > Wi-Fi hotspot. Configure the network name and password, then toggle it on.

Factory Reset:

If you encounter persistent software issues, a factory reset may resolve them. Warning: A factory reset will erase all data on your phone. Back up important data before proceeding.

  1. Go to Settings > System > Reset options.
  2. Select 'Erase all data (factory reset)'.
  3. Confirm your choice and follow the on-screen instructions.
