5. Setup Guide
5.1 Charging the Scanner
Before first use, fully charge the scanner. Connect the scanner to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter) using the provided USB cable. A full charge typically takes approximately 4 hours.
5.2 Connection Modes
The Eyoyo EY-016 series scanners offer three versatile connection methods:
- USB Wired Mode:
Connect the scanner directly to your computer's USB port using the provided USB cable. The scanner will be recognized as a Human Interface Device (HID) keyboard and will transmit scanned data directly to any active text field. - 2.4G Wireless Mode:
- Plug the 2.4G USB dongle into an available USB port on your computer.
- Turn on the scanner. It should automatically connect to the dongle.
- The scanner will function as a wireless HID keyboard, transmitting data to your computer.
- Bluetooth Wireless Mode:
- Turn on the scanner.
- Activate Bluetooth on your host device (PC, smartphone, tablet).
- Search for available Bluetooth devices. The scanner should appear as "Eyoyo Barcode Scanner" or a similar identifier.
- Select the scanner to pair the devices.
- Once paired, the scanner will function as a Bluetooth HID keyboard, sending scanned data to your device.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Scanning
To scan a barcode, point the scanner at the barcode and press the scan button. The scanner will emit a light and typically a beep (if enabled) upon a successful scan. The decoded data will appear in the active text field on your connected device.

6.2 Scanner Head Rotation
The scanner head can rotate 330° to allow for comfortable use with either the left or right hand. Gently rotate the head to your preferred position. Avoid twisting the scanner head beyond its natural rotation limits or dragging it forcefully, as this can cause damage.

6.3 Upload Modes
- Instant Upload Mode: This is the default mode. Scanned data is immediately transmitted to the connected device.
- Storage Mode: Scanned data is stored in the scanner's internal 16M memory. To switch to storage mode, scan the appropriate configuration barcode (refer to the full user manual for specific barcodes). To upload stored data to your device, scan the "Upload Data" configuration barcode.
6.4 Sound and Vibration Settings
The scanner's sound and vibration feedback can be toggled on or off by scanning specific configuration barcodes. These barcodes are typically found in the comprehensive user manual provided with your scanner.
6.5 Adding/Hiding Prefix/Suffix
To customize scanned data by adding or hiding custom prefix/suffix digits, refer to the specific configuration barcodes and instructions provided in the comprehensive user manual.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Battery Care
- Charge the scanner fully before its initial use.
- Avoid completely draining the battery frequently to prolong its overall lifespan.
- If you plan to store the scanner for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% and store it in a cool, dry place.
7.2 Cleaning
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or excessive moisture. Keep the scanning window clean and free of dust or smudges for optimal performance.
7.3 Storage
Store the scanner in a safe place away from extreme temperatures, high humidity, and direct sunlight when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1 Scanner Not Connecting
- Ensure the scanner is sufficiently charged.
- Verify that the correct connection mode (USB, 2.4G, or Bluetooth) is selected and properly set up according to the instructions in Section 5.2.
- For 2.4G wireless mode, ensure the USB dongle is securely plugged into your computer.
- For Bluetooth wireless mode, confirm that Bluetooth is enabled on your host device and the scanner is successfully paired.
- Try restarting both the scanner and the host device.
8.2 Scanner Not Reading Barcodes
- Ensure the barcode is clean, undamaged, and within the scanner's optimal reading range.
- Check if the barcode type is supported by your specific scanner model (1D models cannot read 2D codes).
- Adjust the distance and angle of the scanner to the barcode.
- Ensure there is sufficient lighting for the scanner to read the barcode clearly.
8.3 No Data Transmitted to Device
- Check if the scanner is in "Storage Mode" instead of "Instant Upload Mode." If so, switch to instant upload or upload stored data.
- Verify that the connection (USB, 2.4G, or Bluetooth) is active and stable.
- Ensure the cursor is in an active text field or application on your host device where data can be input.
8.4 Accidental Rotation of Scanner Head
The scanner head is designed for 330° rotation. Avoid twisting it beyond its natural rotation limits or dragging it forcefully, as this can lead to mechanical damage. Always rotate gently.
9. User Tips
- Users have found that the 330° rotation feature significantly enhances comfort and flexibility, especially during long scanning sessions or when switching between hands.
- For optimal efficiency in busy environments, consider using the 2.4G wireless mode for its longer transmission range and stable connection.
- If you experience issues with specific barcode types, ensure you have the correct 1D or 2D model for your needs, as 1D scanners cannot read 2D codes.
