4. Installation Guide
Before installation, ensure all surfaces are flat and free of defects. The lock is designed for wooden doors with a thickness of 35-60mm.
4.1. Door Opening Direction Selection
Determine if your door is right-hand opening or left-hand opening, and whether it opens inwards or outwards. This will guide the handle adjustment.
4.2. Adjusting Handle Direction
The handles on both the front and back panels can be adjusted to match your door's opening direction.
- Front Panel Handle Adjustment:
a. Remove the reversing screws on the front panel using a screwdriver.
b. Turn the handle 180 degrees.
c. Reinstall the reversing screws and tighten them. - Back Panel Handle Adjustment:
a. Insert a screwdriver into the handle hole and unscrew the screw.
b. Pull out the handle and turn it 180 degrees.
c. Reinstall the screw and tighten it.
4.3. Notes for Mortise Lock
- When using a double deadbolt, the arrow on the front panel's arrow hole should always point downwards.
- When using a single deadbolt, the arrows on the handle holes on the front panel should be in the same direction as the handles.
- It is forbidden to remove and assemble the side slats of the mortise lock without permission.
4.4. Installation Steps
- Install Mortise Lock: Insert the mortise lock into the door edge.
- Install Front Panel: Secure the front panel to the door, ensuring the connecting square bar and wires pass through correctly.
- Install Back Panel: Attach the back panel, connecting the wires and securing it with screws.
- Install Batteries: Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment.
- Install Strike Plate & Strike Box: Mount the strike plate and strike box on the door frame, aligning with the mortise lock.

5. Initial Setup & Administrator Management
Before using the lock, you must register an administrator. The default factory password is 123456, which becomes invalid after you set a new administrator password.
5.1. Add Super Administrator Password

- Press `*` + `#` + `1`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#` again to confirm.
- The lock will announce "Successful".
5.2. Bluetooth Pairing

5.3. Delete Administrator Password

- Enter the sequence number of the administrator to delete (e.g., 003) + `#`.
- Confirm deletion.
6. User Management
The lock supports up to 250 user groups for IC cards, passwords, and fingerprints.
6.1. Add Users (Password, Fingerprint, RFID Card)

To Add a User Password:
- Press `*` + `#`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#`.
- Press `2` (Add User).
- Enter a 4-8 digit password + `#`.
- Enter the same password again + `#` to confirm.
To Add a User Fingerprint:
- Press `*` + `#`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#`.
- Press `2` (Add User).
- Place your finger on the sensor repeatedly (4 times) until successful.
To Add a User IC Card:
- Press `*` + `#`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#`.
- Press `2` (Add User).
- Touch the IC card to the sensing area until successful.
6.2. Delete User Password/Fingerprint/IC Card
- Press `*` + `#`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#`.
- Press `2` (Delete User).
- Select the type of user to delete (e.g., `1` for password, `2` for fingerprint, `3` for IC card).
- Enter the specific user number to delete or choose to delete all users of that type.
7. Smart Lock Operation
7.1. Unlocking Methods

- Password Unlock: Enter your registered password followed by `#`.
- Fingerprint Unlock: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint sensor.
- IC Card Unlock: Present your registered IC card to the sensing area.
- Mechanical Key Unlock: Use the provided mechanical key.
- App Unlock: Use the MOES or Tuya Smart Life app (requires Bluetooth pairing or optional WiFi gateway).
7.2. Electronic Lock Button Setting
- Administrator Only Access: Press the electronic lock button once to lock the door. Only administrators can unlock.
- All Users Access: Press the electronic lock button again. Both administrators and common users can open the lock.
7.3. System Settings
To access system settings:
- Press `*` + `#`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#`.
- Press `3` (System Setting).
- You can then adjust:
- Volume setting
- Unlock mode setting
- Language setting (Chinese/English)
- Time setting
7.4. Restore Factory Settings
To restore the lock to its factory default settings:
- Press `*` + `#`.
- Enter the administrator password + `#`.
- Press `4` (Restore Factory Setting).
- Confirm the action. The initial management password will be reset to 123456.
8. Tuya APP Operation (Optional Function)
For full smart functionality, download and configure the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
8.1. Download the Tuya APP
Scan the QR code on the product manual cover or search "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" in your mobile app store (Apple Store or Android market).
8.2. Register an Account
Register using your email or mobile phone number and follow the in-app instructions.
8.3. Network Settings (Connecting the Lock to the App)
There are two main connection modes: Intelligent Connection (EZ mode) and Hotspot Connection (AP mode).
Intelligent Connection (EZ Mode):
- Open the Tuya Smart APP and select "Lock (Wi-Fi)" under "Security and Sensors".
- Ensure the privacy button on the lock is unlocked.
- Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Reset the device (if prompted) and confirm the smart door lock is working normally.
- Perform net pairing as prompted by the app.
Hotspot Connection (AP Mode):
- Open the Tuya Smart APP and select "Lock (Wi-Fi)" under "Security and Sensors".
- Ensure the privacy button on the lock is unlocked.
- In the upper right corner of the app, select "AP Mode".
- Enter your Wi-Fi password.
- Reset the device (if prompted) and confirm the smart door lock is working normally.
- Connect your mobile phone to the device's hotspot (e.g., "SmartLife-XXXX").
- Go back to the app and continue to add the device.
8.4. BLE Quick Connection
This is an additional BLE connection method, performed when the lock is in AP or EZ mode (5 blinks).
- When the "Add Device" window appears in the app, select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Place your phone near the lock and router to establish the connection.
8.5. Remote Unlock Function
When visitors press `9` + `#` on the lock, a remote unlock request will be sent to the administrator's app. You can then choose to "Agree to unlock" or "Refuse to unlock" from the app.
9. Maintenance
9.1. Battery Replacement
The lock will automatically alarm when the voltage is lower than 4.8V. Replace all 4 AA alkaline batteries as soon as possible. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
9.2. Cleaning
Do not apply any detergent directly to the lock. When cleaning, use only clean water or a mild cleaner on a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
9.3. General Care
- Ensure the lock is protected from extreme temperatures and moisture.
- Avoid strong impacts or physical damage to the lock.
10. Troubleshooting
- Lockout after Incorrect Attempts: If 5 incorrect unlock attempts are made consecutively, the keyboard will be locked for 30 seconds. The system will not respond to any operation during this time.
- Low Battery Alarm: When the voltage is below 4.8V, the lock will alarm automatically each time it's opened. Replace batteries promptly.
- Forgotten Password: If you forget your administrator password, you may need to perform a factory reset (Section 7.4) and reconfigure the lock.
- App Connection Issues: Ensure your Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz (if using the WiFi version) and that the privacy button on the lock is unlocked during app setup.
- Lock Not Responding: Check battery levels. If the lock is completely unresponsive, use the mechanical key or temporary Type-C charging.
11. User Tips
- Virtual Password Feature: When entering your password, you can add random digits before and after your actual password (e.g., XXX[your password]XXX) to prevent others from guessing your code based on finger smudges. Remember to press `#` after the full sequence.
- Regular Battery Checks: Even with long battery life, it's good practice to check the battery level on the screen or through the app periodically to avoid unexpected lockouts.
- Fingerprint Placement: For consistent fingerprint recognition, ensure your finger covers the sensor fully and in the same orientation as when it was registered.
- App Integration: For advanced features like remote unlocking and access logs, ensure your lock is properly connected to the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
