Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

Locate the power button on the Q300 strobe light. Press and hold to power on or off the device. The high-definition display will activate upon power-on.

2. Flash Modes

The Q300 supports several flash modes, which can be selected via the control panel:

  • Manual (M) Mode: Allows precise control over flash power output from 1/64 to 1/1.
  • Multi (Stroboscopic) Mode: Controls the stroboscopic rate up to 20 times (20 Hz) for capturing multiple exposures in a single frame.
  • Optical Triggering (S1/S2) Modes: These are optical slave modes, where the Q300 fires in response to another flash. S1 is for standard optical slave, S2 ignores the pre-flash of a TTL master flash.
  • Quick Mode: Adjust the flash duration across 10 levels, from 1/1000s (F1) to 1/10000s (FP).

Note: The Q300 does not support TTL (Through-The-Lens) and HSS (High-Speed Sync) modes. When used with the Q Compact trigger, the sync speed should not exceed 1/200s.

6. Wireless Control

The Q300 can be triggered wirelessly using the included Q Compact Trigger or other compatible NEEWER Q System master flashes/transmitters. Ensure the flash and trigger are set to the same channel and group for proper communication.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Regularly clean the flash unit with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

2. Flash Tube Replacement

The flash tube of the Q300 is detachable and replaceable. If the flash tube needs replacement, ensure the unit is powered off and disconnected from any power source. Refer to a qualified technician or NEEWER support for guidance on replacement to avoid damage or injury.

3. Battery Care

  • Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
  • Charge the battery periodically if stored for a long time to maintain its health.
  • The battery features overheating, overvoltage, and overcharge protection for safety.

Troubleshooting

  • Flash not firing: Check battery level, ensure the flash is powered on, and verify trigger connection (channels/groups). Check if the flash tube is properly installed.
  • Inconsistent flash output: Ensure flash power settings are correct. Check for any obstructions between the flash and subject.
  • Wireless trigger not working: Confirm the trigger and flash are on the same channel and group. Check trigger battery. Ensure camera hot shoe is clean and the trigger is seated correctly. Remember, it's not compatible with certain Canon EOS Rebel models.
  • Overheating warning: If the flash indicates overheating, allow it to cool down before further use. This is a built-in protection mechanism.
