This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and effective operation of your JJRC P7 MAX GPS 4-Axis Aerocraft. Please read this manual thoroughly before use and retain it for future reference.

To ensure the requirements of the electromagnetic environment of the aeronautical radio station, it is prohibited to use all kinds of model remote controllers and drones within a range of 10 kilometers on each side of the centerline of the airport runway, as well as within 20 kilometers at each end of the runway and civil aviation air routes. During the period when the relevant national authorities issue radio control orders, the use of model remote controllers and drones should be stopped as required.

To make it more convenient and secure for you to use this product, please carefully read all the contents of this manual before using the product and keep this manual for future reference.

Safety Instructions

  1. This product is not suitable for individuals under the age of 14 and others who do not have full capacity for civil conduct.
  2. This product features high-speed rotating propellers and powerful flight power, which poses certain risks during operation. Please do not approach or touch the product while it is running.
  3. When using this product, please stay away from dangerous environments such as airports, railways, highways, high-rise buildings, and power lines.
  4. When using this product, please stay away from environments with high electromagnetic interference such as mobile phone base stations and high-power transmission equipment.
  5. When using this product, please stay away from all manned aircraft.
  6. Do not use this product in harsh environments such as rain, thunderstorms, sandstorms, fog, snow, strong winds, low temperatures, etc.
  7. This product is not waterproof. Do not operate this product near water bodies.
  8. When operating this product, always maintain a safe distance of about 10 meters between the drone and people or animals.
  9. Always keep the drone within the operator's line of sight during flight.
  10. Do not hover or fly the product over crowds, and do not use it to scare others.
  11. Do not operate this product near children's play areas.
  12. Do not use this product to chase or interfere with the normal operation of vehicles.
  13. In non-emergency situations, do not turn off the motors while the product is flying.
  14. Do not use this product under the influence of alcohol, fatigue, medication, physical discomfort, etc.
  15. Before each use, inspect the product for components' firmness, cracks and wear on the body and propellers, battery level, effectiveness of indicators, etc. If any abnormalities are found, stop using it immediately and replace the corresponding parts.
  16. An unmanned aircraft with abnormal operation may cause accidents. Do not start the propellers or fly in a forced manner.
  17. Do not attempt to stop any moving parts of the product during operation.
  18. Do not modify the product or use it for purposes other than its original design.
  19. Do not operate this product in no-fly zones specified by laws and regulations.

1.2 Product Overview

The P7 MAX is a high-end professional GPS drone featuring an 8K camera, screen remote control, and advanced flight capabilities. It includes a 3-axis gimbal, 5G digital image transmission, laser obstacle avoidance, and a built-in air drop device.

1.2.1 Aircraft Introduction

The aircraft consists of a main body, four arms with propellers, a camera, and an obstacle avoidance device.

1.2.2 Remote Control Introduction

The remote control features a touch screen for intuitive operation and 5G digital image transmission.

2. Setup

2.1 Charging and Battery Installation

Ensure both the aircraft battery and remote control battery are fully charged before flight.

2.1.1 Aircraft Battery Charging

The drone uses an 11.4V 4500mAh fast-charging battery. Charging time is approximately 180 minutes.

  1. Hold the handle and pull out the battery.
  2. Connect the dedicated charging cable for charging.
  3. Insert the power adapter.

After connecting, the light on the smart battery will flash to indicate charging. Once fully charged, all 4 lights will stay on.

2.1.2 Remote Control Battery Charging

The remote control has a 7.4V 6000mAh built-in battery. Charging time is approximately 240-300 minutes.

  1. Connect the dedicated charging cable for charging.
  2. Insert the power adapter.

The indicator light of the remote control will flash during charging and stay on when fully charged.

Low Battery Reminder:

When the remote control's power drops below 7V, it will emit a "beep" sound, indicating it needs to be charged promptly.

2.2 Pre-flight Preparation

Follow these steps to prepare your drone for flight:

2.2.1 Frequency Pairing

  1. Long press the power button on the aircraft battery until all lights are on.
  2. Short-press and then long-press the power switch of the remote controller until you hear two beeps.
  3. The power indicator light of the remote controller will be always on, the front light of the aircraft will be always on, and the rear light will flash slowly to indicate successful linking.
  4. After successful linking, open the APP interface to confirm the connection.

2.2.2 Calibrate the Magnetometer

  1. Press and hold one button on the remote control to correct the geomagnetic field. The remote control will beep, and the front and rear lights will flash quickly.
  2. Hold the aircraft horizontally and rotate it counterclockwise until the remote control beeps, the front light flashes quickly, and the rear light stays on.
  3. Rotate the body camera downwards and counterclockwise until the remote control beeps, the front light of the body is on, and the rear light flashes slowly, indicating successful geomagnetic correction.

2.2.3 Calibrate the Gyroscope

Press the one-key gyroscope calibration button briefly. The remote controller beeps once, and the front and rear lights change from quick flashing to the front light staying on and the rear light flashing slowly, indicating successful gyroscope calibration.

2.2.4 Unlock

When the aircraft completes star collection (GPS lock), the LED light at the rear of the aircraft changes from slow flashing to bright. Move the two joysticks diagonally outward at the same time to unlock the motors.

2.3 External Obstacle Avoidance Components Installation

The P7 MAX features an omnidirectional obstacle avoidance system. Ensure it is correctly installed for safe flight.

  1. Insert the signal plug wire (4PIN) of the obstacle avoidance head component into the left side A seat of the body, ensuring correct orientation.
  2. Insert the steering plug wire (5PIN) of the obstacle avoidance head component into the right side B seat of the base slot, ensuring correct orientation.
  3. Insert the component into the buckle inside the main body of the machine.
  4. The obstacle avoidance device needs to work with the direction rod to operate the obstacle avoidance.

Note:

  • The obstacle avoidance system must be installed before powering on the aircraft, otherwise the obstacle avoidance function will be ineffective.
  • The obstacle avoidance function does not work when the aircraft is circling.
  • The obstacle avoidance function does not work when the aircraft is low on battery.
  • The obstacle avoidance function does not work when the aircraft is returning.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Joystick Control

The remote control features two joysticks for precise flight control.

3.1.1 Left (Throttle) Joystick

Controls the flight's altitude (up/down) and left-right rotation.

3.1.2 Right (Direction) Joystick

Controls forward, backward, and left/right side flight directions.

3.2 Flight Modes and Features

3.2.1 GPS Fix Introduction

After successful linking, the aircraft will take 1-3 minutes to acquire GPS in an open, unobstructed environment. The two lights on the front of the aircraft will be always on, and the lights on the back will flash slowly. When the last two lights turn solid, GPS positioning is successful. To take off, press the two joysticks diagonally outward to unlock the motors, then push the throttle upward.

3.2.2 One-key Return

The drone supports three types of one-key return:

  • Active Return: Initiated by the user, the drone returns to the takeoff point for landing.
  • Automatic Return: Triggered by low first-level battery power. The aircraft ascends to 30 meters (if below) and returns to the takeoff point.
  • Forced Return: Triggered by second-level low battery power. The aircraft forcefully ascends to 30 meters (if below), returns to the airspace above the takeoff point, and lands automatically. During forced return, the remote controller cannot control the aircraft.

3.2.3 Speed Control

Short press the high and low speed switch button on the remote control to adjust flight speed. One beep indicates first gear, two beeps for second, and three for third. Default is slow gear.

3.2.4 Headless Mode

To activate, press and hold the headless mode button on the remote control. The antenna end of the remote control should be in front of the heading. The remote control will beep. To exit, press and hold the button again.

3.2.5 Obstacle Avoidance Operation

Press and hold the obstacle avoidance switch to activate the mode. The obstacle avoidance head will rotate according to the steering rod. Release the lever to return to the correct position. For built-in obstacle avoidance, long press the switch to raise the head, and press again to turn off.

3.2.6 Intelligent Flight Modes

  • GPS Intelligent Tracking: The drone identifies and follows the shooting object automatically.
  • Multi-point Route Planning: The aircraft flies autonomously according to a pre-set route.
  • Fixed Point Surround: Set a center point and use the joystick to define the desired surround radius.
  • Aircraft Retrieval Function: Click the GPS signal icon three times in a row to open the map interface, which displays the last distance, longitude, and latitude position of the aircraft.

3.2.7 One-Click Airdrop

The drone is equipped with a throwable hook on its belly, allowing for remote delivery of small items (load <500g). This feature is for recreational use only and should be used in open fields within line of sight.

3.3 Camera Operation

The P7 MAX features a 3-axis electronic stabilization gimbal with an 8K camera, offering high-definition aerial photography and video recording.

3.3.1 Camera Gimbal Adjustment

During flight, slide the camera gimbal control wheel on the remote control to adjust the camera angle upwards or downwards.

3.3.2 Gesture Recognition

Facing the front lens of the camera, specific gestures can trigger automatic photo or video recording:

  • Take Photos by Gestures: Hold one hand flat about 2m in front of the camera. After recognition, a 3-second countdown begins before taking photos.
  • Shoot Videos by Gestures: Make an OK gesture about 2m in front of the camera. After recognition, video recording starts. Repeat the gesture to end recording (with a minimum 3-second interval).

Tips for Gesture Recognition:

  • Aim the lens face to face.
  • Fly in a good light environment.
  • Operate at a distance of about 2m from the lens.

Low recognition rates may occur in weak light, backlight, or with weak/disturbed WiFi signals.

3.3.3 Smart Digital Zoom

The camera supports 5x lossless intelligent zoom for detailed shots.

3.3.4 Horizon Algorithm Stability Enhancement

The new stability algorithm ensures stable shooting even if the aircraft swings.

3.4 APP User Manual

The drone can be controlled via a mobile APP. Only one mobile APP is allowed to connect to an aircraft at the same time.

3.4.1 Connecting the Remote Control

Turn on the remote control, switch on the aircraft power, wait for 1-2 minutes for the remote control LED light to flash slowly. This indicates the aircraft is synchronizing frequencies. Once synchronized, the remote control LED stays on.

3.4.2 Beginner's Guide: Environments to Avoid

Do not fly in the following environments as they may cause the aircraft to be unable to fly normally or lead to safety accidents:

  • High-rise buildings, crowds, trees, North and South Poles.
  • Near base stations, high voltage lines, gale, rain, sandstorms, major snow, waters, no-fly zones.

When the aircraft is in environments like water surface, dim light, high elevation differences, smooth reflective ground, or bicolor stripes, the downward optical flow positioning hover effect may be poor, causing difficulty in smooth flight and body shaking.

3.4.3 Control Interface Overview and Function Description

The APP interface provides various controls and information:

  • Take-off/Landing: One-click takeoff or landing.
  • One-key Return: Initiates return to home.
  • More Functions: Access additional flight modes and settings.
  • Photo Function: Select photo, video, time-lapse, or panoramic shooting.
  • Shutter: Start/stop photo or video capture.
  • Gallery: View captured content.
  • GPS Follow: Drone follows the phone in flight.
  • Reverse Lens: Flips the camera view.
  • Interest Point: Drone orbits a set point on the map.
  • Route Rules: Drone flies according to a selected route.
  • To Throw: Unlocks the drone to drop items.
  • VR: Activates/exits VR function.
  • Lens Angle: Adjusts the camera servo angle.
  • VRT SC: Switches to vertical screen aerial photography mode.
  • Live: Activates live streaming.

In case of an emergency, immediately interrupt the flight with the remote control!

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your P7 MAX drone.

  • Pre-flight Inspection: Before each use, inspect the product for components' firmness, cracks and wear on the body and propellers, battery level, effectiveness of indicators, etc. If any abnormalities are found, stop using it immediately and replace the corresponding parts.
  • Propeller Replacement: When replacing the blades, ensure that each axis is installed with blade A/B consistently.
  • Battery Care: Properly charge and store batteries according to instructions to maximize their lifespan. Avoid overcharging or deep discharging.
  • Cleaning: Keep the drone and remote control clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.

5. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

  • Obstacle Avoidance Not Working: Ensure the obstacle avoidance system is installed before powering on the aircraft. It will not work if the aircraft is circling, low on battery, or returning.
  • Signal Interference/Connection Issues: If the front and rear lights of the aircraft flash back and forth, it indicates signal interference. Restart the aircraft and remote controller to re-link.
  • Low Remote Control Battery: The remote control will emit a "beep" sound when its power drops below 7V. Charge it promptly.
  • APP Connection Issues: Check if WLAN and cellular data are enabled. Restart the software. If issues persist, ensure mobile phone positioning is enabled.
  • APP Crashing/Flashing Back: If the APP crashes, send logs from the APP help section for analysis.
  • Gesture Recognition Issues: Ensure the lens is aimed face-to-face, there is good lighting, and the operation is performed at about 2m distance. Weak light, backlight, or weak WiFi signal can affect recognition.
