2. Safety Information

5. Setup and Installation

The GEARELEC 7KW Portable EV Charger is designed for flexibility, allowing for both portable use and fixed installation.

5.1 Portable Use

For portable use, simply connect the charger to a compatible power outlet and your vehicle. Ensure the power outlet meets the charger's voltage and current requirements.

5.2 Fixed Installation

For a more permanent setup, use the provided wall mount bracket. Choose a suitable location that is dry, protected from direct sunlight and extreme weather, and within reach of your vehicle's charging port. Ensure the mounting surface is strong enough to support the charger's weight.

5.3 Connecting to Your Vehicle

The charger features a Type 2 (IEC 62196-2) connector, compatible with most European electric vehicles.

  • Ensure both the charger and your vehicle are turned off before connecting.
  • Insert the Type 2 charging plug firmly into your vehicle's charging port.
  • Connect the power plug to a suitable power outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Charging (Plug and Play)

Once the charger is connected to both the power source and your vehicle, it will typically begin charging automatically. The display screen on the control box will show charging parameters.

6.2 Adjustable Current

The charger supports 6-speed adjustable current settings: 8A, 10A, 13A, 16A, 24A, and 32A. You can adjust the current directly using the adjusting button on the control box or via the mobile application.

6.3 Display Screen and Pilot Lamp

The 1.3-inch display screen provides real-time information about the charging process, including current power (KW), voltage (V), current (A), and charging duration. The pilot lamp indicates the charger's status:

  • Green: Ready to charge or fully charged.
  • Yellow: Charging in progress.
  • Red: Error or fault.

7. Smart Features (WiFi, Bluetooth, App Control)

The GEARELEC EV Charger can be controlled and monitored via a mobile application, compatible with Android 13 or above, and works with Smart Life.

7.1 App Installation and Connection

  1. Download the Smart Life app from your device's app store.
  2. Register or log in to your Smart Life account.
  3. Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled. The charger's Bluetooth name is typically "NBPOWER-xxxxxxx".
  4. In the app, add a new device. The app should detect the charger via Bluetooth or WiFi. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the charger to your home WiFi network (2.4GHz only).

7.2 App Functions

Through the app, you can:

  • Monitor real-time charging status and parameters.
  • Adjust the charging current (8A, 10A, 13A, 16A, 24A, 32A).
  • Schedule charging sessions to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates.
  • Switch the app language (Chinese/English/French/Japanese/Thai).

8. Maintenance

The GEARELEC EV Charger is built with durable, flame-retardant materials (ABS+PC shell, TPU cable, PC gun head) and designed for minimal maintenance.

  • Regularly inspect the charger, cable, and plugs for any signs of damage, wear, or corrosion.
  • Clean the exterior of the charger with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure the charging port on your vehicle is clean and free of debris before connecting.
  • The IP54 rating protects against dust and splashing water, making it suitable for indoor/outdoor use.

8.1 Temperature Control Protection

The charger features an intelligent temperature control chip to prevent excessive temperature during prolonged charging. If the internal temperature exceeds safe limits:

  • <85℃: Normal operation.
  • ≥75℃: Automatically reduces power by half.
  • ≥85℃: Cuts off power within 0.2 seconds.
  • ≤60℃: Automatically restarts charging once temperature drops.
