5. Setup
5.1 Initial Charging
- Before first use, fully charge the hair clipper.
- Connect the USB Type-C charging cable to the clipper's charging port and plug the other end into a compatible USB power adapter (DC 5V 1A).
- The LED indicator will show charging status. A full charge takes approximately 3.5 hours.
- Once fully charged, disconnect the clipper from the power source.
5.2 Attaching Guide Combs
- Select the desired cutting guide comb (1.5mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, or 12mm).
- Align the comb with the clipper blade and push it firmly until it clicks into place.
- To remove, gently pull the comb away from the blade.
5.3 Adjusting the Taper Lever
- The taper lever is located on the side of the clipper.
- Move the lever up or down to adjust the cutting length between 0.8mm and 2.0mm. This allows for fine-tuning of hair length, especially useful for blending and fading.
5.4 Changing Interchangeable Shells
- Ensure the clipper is turned off.
- Use the provided screwdriver to carefully remove the screws holding the current housing in place.
- Gently detach the current housing.
- Align the desired new housing (Green or Red) with the clipper body and secure it with the screws.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Powering On/Off
- To turn on the clipper, press the ON/OFF button.
- To turn off the clipper, press the ON/OFF button again.
6.2 Hair Cutting
The VGR V-668 is suitable for both wet and dry haircuts.
- Ensure hair is clean and detangled. For best results, use on dry hair for precision cuts or slightly damp hair for easier gliding.
- Attach the desired guide comb for the initial length. For closer cuts or detailing, use the taper lever without a guide comb.
- Hold the clipper with the blades pointing downwards, against the direction of hair growth.
- Start cutting from the bottom of the head, moving upwards in slow, steady strokes.
- Overlap each stroke to ensure an even cut.
- Use the taper lever to create seamless blends and fades.
- For outlining and detailing, remove the guide comb and use the bare blade with the taper lever set to its lowest setting (0.8mm).
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Blades
- After each use, turn off the clipper and remove any attached guide comb.
- Use the provided cleaning brush to brush away loose hairs from the blades and the clipper body.
- For a more thorough clean, the blades can be carefully detached (refer to specific blade removal instructions if provided, otherwise proceed with caution).
- The clipper has an IPX4 splash-proof construction, allowing for light rinsing of the blades under running water. Ensure the clipper body is not submerged.
- Allow blades to air dry completely before reattaching or storing.
7.2 Oiling the Blades
To maintain optimal performance and blade longevity, it is crucial to oil the blades regularly.
- Apply a few drops of clipper oil (not included due to airline regulations) to the blades after every few uses, or as needed.
- Turn on the clipper for a few seconds to allow the oil to distribute evenly.
- Wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth.
7.3 Storage
- Store the clipper in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Always place the protective cap over the blades when not in use to prevent damage.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Clipper does not turn on. | Battery is depleted. | Charge the clipper for 3.5 hours. |
| Clipper pulls hair or cuts unevenly. | Blades are dull, dirty, or not oiled. | Clean and oil the blades. Ensure blades are properly aligned. |
| Reduced motor speed or power. | Low battery or hair buildup in blades. | Recharge the clipper. Clean the blades thoroughly. |
| Excessive vibration or noise. | Blades may be loose or misaligned. | Check blade alignment and ensure they are securely fastened. |
9. User Tips
- Regular Oiling: Always keep your blades oiled. This significantly extends blade life, ensures smooth operation, and prevents pulling.
- Clean After Every Use: Brushing off hair after each use prevents buildup that can hinder performance and cause overheating.
- Experiment with Taper Lever: The 5-stage taper lever is a powerful tool for blending. Practice on a small section of hair to get a feel for the different lengths before attempting a full haircut.
