2. Safety Information
Always observe basic safety precautions when using electrical test equipment to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Read and understand all instructions in this manual before use.
- Do not apply more than the rated voltage, as marked on the multimeter, between terminals or between any terminal and ground.
- Use caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Always disconnect the test leads from the circuit before changing functions or ranges.
- Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed before operation.
- Do not operate the multimeter if it appears damaged or if the case is open.
- Refer to the back panel of the device for important warnings and fuse specifications.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The MASTECH MY62 Digital Multimeter requires one 9V 6F22 battery (not included). To install the battery:
- Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the multimeter.
- Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
- Insert a new 9V 6F22 battery, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.
3.2 Connecting Test Leads
Connect the test leads to the appropriate input jacks on the multimeter:
- Insert the red test lead into the VΩHzmA jack for voltage, resistance, frequency, or small current measurements.
- Insert the black test lead into the COM (common) jack for all measurements.
- For high current measurements (up to 10A), insert the red test lead into the 10A jack.
- For temperature measurements, connect the K-type thermocouple to the Temp VΩHzmA and COM jacks, ensuring correct polarity.

4. Operating Instructions
The MASTECH MY62 features a rotary switch to select the desired measurement function and range. The display shows the measurement readings.
4.1 Basic Measurements
- Turn On/Off: Use the orange ON/OFF slide switch to power the device. The multimeter has an auto power-off feature to conserve battery life.
- Select Function: Rotate the central dial to the desired measurement function (e.g., DCV for DC Voltage, ACA for AC Current, Ω for Resistance).
- Connect Probes: Connect the test leads to the circuit or component you wish to measure.
- Read Display: Observe the measurement value on the digital display.
4.2 Data Hold Function
Press the HOLD button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release the hold and resume live measurements.
4.3 Temperature Measurement
To measure temperature:
- Rotate the dial to the 'Temp' position.
- Connect the K-type thermocouple to the appropriate input jacks (VΩHzmA and COM).
- Place the tip of the thermocouple on or near the object whose temperature you want to measure.
- Read the temperature on the display.
4.4 hFE Transistor Test
To test transistors:
- Rotate the dial to the 'hFE' position.
- Insert the transistor into the hFE socket, ensuring correct pin configuration (EBC for NPN/PNP).
- Read the hFE value on the display.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the terminals free from dirt and dust.
5.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the 9V battery as described in the 'Battery Installation' section (3.1). Always turn off the multimeter before replacing the battery.
5.3 Fuse Replacement
If the current measurement function fails, the fuse may need replacement. Refer to the warnings on the back of the multimeter for correct fuse specifications (F 250mA/250V and F 10A/500V). Only replace with fuses of the specified type and rating. Opening the case for fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified personnel.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Display/Faint Display: Check battery charge. Replace if low.
- Incorrect Readings: Ensure test leads are correctly connected to the appropriate jacks and the rotary switch is set to the correct function and range. Check for damaged test leads.
- "OL" or Overload Indication: The measured value exceeds the selected range. Switch to a higher range or a different function if applicable.
- No Current Measurement: Check the fuse for the current input. Replace if blown (refer to fuse replacement instructions).
