3. Setup and Connection

  1. Locate the OBD2 Port: The 16-pin OBD2 Data Link Connector (DLC) is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side. Refer to your vehicle's service manual if you cannot find it.
  2. Turn Off Ignition: Ensure the vehicle's ignition is in the OFF position before connecting the scanner.
  3. Connect the Scanner: Plug the V119 scanner's OBD2 connector firmly into the vehicle's DLC.

The V119 scanner can perform a basic battery voltage test. Navigate to the 'Battery Test' option in the menu.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Scanner Does Not Power On:
    • Ensure the OBD2 connector is securely plugged into the vehicle's DLC.
    • Verify the vehicle's ignition is in the ON position.
    • Check the vehicle's fuse for the OBD2 port (consult your vehicle's manual).
  • Link Error/Communication Failure:
    • Confirm the vehicle is OBD2 compliant (most vehicles from 1996 onwards in the US, 2001 in Europe for petrol, 2004 for diesel).
    • Ensure the ignition is ON and the engine is OFF.
    • Try connecting to a different OBD2 compliant vehicle to rule out scanner malfunction.
    • Check for bent pins in the OBD2 connector on both the scanner and the vehicle.
  • Incorrect Code Readings:
    • Ensure the vehicle information (VIN, year, make, model) is correctly entered if prompted.
    • Verify the scanner's software is up to date.
  • DTCs Cannot Be Cleared:
    • If the underlying fault that triggered the code is still present, the code will reappear immediately after clearing. Address the vehicle issue first.
    • Some permanent codes may require multiple drive cycles to clear after the fault is resolved.
