1. Introduction
This Stroboscope is a compact, lightweight, and portable instrument designed for convenient use and operation. Despite its advanced features, it is user-friendly. With proper operating techniques, this rugged device is built for many years of reliable service. Please read these instructions carefully and keep this manual accessible for future reference.
1.1. Features
- When the speed of the moving object matches the flash rate of the stroboscope, the moving object appears still. This unit provides the operator with the illusion of 'stopped motion' where the equipment under observation is actually in motion. By adjusting the flashing rate, moving equipment can appear to be standing still or in apparent slow motion, allowing the observer or operator to study the process in action.
- Wide measuring range and high resolution.
- Digital display provides exact readings without guesswork or errors.
- Automatic stop flashing feature conserves electricity and extends flash tube lifetime.
- Internal/external triggering for fast conversion.
- Dedicated x2 and ÷2 buttons for quick adjustment.
- Utilizes photoelectric signals for external triggering, enabling automatic tracking of patterns.
- Incorporates microcomputer technology, emerging technologies, and anti-jamming techniques for non-contact rotational velocity measurement.

4. Setup
4.1. Power Connection
Plug the supplied power cable into the power cable jack of the instrument. Connect the other end of the cable to an appropriate AC power source. Ensure the power source matches the instrument's requirements to prevent damage. Use the ON/OFF switch to turn the instrument on or off.

5. Operating Procedure
5.1. Marking the Object
To accurately measure the object, it is recommended to 'mark' it. This can be done either visually by noting an inherent distinguishing characteristic (such as a label, scratch, etc.) or physically marking the object with a small piece of tape or a pencil mark.
5.2. Selecting the Range
Depress the H/L button (3-4 on the front panel) to select either the High (Hi) or Low (Low) range. The upper limits for each model vary (refer to the Specifications table). Note that the flashing light is significantly brighter in the low range compared to the high range, which helps prolong the strobe light's lifetime.
5.3. Adjusting Flashing Rate (FPM/RPM)
Adjust the Coarse Knob (3-5) or the Fine Knob (3-6) from the highest FPM setting downwards. The true RPM (revolutions per minute) can be observed once the object appears 'frozen' and the first single image of your 'Mark' becomes visible. Refer to Table 1 and its accompanying diagram for further explanation on how shaft rotation relates to flashing frequency.

Table 1: Shaft Rotation and Flashing Relationship

Figure 3: Control unit with display and adjustment knobs.
5.4. Verifying RPM Reading
To verify the RPM reading, press the "÷2" button (3-10); a single image of the marked object should appear again. Then, press the "x2" button (3-9); two images should appear. This confirms the accuracy of the reading.
5.5. Fast Adjustment and Range Switching
The "÷2" and "×2" buttons are used for fast adjustment of the flashing rate. The "RANGE/H/L" button is for range selection. When measuring, if the current range exceeds 5000 FPM, first press the "RANGE/H/L" button, then rotate the "FINE" and "COARSE" buttons to switch between high and low ranges as needed.
5.6. Trigger Mode Selection
Use the TRIG/INT/EXT button (3-8) to select between internal and external triggering modes as desired. The "EXT" port (3-7) is an external trigger socket for connecting external trigger signals. After completing your work, shut down the instrument and unplug the power plug.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Flash Tube Replacement
If the display shows a reading but the unit is not flashing, the flash tube may need to be replaced. Consult the full PDF manual for detailed instructions on how to safely replace the flash tube.
6.2. Auto Stop Flashing
The stroboscope's light will automatically stop flashing approximately 5 minutes after being powered on. This feature is designed to prolong the lifetime of the strobe light. To reactivate the flashing, simply power off the stroboscope and then power it on again.
7. Safety Precautions
- This device creates the illusion of moving objects appearing still. Always take precautions to avoid accidental contact with moving objects during operation.
- Do not look directly at the emitted light for extended periods, as it can be harmful to your eyes.
- Avoid touching the flash tube, especially during or immediately after operation, as it can be hot.
- Do not operate or store the instrument in hazardous environments such as explosive areas, near water, oil, dust, chemicals, or areas with excessively high temperatures.
8. User Tips
- For best results, ensure the object being measured has a clear, distinct mark. This helps in accurately 'freezing' the image.
- When working with very high or very low RPMs, use the 'RANGE/H/L' button to select the appropriate range before fine-tuning with the Coarse and Fine knobs.
- Always double-check your readings using the x2 and ÷2 buttons to confirm the correct RPM.
9. Troubleshooting
- No Flash, Display On: The flash tube may be worn out or faulty. Refer to the 'Flash Tube Replacement' section or consult the full PDF manual.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the object is properly marked. Verify that the correct range (High/Low) is selected. Adjust the Fine and Coarse knobs slowly and carefully until the image is perfectly still.
- Unit Not Powering On: Check the power cable connection to both the instrument and the AC power source. Ensure the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Intermittent Flashing: This could be due to the auto-stop feature. Power the unit off and then on again. If the issue persists, check power connections.
