5. Setup

5.1 Initial Setup

5.1.1 SIM Card Installation

  1. Ensure the Smart Hub is powered off.
  2. Insert a micro SIM card (supporting 2G/GSM or 4G network) into the SIM card slot on the back of the hub.
  3. Make sure the SIM card's security code is permanently deactivated.
  4. If using a 4G SIM card, confirm that your wireless service provider still supports 2G network in your country, as the hub relies on 2G for cellular communication.

5.1.2 Wi-Fi Connection (for Cellular + Wi-Fi model only)

The hub supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks only. It does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.

  1. Ensure your Wi-Fi router is configured for a 2.4GHz network. If you have a dual-band router with the same name for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, separate them into distinct names in your router settings.
  2. Your Wi-Fi password must not contain spaces or special characters.
  3. Disable the AP isolation setting in your router.
  4. Place the hub as close as possible to your router for optimal signal strength.
  5. For best performance, ensure your network has an upload speed of at least 2Mbps.

5.1.3 App Download and Device Pairing

  1. Download the "Smart Security System" app by scanning the QR code provided in the product packaging or searching for it in your phone's app store.
  2. Register an account and log in.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone in advance.
  4. On the Smart Hub, navigate to Main Menu > WIFI > Smart Link Confirm.
  5. In the Tuya app, tap the "+" button on the home page, then select "Add Device" (automatic device discovery).
  6. Connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  7. The app will automatically discover and add the "Multifunction alarm".

6. Pairing Sensors and Accessories

The system can connect with up to 100 wireless sensors, 10 remote tags, and 10 RFID tags.

6.1 General Pairing Process

  1. On the Smart Hub, navigate to Main Menu > Parts > [Remote/RFID/Detector] > Add.
  2. Enter a unique digit (0-9) to designate a number for the device.
  3. The hub will display "Synchronizing" and a countdown.
  4. Trigger the sensor/remote (e.g., press a button, tap RFID, activate PIR/door sensor).
  5. The hub will confirm with "Learning OK" and "Device code has been learned".

6.2 Specific Device Pairing

  • Remote Control: Press any button on the remote control.
  • RFID Card: Tap the RFID card on the RFID zone of the panel.
  • PIR Motion Detector: Activate the PIR motion detector by waving your hand in front of it.
  • Door/Window Sensor: Separate the magnet from the sensor.
  • Wireless Siren: Press and hold the SET button on the siren until you hear two beeps, then press the '√' button on the hub panel within 6 seconds.
  • Alarm Wireless Switch: Press and hold the button on the switch until it lights up, then tap the appropriate direction button (◄/▲ or ▼/) on the hub to send ON/OFF signals.

7. Installation Guidelines

7.1 Smart Hub Placement

  • Place the hub close to where you frequently enter and exit for easy access.
  • Ensure the chosen location has good Wi-Fi and cellular signal strength.
  • Plug the hub into an unswitched wall outlet to prevent accidental power loss.

7.2 Door/Window Sensor Installation

  • Mount the sensor and its magnet so they are aligned in the middle.
  • When the door or window is closed, the gap between the sensor and magnet should be no more than 0.6 inches (1.5cm).

7.3 PIR Motion Detector Installation

  • Mount the detector on an interior wall at a height of 79 to 87 inches (2 to 2.2m) above the floor.
  • Avoid installing outdoors, in garages, or in areas where motion can be detected through glass.
  • Do not install in wet areas or near heat sources (e.g., electric heaters, vents, fireplaces) that can cause turbulent air.
  • Ensure no large appliances or furniture obstruct the detector's motion sensors.

8. Operation

8.1 Security Levels

  • Away Arm: All sensors in your home are monitored. Ideal when no one is home.
  • Home Arm: Normal and Delay sensors are monitored, but interior sensors are not. Useful when you are home but want perimeter security.
  • Disarmed: No sensors are monitored, except for 24-hour sensors.

8.2 Arming and Disarming the System

You can arm or disarm your system using one of the following methods:

  • RFID Tag: Tap the RFID tag on the panel's RFID zone.
  • Remote Tag: Press the Away Arm, Home Arm, Disarm, or SOS button on the remote.
  • Panel: Enter your passcode on the keypad and press the Arm/Stay Arm/Disarm icons.
  • APP: Use the dedicated mobile application to tap the Away Arm, Home Arm, or Disarm icons.

8.3 Exit/Entry Delay

Exit and Entry Delays are countdowns that allow you to leave or enter your home without triggering an immediate alarm. The default Exit Delay is 40 seconds, and the Entry Delay is 30 seconds. You can adjust these times via Menu > Settings > Delay > Exit Delay/Entry Delay.

8.4 Making Calls

On the home screen, tap the phone icon, enter the desired number, and press '√' to dial. The call will be canceled if the cellular network is not registered, the system is armed, or in voice alarming mode.

8.5 Scheduled Settings

You can set daily arm and disarm schedules via Menu > Timer > Arm Timer/Disarm Timer. This allows the system to automatically arm or disarm at specified times.

Figure 8: Remote notifications and scheduled arm/disarm.

8.6 Voice Message Recording

The system allows you to record, play, and delete a brief voice message (1-20 seconds) via Menu > Record. This message can be played back to the remote when an alarm call is connected.

9. Maintenance

9.1 Battery Backup

The Smart Hub includes a built-in backup battery (3.7V, 500mAh) that provides power for more than 6 hours in case of an electrical outage. The battery icon in the upper-right corner of the display shows the battery level. When the backup battery is low, the icon turns red, and low battery notifications are sent to registered phone numbers. A full charge takes 8 to 12 hours.

9.2 Sensor Battery Replacement

When a wireless sensor's battery is low, its LED indicator will blink. Replace the battery promptly to ensure continuous protection.

9.3 Tamper Detection

The Smart Hub and some sensors are equipped with tamper switches. If the hub is removed from its back plate or a sensor is tampered with, an alert notification will be sent to you.

10. Troubleshooting

  • No Cellular Network Connection: Ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted, activated, and its security code is deactivated. Verify 2G network availability in your area if using a 4G SIM.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Double-check that you are connecting to a 2.4GHz network and that your Wi-Fi password is correct (no spaces or special characters). Ensure AP isolation is disabled on your router.
  • Keypad Locked: If an incorrect password is entered 5 times consecutively, the keyboard will lock for 90 seconds as a security measure.
  • False Alarms: Adjust the Exit/Entry Delay times in the settings to allow sufficient time for leaving or entering the premises.
  • Sensors Not Triggering: Ensure sensors are correctly paired and their batteries are not low. Check installation guidelines for optimal placement.
  • Reset to Factory Settings: If persistent issues occur, you can reset the hub via Menu > Settings > Initialization or by pressing the TAMPER switch 5 times. Note that this will delete all paired accessories and event logs.
