Switching Between Computers

The KVM switch offers two methods for switching between connected computers (PC1 and PC2):

  • Front Panel Button: Press the "Select" button on the front panel of the KVM switch to toggle between PC1 and PC2. An LED indicator will show which PC is currently active.
  • Desktop Controller: Use the external wired desktop controller by pressing its button to switch between PC1 and PC2. This provides convenient switching without reaching for the KVM unit.

Display Working Modes

The KVM switch supports two primary display working modes for your monitors:

  • Extend Mode: The two monitors function as a "Main screen" and an "Extend screen," providing an expanded desktop area.
  • Duplicate (Mirror) Mode: Both monitors display the same content, functioning as a "Main screen" and a "Mirror screen."

These modes are typically configured within your operating system's display settings (e.g., Windows Display Settings, macOS System Settings).

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surface of the KVM switch. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the KVM switch is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
  • Power: Always use the provided DC12V/2A power adapter. Using an incorrect power adapter may damage the device.
  • Cable Management: Keep cables organized and free from kinks or excessive bending to prevent signal degradation or damage.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No display on monitor after switching.
  • Loose DisplayPort cable connection.
  • Incorrect display settings on PC.
  • KVM switch not powered on.
  • PC not outputting video.
  • Check and re-secure all DisplayPort cables.
  • Verify display settings on the active PC (resolution, refresh rate, extend/duplicate mode).
  • Ensure the KVM switch is powered on and the LED indicator is lit for the selected PC.
  • Check PC's video output directly to a monitor.
Keyboard/Mouse not responding.
  • Loose USB cable connection.
  • USB cable from PC to KVM not connected.
  • KVM switch not powered on.
  • Incompatible keyboard/mouse (rare).
  • Check and re-secure all USB cables, especially the USB-C cables from PCs to the KVM.
  • Ensure the KVM switch is powered on.
  • Try connecting the keyboard/mouse to different USB ports on the KVM.
  • Test keyboard/mouse directly with the PC.
USB 3.0 devices (e.g., external hard drive) not detected or unstable.
  • Insufficient power supply to the KVM.
  • Loose USB 3.0 cable connection.
  • Ensure the DC12V/2A power adapter is correctly connected and providing stable power.
  • Check and re-secure the USB 3.0 device cable.
  • Some high-power devices may require their own external power supply.
Video flickering or black screen when playing copyrighted content.HDCP compatibility issue. The KVM switch supports HDCP 2.3. Ensure your source device and monitors also support HDCP 2.3 or a compatible version. Update graphics drivers if necessary.

7. User Tips

  • USB-C for Data Only: The USB-C ports on the KVM switch are for connecting the USB data channels from your PCs to the KVM, enabling shared peripherals. They do not carry video signals; video input is exclusively via the DisplayPort inputs.
  • High Refresh Rates: While the KVM supports up to 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz, the actual refresh rate for lower resolutions like Full HD (1080p) will depend on your graphics card, monitor capabilities, and cable quality. The KVM itself is designed to pass through high refresh rates supported by DP1.4.
  • Cable Quality: For optimal performance, especially with high resolutions and refresh rates, use high-quality DisplayPort 1.4 cables and USB 3.0 cables.
  • Power Stability: The KVM switch uses a DC12V/2A power adapter. Ensure it's always connected, especially when using power-hungry USB devices like external hard drives, to prevent disconnections or instability.
