6. User Tips
- SD Card vs. Cloud Storage: For local storage, an SD card requires manual data transfer to a computer for viewing. Cloud storage, a value-added service, allows direct viewing in the app and offers a trial period. Be aware of data retention limits for both options.
- Device Management: You can modify device photos, names, channel names, and passwords directly within the IMOU Life app via the preview page settings or through 'Me' -> 'My Device'.
- Wi-Fi Changes: If you change your Wi-Fi network or move the camera, you can reconnect it via Ethernet if available (wait for stable blue LED), then use 'Wi-Fi Config' in the app. If no Ethernet port or cable, reset the camera to factory default and set it up again with the new Wi-Fi.
- Alarm Messages: To receive alarm messages, ensure notifications are enabled in both your phone's settings and the IMOU app ('Me' -> 'Settings' -> 'Notice'). Also, verify that the event (e.g., motion detection) is enabled in the device settings with a valid time schedule, and the camera has an internet connection.
- Night Vision Clarity: If night images are all black, check if the IR LED is lighting up. If it is, but the image remains black, there might be an issue with the ICR. Remember that consumer cameras have limited IR distance (typically less than 10m), so objects too far away may not be visible.

8. Troubleshooting
8.1 App Issues
- "Failed to bind" message: This indicates the device successfully connected to Wi-Fi but failed to link to your IMOU account. Ensure your router has a stable internet connection and try again.
- Camera already bound to another account: For security, a camera can only be bound to one IMOU account. Delete it from the previous account before adding it to a new one. To delete: Go to preview page > gear icon (top right) > device settings > scroll to bottom > Delete Device. Alternatively, 'Me' > 'My Device' > select device > scroll to bottom > Delete Device.
8.2 Connectivity Issues
- Changing Wi-Fi network: If your camera has an Ethernet port, connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable until the LED is solid blue. Then, in the IMOU Life app, go to device settings > 'Wi-Fi Config' to connect to the new Wi-Fi. If no Ethernet port, reset the camera to factory default and set it up again with the new Wi-Fi.
8.3 Performance Issues
- No alarm messages: Ensure notifications are enabled in your phone's settings and the IMOU app ('Me' > 'Settings' > 'Notice'). Verify that the specific event (e.g., motion detection) is enabled in the device settings with a valid time schedule, and that the camera has an active internet connection.
- Night image is all black: Check if the IR LED is lighting up. If it is, but the image remains black, there might be an issue with the ICR (Infrared Cut-off Filter). Also, note that the effective IR distance for consumer cameras is typically less than 10m, so objects beyond this range may appear dark.
9. Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lens and solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear vision and efficient charging. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Firmware Updates: Check the IMOU Life app regularly for firmware updates to ensure your camera has the latest features and security enhancements.
- Battery Health: Monitor battery levels via the app, especially during prolonged periods of low sunlight, to ensure continuous operation.
- Connection Check: Periodically verify the camera's Wi-Fi connection and the physical connection of the solar panel cable.
