6. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter with your ORICO Dual Flash Drive:

1. Transfer speed does not match the advertised label:

Cause: Actual transfer speeds can vary based on several factors, including your PC's configuration, the type of files being transferred, and the USB interface used.

Solution:

  • Confirm PC Configuration: Ensure your computer's USB port supports USB 3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps) for maximum performance. Older USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports will result in slower speeds.
  • File Type: Copying individual large files (e.g., videos, compressed archives) typically yields higher speeds than transferring many small, fragmented files. Fragmented files can significantly reduce transfer rates.
  • Testing Tools: If you wish to verify the transfer speed, use a reliable disk benchmark tool like CrystalDiskMark. Note that real-world file copying performance may differ slightly from benchmark results.

2. If the product is damaged, can the data be recovered?

Cause: Physical damage or severe logical errors can make data inaccessible.

Solution: ORICO does not provide data recovery services. If your data is critical and the drive is damaged, it is recommended to consult a professional third-party data recovery company.

3. Why is the product capacity less than the marked capacity?

Cause: This is a common discrepancy due to different calculation methods used by manufacturers and operating systems.

Solution:

  • Decimal vs. Binary: Manufacturers typically define 1GB as 1,000,000,000 bytes (decimal system). Operating systems (like Windows) often calculate capacity using the binary system, where 1GB = 1024MB, and 1MB = 1024KB, leading to a slightly lower displayed capacity (e.g., 1TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, but a computer might display it as approximately 0.909 TB). This is normal and not an indication of a defective product.
