- Press the START button twice continuously. The buzzer will ring "Di, Di" to indicate the start of the clone process.
- When cloning begins, the corresponding indicators on the panel will flash to show the copy progress. When cloning is completed, all 4 blue indicator lights will be on, and the buzzer will ring. After 10 minutes, the hard disk will enter dormant state. [Diagram showing progress indicators and completion lights]
Hard Drive Removal Instructions (PC Mode)
In PC mode, if you need to replace a hard disk or turn off the device, please stop all read-write operations first. Then, safely eject/remove the device from the computer. A forced shutdown may cause data abnormalities or loss.
Error Warning Prompt Function
- If the hard disk is only inserted into the target disk position for cloning, the buzzer will continue to ring for errors.
- If only one hard drive is inserted for cloning, the buzzer will continue to ring for errors.
- If the capacity of the target disk is less than the source disk, the buzzer will ring for errors, and the indicator light of the corresponding disk will flash.
Clone Notes:
- The capacity of the target disk must be larger than or equal to that of the source disk; otherwise, cloning cannot start.
- Please back up the data of the target hard disk first, otherwise, the data will be erased once cloning begins.
- The clone time depends on the capacity of the hard disk; please be patient.
- Do not turn off the power or remove the disks before cloning is finished.
- The clone function does not require a computer, so no USB cable is needed for cloning.
Initialize and Format New Drives under Microsoft Windows
New drives need to be initialized and formatted to work correctly. Follow these steps if you are mounting a new drive:
- Ensure the ORICO duplicator is correctly installed and connected to the computer.
- Right-click on "Computer" (or "This PC"), select "Manage", then open "Disk Management" under "Storage". A popup window will appear suggesting a new drive needs to be initialized. Select the disks and click "OK" to initialize them. [Screenshot of Windows Disk Management showing initialization prompt, including options for MBR/GPT]
- Note:
- If the drive is not larger than 2TB and you are using Windows Vista or earlier, initializing with MBR partition style is recommended.
- If the drive is larger than 2TB, initializing with GPT partition style is recommended. Otherwise, only 2TB will be usable.
- If the initialization window does not appear, right-click on the "Disk Number" (e.g., Disk 2) and select "Initialize Disk".
- Right-click on the unallocated space of the new drive and select "New Simple Volume" to start the process of adding a new volume and formatting it. [Screenshot of Disk Management showing unallocated space and context menu with "New Simple Volume" option]
- Set the volume size: You can customize the size or set it to the maximum disk space to create a single volume. [Screenshot of New Simple Volume Wizard - Specify Volume Size]
- Assign drive letter or path: Assign a drive letter (e.g., G:) or mount it in an empty NTFS folder for easier access. [Screenshot of New Simple Volume Wizard - Assign Drive Letter or Path]
- Format the new volume: Choose the file system (NTFS, FAT32, or exFAT), allocation unit size (default is recommended), and volume label. Performing a quick format is recommended. Click "Next". [Screenshot of New Simple Volume Wizard - Format Partition]
- Click "Finish" to start the formatting process. [Screenshot of New Simple Volume Wizard - Completing the Wizard]
