5. Setup Guide

5.1 Hardware Installation

  1. Choose Probe Type: Select either the waterproof NTC probe (for liquids like aquariums, fish tanks, aquatic breeding) or the magnetic metal NTC probe (for surface temperature of metal objects like radiators, conduits, boilers).
  2. Connect Probe: Plug the 3-meter temperature probe into the designated port on the side of the S1BWT device.
  3. Position Probe: Place the probe in the environment where temperature monitoring and control are required. Ensure the probe is securely positioned and not exposed to fire or water (for magnetic metal probe).
  4. Power On: Plug the S1BWT device into a suitable power outlet (EU/US/UK/FR/AU plug type). The device will boot up and display its interface.

5.2 Mobile App Installation and Pairing

The S1BWT supports remote control via the Smart Life or Tuya APP. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

  1. Download App: Search for "Smart Life" or "Tuya" in your mobile app store (Google Play Store for Android, Apple App Store for iOS) and install it.
  2. Enable Permissions: Before adding the device, ensure Bluetooth and location permissions are enabled on your mobile phone.
  3. Add Device:
    • Open the Smart Life app. A pop-up may appear to add a device; click "Add" to proceed.
    • If no pop-up, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device.
    • Select "Add Device" and choose to manually enter the password for your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
  4. Enter Pairing Mode: After powering on the S1BWT, its red light will flash. This indicates it's waiting for a WiFi connection.
  5. Complete Pairing:
    • Follow the on-screen instructions in the app.
    • Confirm the device is flashing.
    • Once paired successfully, the app will show a confirmation. Click "Done".
  6. Remote Control: After a successful WiFi connection, open the app to automatically connect and control the device remotely.

6. Operation

6.1 Device Interface Navigation

The S1BWT features a 2.4-inch color screen and physical buttons for direct operation.

  • "Power" Button: Short press to switch between display interfaces.
  • "M/OK" Button: Short press to switch between ON/OFF/Cooling/Heating modes. Long press to enter background system settings.
  • "+" Button: Adjust parameters (increase value) in settings. Long press to enter another function test interface.
  • "-" Button: Adjust parameters (decrease value) in settings.

6.2 Display Interfaces

6.3 Operating Modes (via Mobile App)

The mobile app provides comprehensive control over the S1BWT's operating modes:

  • Switch (ON/OFF) Mode: Directly turn the connected appliance on or off.
  • Heating Mode:
    • Set a "Heating Start Temp" and "Heating Stop Temp".
    • The device will automatically turn on the power when the temperature is lower than the start temperature.
    • It will disconnect power when the temperature is higher than the stop temperature.
    • Note: The stop temperature must be at least three degrees higher than the start temperature.
  • Cooling Mode:
    • Set a "Cooling Start Temp" and "Cooling Stop Temp".
    • The device will automatically turn on the power when the temperature is higher than the start temperature.
    • It will disconnect power when the temperature is lower than the stop temperature.
    • Note: The stop temperature must be at least three degrees lower than the start temperature.

The mobile app allows for intelligent timing and scheduling of operations:

  • Switching Mode Schedule: Set schedules for turning the device ON/OFF.
  • Heating Mode Schedule: Program specific times for heating to start and stop.
  • Cooling Mode Schedule: Program specific times for cooling to start and stop.

6.6 Electricity Fee Calculation Modes

The device supports three electricity tariff modes:

  1. Single Rate Price: Calculates electricity bills based on a single rate.
  2. Ladder Price: Allows setting two types of electricity tariff coefficients. When current electricity consumption reaches a corresponding value, two different charges are calculated.
  3. Peak Valley Price: Supports 24-hour segmented settings for electricity price parameters, power coefficient, etc., offering flexible billing.

6.7 System Settings (Device Interface)

To access and adjust system settings directly on the device:

  1. Enter Settings: Press and hold the "M/OK" key to enter the background settings.
  2. Navigate Items: Switch to the next item with the "+" key. Return to the previous item with the "-" key.
  3. Enter Content Settings: Short press the "M/OK" key to enter content settings for the selected item.
  4. Adjust Parameters: Use the "+" or "-" keys to adjust parameters.
  5. Confirm: Long press the "M/OK" key to confirm changes.
  6. Exit: Long press the "M/OK" key again to return to the testing interface.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the device's exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the temperature probe is clean and free of debris for accurate readings.

7.2 Firmware Updates

The S1BWT supports lifetime free firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and new features.

  • WiFi Networking Remote Firmware Upgrade: The device can be updated wirelessly via WiFi. Ensure the device is connected to power and the internet during the upgrade process. Do not operate the device during an update.
  • PC Online OTA Bluetooth Upgrade: For Android users, firmware can be updated via Bluetooth connection to a PC.
    1. Scan the QR code on your Android phone to download the corresponding APP software.
    2. After installation, open the software and click the Bluetooth icon to use it.
    3. Add a Bluetooth device to the S1BWT-BLE serial port device online on a PC computer.
    4. Scan the QR code to download the corresponding APP software and save it.
    5. Open the software without installation and select the newly added Bluetooth serial port model to successfully connect and use it.

    Note: Bluetooth function only supports Android, not iOS.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Common Issues and Solutions
