1. Introduction

The Manhot Matter WiFi Smart Wall Light Switch offers advanced control over your home lighting. Compatible with Matter, Apple HomeKit, Siri Voice, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa, this switch provides both physical push-button control and smart app/voice command capabilities. It supports both neutral wire and no-neutral wire installations, making it versatile for various home electrical setups.

4. Safety Information

  • Always cut off the power at the circuit breaker before installation or maintenance.
  • Ensure you have basic electrical wiring knowledge or experience. If unsure, consult a professional electrician.
  • This switch is designed for controlling lamps only and is not recommended for use as other electrical breakers.
  • The switch supports one-way/single-pole circuits only. It is NOT compatible with 3-way circuits.

5. Installation

5.1 Pre-installation Notes

  • The Wi-Fi function of this switch only supports a 2.4GHz network. It is not compatible with 5.0GHz networks. Ensure your home network is 2.4GHz and your phone is connected to it during setup.
  • The ON/OFF button can also serve as a reset button. Long-pressing it for 5 seconds will reset your smart switch to factory defaults. Only perform this action if you intend to erase all current settings.

5.2 Physical Installation Steps

  1. Open the product package and locate the smart switch and the iron plate.
  2. Secure the iron plate to your mounting box using the two provided screws and a screwdriver.
  3. Carefully snap the smart switch onto the installed iron plate.

5.3 Wiring Diagrams

The Manhot Smart Wall Switch supports both neutral wire and no-neutral wire configurations. Please identify your home's wiring setup before proceeding.

5.3.1 Neutral Wire Required Mode

If your home wiring includes a neutral wire, connect the switch as shown in the diagram below. The capacitor is not required in this configuration.

Safety Notice:

  • A neutral wire is needed to power the switch.

5.3.2 No Neutral Wire Required Mode

If your home wiring does not include a neutral wire, you must connect the provided capacitor to the L1 light according to the circuit diagram below.

  • The capacitor must be connected to L1 and the Neutral Wire.

6. Setup: App Installation & Pairing

6.1 Install the "Smart Life" App

  1. Search for "Smart Life" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or scan the QR code provided in the original user manual (PDF) to download and install the app.
  2. Register for a new account using your email address or phone number and follow the prompts to obtain a verification code. If you already have a Smart Life account, simply log in.
  3. The free "Smart Life" app is compatible with mobile devices running iOS 8.0 or above, and Android 4.4 or above.

6.2 Pairing the Smart Switch (Default Mode)

The switch uses a WiFi+Bluetooth pairing mode for automatic identification and easy configuration, allowing quick connection within 8 seconds.

  1. Ensure your home Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz and your phone is connected to it.
  2. Make sure the indicator light on the switch is blinking rapidly. If not, long-press the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds to reset the switch until the indicator blinks rapidly.
  3. Open the "Smart Life" app, tap the "+" button to add a device.
  4. The app should automatically discover the switch. Select the switch (Wi-Fi) from the list.
  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password to join your network.
  6. Wait for the device to connect successfully. Once connected, you can modify the device name in the app.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 App Remote Control

Control your lights from anywhere using the Apple Home App, Smart Life App, Google Home App, or Siri Voice App. You can pair and connect the device by scanning the QR code on the device via these apps.

7.2 Voice Control

The switch supports voice commands through Siri, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. Simply link your Smart Life account to your preferred voice assistant and use commands like "Hey Siri, Turn on the matter switch."

7.3 Push Button Operation

The physical push buttons on the switch are durable and responsive, providing a traditional method of control alongside smart features.

7.4 Timing Control

Schedule your routines by setting timers in the Smart Life app. This allows for automated control of your lights, such as turning them off at a specific time or after a countdown.

Timing Function Steps:

  1. In the app, navigate to the switch's settings and select the 'Timing' or 'Schedule' option.
  2. Choose the specific switch (gang) you wish to apply the timing rule to.
  3. Set the desired timing rules, including start/end times, days of the week, and actions (e.g., turn on/off).

7.5 Restart Status Definition Function

You can define the switch's behavior after a power outage. The restart status can be set to 'On', 'Off', or 'Keep as last status' in the app settings.

7.6 Device Sharing Function

7.7 APP Group Control

7.8 Backlight Switch On/Off

7.9 Matter Enabled Hub Requirement

A Matter-enabled hub is required for full Matter functionality. Matter devices can work with any Matter-certified ecosystem simultaneously, eliminating the need to choose a single controller, platform, or app.

8. User Tips

  • 3-Way Compatibility: This smart switch is designed for one-way/single-pole circuits only and is not compatible with 3-way switch setups. Please verify your wiring before purchase and installation.
  • Wi-Fi Network: Always ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz during setup, as the switch does not support 5.0GHz networks.
  • Capacitor for No-Neutral Wiring: If you are installing the switch without a neutral wire, remember to connect the provided capacitor to the L1 light and the neutral wire for proper operation.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your smart switch, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • Switch Not Responding: Ensure the power is on at the circuit breaker. Check wiring connections for security.
  • Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
    • Verify your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz.
    • Ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during pairing.
    • Confirm the indicator light is blinking rapidly. If not, long-press the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds to reset the switch.
    • Move the switch closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
  • Voice Control Issues: Ensure your Smart Life account is correctly linked to your voice assistant (Siri, Google Home, Alexa) and that the device is online in the Smart Life app.
  • Lights Flicker (No Neutral Wire): Double-check that the capacitor is correctly installed at the L1 light and neutral wire as per the wiring diagram for no-neutral setups.
