Setup and Installation
1. Mounting
The PDB features a standard 30.5mm x 30.5mm mounting hole pattern, compatible with most flight controller stacks. Use M3 screws for secure installation. Ensure no components on the PDB or adjacent boards are shorted during mounting.

2. Wiring Connections
Careful wiring is crucial for the proper function and safety of your drone. Refer to the wiring diagram and board layout for correct connections.

- Battery Input (BAT 3-12S GND): Solder your main battery lead (positive and negative) to the large BAT and GND pads on the bottom of the board. Ensure correct polarity. The PDB supports 3-12S LiPo batteries (8-60V DC).
- ESCs (S1-S8): Connect the signal wires from your ESCs to the corresponding S1-S8 pads on the PDB. The ground wires from the ESCs should connect to the adjacent GND pads. Power leads from ESCs connect to the large positive and negative pads on the corners of the PDB.
- Flight Controller Power:
- 5V Output: Connect the 5V and GND pads from the PDB to the 5V and GND inputs on your flight controller or other 5V accessories.
- 12V Output: Connect the 12V and GND pads from the PDB to the 12V and GND inputs on your flight controller or other 12V accessories (e.g., VTX, Camera).
- 24V Output: Connect the 24V and GND pads from the PDB to the 24V and GND inputs on your flight controller or other 24V accessories.
- Telemetry (TX): If your ESCs support telemetry, connect the telemetry output from your ESCs to the TX pads on the PDB. This allows the flight controller to receive real-time data from the ESCs.
- Capacitor: Solder the included electrolytic capacitor to the main battery input pads (BAT and GND) to help filter power noise. Ensure correct polarity (long lead is positive).
Warning: Always double-check all connections for correct polarity and solder joints before applying power. Incorrect wiring can cause severe damage to components.
Operating Instructions
- After completing all wiring and mounting, perform a continuity check with a multimeter to ensure there are no short circuits, especially between positive and negative battery terminals.
- Connect your LiPo battery to the main battery input. The PDB will power up and provide regulated voltages to connected components.
- Verify that your flight controller and other accessories are receiving the correct voltages (5V, 12V, 24V) as expected.
- If using telemetry, ensure your flight controller is configured to receive data from the ESCs via the PDB.
- Proceed with flight controller setup and ESC calibration as per your flight controller and ESC manuals.
Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect all solder joints and connections for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loose connections.
- Cleaning: Keep the PDB clean from dust, dirt, and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air. Avoid using liquids directly on the board.
- Damage Check: In case of a crash or hard landing, inspect the PDB for any physical damage, cracked components, or lifted pads. Replace if damaged.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power to flight controller/ESCs | Incorrect battery connection, short circuit, faulty solder joint. | Check battery polarity, inspect all solder joints for continuity, test for shorts with a multimeter. |
| Incorrect voltage output from BECs | Faulty BEC, incorrect wiring to flight controller. | Verify BEC output with a multimeter. Check wiring to ensure 5V, 12V, or 24V lines are connected to appropriate inputs. |
| Telemetry not working | ESCs do not support telemetry, incorrect wiring, flight controller not configured. | Confirm ESC telemetry support. Check TX wiring. Configure flight controller software for telemetry input. |
| PDB gets excessively hot | Overcurrent, short circuit, damaged component. | Immediately disconnect power. Check for shorts. Ensure total current draw does not exceed PDB's continuous rating. Inspect for damaged components. |
User Tips
- Always use a smoke stopper during initial power-up to prevent damage in case of a short circuit.
- Ensure all solder joints are clean and shiny, indicating a good connection. Cold solder joints can lead to intermittent issues or power loss.
- When connecting the capacitor, pay close attention to its polarity. Reversing it will cause it to fail.
- For high-current applications, consider reinforcing main battery connections with additional solder or larger gauge wire if necessary.
