1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating this voltage converter. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Input Voltage Selection: Before connecting the converter to a power source, always verify and select the correct input voltage (110V or 230V) using the red switch on the unit. Mismatching the input voltage with your household voltage will cause the fuse to burn out and may damage the unit or connected appliances.
  • Placement: Place the converter on a stable, flat, and dry surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Do not block the ventilation openings.
  • Load Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum wattage rating of the converter. Always ensure the total wattage of all connected appliances is less than the converter's rated capacity. It is recommended to use a converter with a VA rating 20-25% higher than the appliance's wattage for safety and optimal performance.
  • Protection Features: This converter is equipped with Overload Protection and Short Circuit Protection. In case of an overload or short circuit, the unit will automatically shut down to prevent damage.
  • Water and Moisture: Do not expose the converter to rain, moisture, or operate it in wet conditions.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the converter out of reach of children and pets.
  • Servicing: Do not attempt to open or service the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

3. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack the Converter: Carefully remove the converter from its packaging and inspect it for any signs of damage.
  2. Choose a Location: Place the converter on a stable, dry, and well-ventilated surface. Ensure there is enough space around the unit for air circulation, especially near the heat output vents.
  3. Select Input Voltage: Locate the red input voltage selector switch on the back of the unit (refer to Figure 1). Set this switch to match your local household voltage (e.g., 110V for North America, 230V for Europe). This step is critical to prevent damage.
  4. Connect to Power: Plug the converter's power cord into a wall outlet. Ensure the wall outlet provides the voltage you selected in the previous step.
  5. Connect Appliances: Plug your appliance(s) into the appropriate output sockets on the front of the converter. Use the 110V output sockets for 110V appliances and the 230V output sockets for 230V appliances. Ensure the total wattage of connected appliances does not exceed the converter's capacity.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: After completing the setup, press the 'ON' side of the power switch located on the front panel. The power indicator light (usually green) will illuminate.
  2. Using Output Sockets:
    • If your household voltage is 110V and you need to power a 230V appliance, plug the appliance into the 'OUTPUT 230V' sockets.
    • If your household voltage is 230V and you need to power a 110V appliance, plug the appliance into the 'OUTPUT 110V' sockets.
  3. Power Off: To turn off the converter, press the 'OFF' side of the power switch. The power indicator light will turn off.
  4. Disconnecting: Always turn off the converter and unplug appliances before disconnecting the converter from the wall outlet.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Ensure the converter is unplugged before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Regularly check that the ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris to ensure efficient heat dissipation. Blocked vents can lead to overheating.
  • Fuse Replacement: If the fuse burns out due to incorrect voltage selection or an electrical fault, it will need to be replaced. Refer to the specifications for the correct fuse type and rating. Always unplug the unit before attempting to replace the fuse.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the converter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

6. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Converter does not power on:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the converter and the wall outlet.
    • Ensure the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
    • Check the fuse. If it's blown, replace it with a fuse of the correct rating (refer to specifications).
    • Verify the input voltage selector switch is set correctly for your household voltage.
  • Appliance does not receive power:
    • Ensure the appliance is correctly plugged into the appropriate output socket (110V or 230V).
    • Check if the appliance itself is working by testing it in a known good outlet or with another power source.
    • The converter's overload protection may have activated. Unplug the appliance, turn off the converter, wait a few minutes, and then restart. Ensure the appliance's wattage does not exceed the converter's capacity.
  • Converter makes unusual noise or smells burnt:
    • Immediately turn off and unplug the converter.
    • This could indicate an internal fault or severe overload. Do not attempt to use the unit again. Contact customer support.

8. User Tips

  • Wattage Margin: For appliances with motors (e.g., refrigerators, blenders, power tools), it is advisable to choose a converter with a wattage capacity at least 2-3 times higher than the appliance's rated wattage to account for startup surges.
  • Continuous Use: For continuous operation (more than 3 hours), it is recommended to use a converter that is rated at least 50% higher than the appliance's wattage to prevent overheating and prolong the converter's lifespan.
  • Check Appliance Labels: Always check the voltage and wattage requirements on your appliance's label before connecting it to the converter.
  • Unplug When Not in Use: To save energy and ensure safety, unplug the converter from the wall outlet when it is not in use.
