KERUI HW12

KERUI Wireless PIR Motion Sensor Infrared Detector Alarm User Manual

Model: HW12

1. Introduction

The KERUI Wireless PIR Motion Sensor is designed to enhance the security of your home or business by detecting movement. Utilizing passive infrared (PIR) technology, this detector senses the presence of people, animals, or other objects within its detection zone. When motion is detected, the sensor triggers an alarm and sends a signal to your connected KERUI alarm system panel. The alarm system will then activate its siren and can send SMS messages or make calls to pre-set phone numbers, ensuring you receive immediate notification of potential intrusions.

Important Note: This motion sensor is designed to work exclusively with compatible KERUI alarm systems, such as the W202 and W181 models. It cannot operate independently.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand the following safety guidelines before installing and operating your motion sensor:

  • Indoor Use Only: This device is intended for indoor use. Do not install it outdoors or in areas exposed to direct weather conditions.
  • Avoid Heat Sources: Do not face the PIR sensor towards windows, ovens, or air conditioners. Moving heat sources and strong air currents can cause false alarms.
  • Battery Safety: The sensor operates with a CR2032 battery. Ensure correct polarity when inserting the battery. Replace batteries only with the specified type. Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
  • Power Supply: The device can also be powered by a DC5V power supply. Use only compatible and certified power adapters.

4. Setup

4.1. Installation and Placement

Proper placement is crucial for optimal performance and to minimize false alarms.

  1. Mounting: Use the provided installation stent to securely mount the sensor on a wall or in a corner. Ensure it is positioned to cover the desired detection area.
  2. Detection Range: The sensor detects motion up to approximately 6-8 meters.
  3. Detection Angle: It offers a detection angle of 110 degrees horizontally and 60 degrees vertically.
  4. Optimal Height: Install the sensor at a height that allows for clear line-of-sight within the detection area, typically between 1.8 to 2.2 meters (6 to 7.2 feet) from the floor.
  5. Avoid Obstructions: Ensure no large furniture, curtains, or other objects block the sensor's field of view.
  6. Environmental Considerations: As mentioned in safety, avoid placing near windows, heating vents, air conditioners, or direct sunlight, which can cause temperature fluctuations and false triggers.

4.2. Pairing with the Alarm System

To integrate the motion sensor with your KERUI alarm system, follow these steps. This process typically involves pairing the alarm panel with a smartphone app (e.g., Tuya Smart) and then adding accessories like remote controls and detectors.

  1. Connect Alarm Panel to Wi-Fi (if applicable):
    a. On the alarm panel, navigate to 'WiFi Settings'.
    b. Open your smartphone app (e.g., Tuya Smart) and select 'Add Device'.
    c. Choose 'Alarm' then 'Alarm (Wi-Fi)'.
    d. Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network password.
    e. Follow the app's instructions to reset the alarm panel (usually by long-pressing a reset button) and complete the Wi-Fi connection.
  2. Add Remote Controls:
    a. On the alarm panel, go to 'Add Accessories' and select 'Add Remote Control'.
    b. The panel will prompt you to press any button on the remote control.
    c. Press a button on your remote control. The panel will confirm successful pairing.
  3. Add Motion Detector (PIR Sensor):
    a. On the alarm panel, go to 'Add Accessories' and select 'Add Detector'.
    b. The panel will prompt you to trigger the detector.
    c. Activate the motion sensor (e.g., by waving your hand in front of it). The panel will confirm successful pairing.

5. Operating the Motion Sensor

Once paired with your KERUI alarm system, the motion sensor operates in conjunction with the system's arming and disarming states.

  • Arming the System: When the alarm system is armed (e.g., 'Home Arm' or 'Full Arm' mode), the motion sensor becomes active. If it detects movement, it will trigger the alarm. You can arm the system via the alarm panel, remote control, or the smartphone app.
  • Disarming the System: When the alarm system is disarmed, the motion sensor will not trigger an alarm, allowing you to move freely within the protected area. Disarm the system via the alarm panel, remote control, or the smartphone app.
  • SOS Function: In an emergency, you can activate the SOS function via your alarm system's remote control or smartphone app. This will immediately trigger the alarm and notify pre-set contacts.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Battery Replacement

The motion sensor is powered by a CR2032 battery. When the battery is low, the alarm system may indicate a low battery warning for the sensor. To replace the battery:

  1. Carefully open the sensor casing.
  2. Remove the old CR2032 battery.
  3. Insert a new CR2032 battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the sensor casing securely.

6.2. Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, periodically clean the sensor:

  • Gently wipe the detection window with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the sensor.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
False alarmsSensor facing heat sources (windows, ovens, AC units), direct sunlight, or strong air currents.Relocate the sensor away from heat sources and areas with significant temperature changes or drafts. Ensure it's not in direct sunlight.
Sensor not detecting motionLow battery, sensor not properly paired, obstructed view, or incorrect placement.Check and replace the battery. Re-pair the sensor with the alarm system. Ensure no objects block the detection window. Verify placement covers the intended area.
