1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the MOES Tuya ZigBee Smart Door Lock. It covers installation, operation, and advanced features, ensuring you can fully utilize its capabilities. This smart lock offers multiple unlocking methods including fingerprint, password, IC card, mechanical key, and remote control via the Tuya App, with support for Alexa voice commands.

2. Safety Warnings and Precautions

Please read and follow all instructions carefully to prevent injury or damage to the lock.

2.1. Common Usage

  • This lock is designed for indoor use and should only be used as described in this manual.
  • Ensure all parts are present before installation. Contact customer service if any parts are missing.
  • A protective film is present on the front touch screen; remove it if scratched.
  • Use 4 AA alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types.
  • Before installation, ensure door surfaces are flat and free of defects like gaps or warping, as this can affect lock functionality.
  • Do not apply detergents directly to the lock. Use only clean water or a mild cleaner with a soft cloth for cleaning.
  • The lock works without the app, but full smart functionality requires the Tuya APP.

2.2. Electronic Switch Button Setting

By default, the administrator password is 123456. This must be changed to enable network settings. The electronic lock button is unlocked in the factory state.

  • ON/OFF (Administrator only): Press once to lock. Voice broadcast: "The door was locked."
  • ON/OFF (Administrators and common users): Press again to unlock. Voice broadcast: "The lock is off."

Note: Press the electronic lock switch once to unlock, and press it again to close.

5. Installation Guide

Please ensure your door thickness is between 35-60mm. Refer to the diagrams for proper installation.

5.1. Door Opening Direction Selection

Determine your door's opening direction (Right handle opening: Right inwards, Right outwards; Left handle opening: Left inwards, Left outwards) to correctly adjust the handle orientation.

5.2. Adjust Right Handle and Left Handle

5.2.1. Adjust the front panel handles left or right

  1. Remove the reversing screws on the front panel using a screwdriver.
  2. Turn the handle 180°.
  3. Turn your hand to the left.
  4. Reinstall the reversing screws and tighten them.

Important: Do not remove the screws in the handle hole.

5.2.2. Adjust the back panel handles left or right

  1. Insert a screwdriver into the handle hole and unscrew the screw.
  2. Pull out the handle and turn it 180°.
  3. Turn the handle to the left and attach the handle shaft.
  4. Reinstall the screw and tighten it.

Note: Remember to check and install a spring in the handle hole.

5.3. Mortise Lock Installation

The mortise lock supports various types of lock bodies. Ensure you select the correct one for your door.

5.3.1. Double Deadbolt Mortise Lock Internal and External Conversion

To reverse the latch paddle:

  1. Pull the latch pick to the other end.
  2. Push the latch into the lock body and turn it 180°.

Caution: It is forbidden to remove and assemble the side slats of the mortise lock without permission.

5.4. General Installation Steps

  1. Install the mortise lock.
  2. Install the front panel.
  3. Install the back panel.
  4. Install 4 AA batteries.
  5. Install the strike plate and strike box (for wood doors only).

6. Smart Lock Operation

6.1. Initialization Settings

Before using the lock, you must register a new administrator. If not, you cannot configure a Wi-Fi-enabled lock.

  1. Hold down the reset button on the back panel for 5 seconds.
  2. The lock will be initialized.

6.2. Menu Structure

To enter the settings menu, enter *#.

6.3. Add Administrator Password

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter a 4-8 digit new password, then press # to confirm.
  4. Enter the same password again, then press # to confirm.
  5. Successful setting.

6.4. Delete Administrator Password

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter the administrator password.
  4. Press 1 to select "Administrator Setting".
  5. Press 2 to select "Delete Administrator".
  6. Enter the administrator number to delete (e.g., 003), then press # to confirm.
  7. Successful deletion.

6.5. Add User Password

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter the administrator password.
  4. Press 2 to select "User Setting".
  5. Press 1 to select "Add User".
  6. Enter a 4-8 digit password, then press # to confirm.
  7. Enter the same password again.
  8. Successful setting.

6.6. Delete User Password

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter the administrator password.
  4. Press 2 to select "User Setting".
  5. Press 2 to select "Delete User".
  6. Press 1 to delete a specific user, or 2 to delete all users.
  7. If deleting a specific user, enter the user number (e.g., 003), then press # to confirm.
  8. Successful deletion.

6.7. Add User IC Card

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter the administrator password.
  4. Press 2 to select "User Setting".
  5. Press 1 to select "Add User".
  6. Touch the IC card to the sensing area.
  7. Successful setting.

6.8. Delete User IC Card

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter the administrator password.
  4. Press 2 to select "User Setting".
  5. Press 2 to select "Delete User".
  6. Press 1 to delete a specific user, or 2 to delete all users.
  7. If deleting a specific user, enter the user number (e.g., 003), then press # to confirm.
  8. Successful deletion.

6.9. Add User Fingerprint Information

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter the administrator password.
  4. Press 2 to select "User Setting".
  5. Press 1 to select "Add User".
  6. Enter the fingerprint in the sensor area 4 times.
  7. Successful setting.

6.10. Delete User Fingerprint

  1. Enter *#.
  2. Enter administrator information.
  3. Enter the administrator password.
  4. Press 2 to select "User Setting".
  5. Press 2 to select "Delete User".
  6. Press 1 to delete a specific user, or 2 to delete all users.
  7. If deleting a specific user, enter the user number (e.g., 003), then press # to confirm.
  8. Successful deletion.

6.11. System Settings

To access system settings, enter *#, then administrator information and password, then press 3.

  • 1. Volume setting: Press 1 to turn on or off the prompt tone.
  • 2. Unlock mode setting: Press 2 to unlock with a single key or a combination key.
  • 3. Language setting: Press 3 to select English or Chinese.
  • 4. Time setting: Press 4 to change the lock time.

6.12. Restore Factory Settings

To restore the lock to factory settings, enter *#, then administrator information and password, then press 4.

7. App Configuration and Smart Features

The smart lock integrates with the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app for enhanced control and monitoring. A Zigbee gateway is required for app and voice control.

7.1. Download and Register Tuya APP

  1. Download the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app from your mobile app store (Apple Store or Google Play). You can also scan the QR code provided in the manual (page 8) to download.
  2. Register an account using your email or mobile phone number.

7.2. Zigbee Configuration (Optional Tuya Zigbee)

  1. Add an administrator (if not already done).
  2. Download and install the "Smart Life" app.
  3. Register and log in.
  4. Add a gateway according to its instructions.
  5. In the "Smart Life" interface, find "Door lock Zigbee" under security sensors, and complete device addition as prompted. (You can also add the door lock as a child device under the gateway interface).
  6. Add a network:
    • Press * + # to verify administrator, then 1 for administrator settings, then 3 to configure the network.
    • Voice announcement: "Operation succeeded" for successful addition; "Add failed" after timeout.
  7. Remote unlocking: Enter the correct password on the door lock interface to confirm.

7.3. Network Settings (App)

There are two main connection modes: Hotspot Connection (AP mode) and Intelligent Connection (EZ mode).

7.3.1. Intelligent Connection (EZ Mode)

  1. Open the Tuya Smart APP and select "WiFi lock" under "Security and Sensors".
  2. Ensure the privacy button is unlocked.
  3. Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  4. Reset the device and confirm the indicator is blinking rapidly.
  5. Follow the app prompts to complete pairing.

7.3.2. Hotspot Connection (AP Mode)

  1. Open the Tuya Smart APP and select "WiFi lock" under "Security and Sensors".
  2. Ensure the privacy button is unlocked.
  3. Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  4. In the upper right corner of the app, select "AP Mode".
  5. Reset the device and confirm the indicator is blinking slowly.
  6. Connect your mobile phone to the device's hotspot (e.g., "SmartLife-XXXX").
  7. Return to the app to complete device addition.

7.4. BLE Quick Connection

This is an additional BLE connection method, performed in AP or EZ mode (5 blinking). A window will pop up in the app:

  1. The app will display a window for adding a device.
  2. Enter the Wi-Fi password and click Next.
  3. Place your phone near your router and the lock to establish the connection.

7.5. Remote Unlock Function

When visitors press 9 and # in sequence on the lock, a remote unlock request is sent to the administrator's app. You can approve or reject the unlock request via "agree to unlock" or "refuse to unlock" options in the app.

8. Key Features

8.1. Multiple Unlocking Methods

The smart door lock offers versatile access options:

  • Fingerprint: Store up to 250 fingerprints with 99% accuracy for quick and secure access.
  • Password: Use a numerical password for entry.
  • APP: Remotely unlock and manage the lock via the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
  • Mechanical Key: Traditional key access is available as a backup.
  • IC Card: Use a keycard for convenient entry.

8.2. Temporary and Dynamic Passwords

Generate temporary or dynamic passwords for visitors. These passwords expire after a set period, enhancing security and privacy.

8.3. Tamper Alarm

For enhanced security, the lock features a tamper alarm. If illegal intruders attempt to break the lock, an alarm will sound to alert you and your family.

8.4. Double Lock for Enhanced Security

Utilize the double lock button inside the door for an additional layer of security, providing peace of mind, especially at night.

8.5. Anti-Hijacking Alarm

In situations where personal safety is threatened at the door, you can enter a specified anti-hijacking password or fingerprint. This sends an alarm notification to the MOES App, alerting your family.

8.6. History Records

The MOES App displays a history of open/close records, multiple failed fingerprint/password attempts, and low-power alarms, allowing real-time monitoring of your home's security.

8.7. Voice Command Unlock (Alexa)

Control the door lock with voice commands through Amazon Alexa. For added security, you can set a voice PIN that must be spoken before unlocking or locking the door.

Note: This Zigbee door lock supports Alexa but not Google Home.

8.8. Gesture Password Settings

Set a gesture password in the app to protect access to the door lock control interface, adding an extra layer of security.

8.9. Smart Scene Linkage

Integrate your smart lock with other smart home devices to create automated scenes, such as adjusting lighting when the door is unlocked.

9. Maintenance

9.1. Battery Replacement

The lock is powered by 4 AA alkaline batteries, providing 10-12 months of life with 10 unlocks per day. When the voltage drops below 4.8V, the lock will automatically alarm each time it's opened. Replace batteries promptly.

Note: AA batteries are not included in the package. Please dispose of used batteries responsibly at a recycling station.

9.2. Emergency Power and Mechanical Key

If the batteries run out, you can temporarily charge the lock via the Type-C port or use the provided mechanical keys for access.

9.3. Cleaning

Do not apply any detergent directly to the lock. When cleaning, use only clean water or a mild cleaner with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.

10. Troubleshooting

  • Lock not responding after multiple incorrect attempts: If 5 incorrect unlock attempts are made, the keyboard will lock for 30 seconds. Wait for the lockout period to end.
  • Cannot configure Wi-Fi: Ensure the privacy button is unlocked. If it is locked, Wi-Fi connection cannot be configured.
  • Lock not connecting to app: Verify that a Zigbee gateway is installed and properly configured. Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz.
  • Handle direction is incorrect: Refer to Section 5.2 "Adjust Right Handle and Left Handle" to correct the handle orientation.
  • Forgotten administrator password: Restore the lock to factory settings (Section 6.12). The initial management password will be 123456.

11. User Tips

  • Zigbee2MQTT Compatibility: While the product description mentions Zigbee connectivity, some users inquire about Zigbee2MQTT compatibility. It's recommended to check the latest device compatibility lists for Zigbee2MQTT or Home Assistant for specific integration details.
  • Voice PIN for Alexa: For enhanced security when using Alexa voice commands, always set up and use a voice PIN. This prevents unauthorized voice access.
  • Door Handing: Pay close attention to the door opening direction and handle adjustment during installation to ensure correct operation.

12. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is this smart lock compatible with Home Assistant?
A: The product uses Zigbee connectivity and works with Alexa. For specific Home Assistant compatibility, please refer to the latest Home Assistant documentation or community forums for Zigbee device integrations.
Q: Is this lock Zigbee2MQTT compatible?
A: The lock uses Zigbee 3.0. While many Zigbee devices are compatible with Zigbee2MQTT, it's best to check the official Zigbee2MQTT device compatibility list for the specific model to confirm full functionality.
Q: Can the direction of the handle be changed?
