EZAIOT TRV Adapters

Radiator Valve Adapters User Manual

Model: TRV Adapters | Brand: EZAIOT

1. Introduction

These Radiator Valve Adapters are designed to ensure compatibility between your smart thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) and a wide range of existing radiator valve bodies. They facilitate the installation of smart TRVs, such as the EZAIOT Tuya Zigbee WiFi TRV models (TRV602, TRV604, TRV601, TRV603), onto various radiator valve types, enabling smart heating control in your home.

2. Package Contents

The package includes a set of adapters necessary for installation. Please verify that all components are present:

  • 1 set of TRV Adapters (typically includes 6 different adapter types)
  • 1 Screw
  • 1 Nut

4. Compatibility

These adapters are designed for broad compatibility, covering approximately 97% of radiator valves on the market. They are specifically designed for use with:

  • Danfoss RA valves
  • Danfoss RAV valves
  • Danfoss RAVL valves
  • Caleffi valves
  • Giacomini valves
  • M28 valves

Note: If your radiator valve thread is M30 x 1.5mm, you may be able to install your TRV directly without needing any adapters. Please consult your TRV's manual for direct installation instructions.

General Installation Steps:

  1. Identify Your Valve Type: Determine the type of radiator valve you have (e.g., Danfoss RA, RAV, RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini, M28).
  2. Select the Correct Adapter: Choose the corresponding adapter from the provided set.
  3. Prepare the Adapter: For some adapters, you may need to take out specific accessories or separate an extending rod.
  4. Install the Adapter onto the Valve: Carefully place the adapter onto the radiator valve. Ensure it fits securely, noting any snap grooves or alignment features.
  5. Secure the Adapter (if applicable): If the adapter requires a screw and nut, tighten them to secure the adapter. If an extending rod is used, plug it into place.
  6. Install the TRV: Once the adapter is securely in place, install your smart TRV onto the adapter according to your TRV's specific instructions.

Specific Installation Notes:

  • Danfoss RA valves: Use the designated RA adapter.
  • Danfoss RAV valves: Use the designated RAV adapter. This adapter may require an H13mm component.
  • Danfoss RAVL valves: Use the designated RAVL adapter. This adapter may require an H4.8mm component.
  • Caleffi valves: Use the designated Caleffi adapter.
  • Giacomini valves: Use the designated Giacomini adapter. This adapter may require an H8.6mm component.
  • M28 valves: Use the designated M28 adapter. This adapter may require an H11mm component.

Important Note: If an adapter does not have extending rods or screw holes, there is no need to install additional rods or screws for that specific adapter type.

6. Operating Instructions

These adapters are passive components that enable the physical connection between your smart TRV and the radiator valve. They do not have electronic or mechanical operating functions themselves. Once correctly installed, the adapters allow your smart TRV to control the radiator's heat output. Refer to your specific smart TRV's user manual for operating instructions, including pairing with a smart home system, setting schedules, and temperature control.

7. Maintenance

The adapters require minimal maintenance. Periodically check the following:

  • Cleanliness: Wipe the adapters with a dry, soft cloth if they accumulate dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Secure Fit: Ensure the adapter remains securely attached to the radiator valve and that the TRV is firmly mounted onto the adapter. A loose connection can affect the TRV's performance.
  • Damage: Inspect for any signs of physical damage or wear. If an adapter is damaged, replace it to ensure proper function and prevent leaks.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues related to the adapters, consider the following:

  • TRV Not Fitting Securely: Double-check that you have selected the correct adapter for your specific radiator valve type. Refer to Section 5 and Figure 5.1. Ensure the adapter is fully seated and any securing screws/nuts are tightened appropriately.
  • Adapter Feels Loose: If the adapter feels loose after installation, remove it and re-install, ensuring all steps are followed carefully. Verify that no debris is preventing a snug fit.
  • TRV Not Functioning Correctly (after adapter installation): While the adapters themselves do not affect TRV functionality directly, a poor physical connection can. Ensure the TRV is correctly mounted onto the adapter and that the adapter is firmly attached to the radiator valve. If the issue persists, consult your TRV's user manual for troubleshooting its electronic functions.
