5.2 SSD Installation Steps (Tool-Free)

  1. Prepare your M.2 NVMe SSD: Ensure your SSD is compatible with the adapter (M-key NVMe, no heatsink, supported size).
  2. Insert the SSD: Gently slide your M.2 NVMe SSD into the adapter's slot. The semi-open design allows for easy insertion. Push until it is fully seated. No tools are required for this step.
  3. New SSD Partitioning (if applicable): If you are using a brand new, unused SSD, it will need to be initialized and partitioned before it can be recognized by your operating system. This process is typically done through your computer's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac OS).

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the adapter. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the adapter in a cool, dry place. Its small and portable design makes it convenient to carry around, ideally in a protective pouch or case to prevent physical damage.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the adapter to strong impacts.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 SSD Not Recognized

  • Check SSD Seating: Ensure the M.2 NVMe SSD is fully and correctly inserted into the adapter's slot.
  • New SSD Partitioning: If it's a new SSD, it must be initialized and partitioned through your operating system's disk management tools (e.g., Disk Management in Windows, Disk Utility in Mac OS) before it can be used.
  • Protocol Compatibility: Verify that your SSD is an M-key NVMe SSD. This adapter does not support SATA M.2 SSDs.
  • Device Compatibility: Ensure your computer or mobile device supports the adapter. For mobile phones, confirm OTG functionality is enabled.
  • Try Another Port/Device: Test the adapter with a different USB-C port or another compatible device to rule out port or device issues.

8.2 Slow Data Transfer Speed

  • USB Port Type: Ensure the adapter is connected to a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) compatible port on your host device for optimal performance. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port will result in significantly lower speeds (up to 480Mbps).
  • SSD Performance: The actual transfer speed is also limited by the performance of your M.2 NVMe SSD.
  • System Load: High CPU usage or other background processes on your computer can affect transfer speeds.

9. User Tips

  • Always safely eject the drive from your operating system before physically disconnecting the adapter to prevent data corruption.
  • For maximum portability and protection, consider storing the adapter in a small, dedicated case when traveling.
  • If using with a mobile phone, ensure the phone's settings have OTG (USB On-The-Go) enabled if it's not automatically detected.

This product comes with a 1-year warranty from the store. For any inquiries or support needs, please contact the seller directly. All emails will be answered within 24 hours.
