1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1 Radio Parts and Controls

  1. Antenna: Transmits and receives radio signals. Replaceable.
  2. On-Off Key: Powers the radio on or off.
  3. LED Indicator: Shows radio status (e.g., transmitting, receiving, charging).
  4. OLED Screen: Displays battery level, frequency, status, channel, and more.
  5. OK/Menu Key: Confirms selections or accesses the menu.
  6. Navigation Key: Programmable for navigating menus or changing settings.
  7. Back/Channel Key: Programmable for returning to previous menu or changing channels.
  8. 360° Multifunctional Knob: Used to change channels, switch menu items, edit numbers, and more.
  9. Strap Hole: For attaching a wrist strap.
  10. Belt Clip: For attaching the radio to a belt.
  11. PTT Key (Push-to-Talk): Press and hold to transmit, release to receive.
  12. Audio Jack (3.5 mm): For connecting an earpiece or external audio accessory.
  13. Volume Key: Adjusts the speaker volume.
  14. Battery: Provides power to the radio.

3.2 Installing the Battery

The S1 Pro uses a replaceable 2200mAh battery. To install:

  1. Align the battery with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
  2. Gently push the battery into place until it clicks securely.

3.3 Installing the Antenna

The S1 Pro comes with a stubby antenna (400-440MHz). To install:

  1. Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

3.4 Charging the Battery

Before initial use, fully charge the battery. The S1 Pro supports USB Type-C charging.

  1. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the radio's charging port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB power adapter (e.g., the EU Power adapter if included in your package) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The LED indicator will show the charging status. A full charge can take several hours.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the On-Off Key until the radio powers on or off.

4.2 Adjusting Volume

Use the Volume Key to increase or decrease the audio output level.

4.3 Selecting Channels

Rotate the 360° Multifunctional Knob to cycle through available channels. The selected channel will be displayed on the OLED screen.

4.4 Transmitting and Receiving

  1. To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) Key. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  2. Release the PTT Key to receive.

4.5 OLED Display Information

The HD OLED display provides real-time information including:

  • Battery level
  • Current frequency
  • Radio status (e.g., transmitting, receiving)
  • Current channel number and name
  • Zone information

4.6 AI-Based Noise Cancellation

The S1 Pro features AI-based noise cancellation, filtering out up to 30 dB of ambient noise for clearer communication. This feature is automatically active to enhance audio quality.

4.7 Whisper Mode

Activate Whisper Mode to speak softly while still being heard clearly by the recipient. This is useful for maintaining privacy or avoiding disturbance in quiet environments.

4.8 Privacy Protection (Password)

The S1 Pro supports password protection for group calls. Only radios with the correct password can join a specific group call, preventing unauthorized listening and interference from other groups.

4.9 Programming and Configuration

The S1 Pro can be programmed and configured using the Hytera Radio App via Bluetooth.

  1. Hytera Radio App: Download the official Hytera Radio App to your Android phone. Connect your radio via Bluetooth to manage settings, perform batch configurations, and back up frequency information.
  2. AirClone: This feature allows you to quickly clone configuration data from one S1 Pro radio to multiple others, simplifying deployment for teams.

4.10 NVOC Version Compatibility

Important: The NVOC version of the Hytera S1 Pro can only be connected to other Hytera S1 or S1 Pro radios. It is not compatible with standard DMR radios from other manufacturers in the market due to different vocoder technology.

5. Maintenance

5.1 General Care

  • Keep the radio dry. If it gets wet, wipe it immediately.
  • Clean the radio's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure the antenna and battery contacts are clean and free of debris.

5.2 Battery Care

  • To maximize battery life, avoid overcharging or completely draining the battery frequently.
  • Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • If the battery is not used for an extended period, charge it to about 50% before storing.

5.3 Water and Dust Resistance

The Hytera S1 Pro is rated IP55 for water and dust resistance. This means it is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. While robust, it is not designed for submersion in water.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Hytera S1 Pro, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
