6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your AWESAFE Android 13 Car Radio, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and exterior surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for and install software updates to ensure the system runs efficiently and securely.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or excessive moisture.
  • Cable Connections: Periodically check all cable connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your car radio.

7.1 Steering Wheel Control Not Working

If your steering wheel controls are not functioning:

  • Check Canbus: Confirm if your product includes a Canbus.
  • No Canbus (V1/V1.C/V1 Pro/V1 Pro.C): Navigate to Car Settings > General > SWC Type > Learning Type to configure.
  • No Canbus (V1 Plus): Navigate to Settings > Car information > SWC > Learning Type to configure.
  • With Canbus: Ensure the 8-pin interface of the CANbus cable is correctly connected. Then, select the appropriate CANbus type in the settings. If you are unsure of the CANbus model, contact customer service.

7.2 Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto Connection Issues

To connect Wireless CarPlay or Android Auto:

  1. For the initial connection, enable your phone's Bluetooth and pair it with the car's Bluetooth.
  2. Once paired, the car radio should automatically switch to the Zlink or AutoLink interface.
  3. Your phone will then prompt you to "use CarPlay with Zlink or AutoLink."
  4. Enable Wi-Fi on your mobile phone, and CarPlay/Android Auto should connect.

7.3 Wired CarPlay and Android Auto Connection Issues

To connect Wired CarPlay or Android Auto:

  • Use your original data cable to connect your phone to the 4-PIN USB cable provided with the unit.
  • Activate the CarPlay/Android Auto function on your phone.
  • On the car radio, select the "AutoLink" or "ZLINK5" icon to establish the connection.

7.4 Changing the Boot Logo

Due to copyright restrictions, the boot logo may not be directly displayed or changed. If you require assistance with modifying the logo, please contact customer service for specific instructions.

8. User Tips

  • External Microphone: The multimedia unit has a built-in microphone. If you prefer to use an external microphone, you can connect it via an RCA cable. Note that the original car's microphone will no longer be available after installation.
  • 4G vs. WiFi Version: For users who frequently use internet features while driving, consider purchasing a 4G-enabled version. Relying solely on your smartphone's hotspot (modem mode) can quickly drain its battery.
  • Steering Wheel Controls: The unit is designed to recover original steering wheel controls, enhancing convenience and safety. Ensure proper wiring and configuration as detailed in the setup section.
