  • Power Button: Turns the device on/off.

  • Measurement Modes: V/DC (DC Voltage), V/AC (AC Voltage), Ω (Resistance), Diode, Continuity, Capacitor. Click the screen to switch between these modes.

4. Setup

4.1. Charging the Device

The MT13S features a built-in lithium battery. Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged. Connect the provided Type-C USB cable to the device's USB port and to a suitable USB power adapter (not included).

4.2. Connecting Test Leads

For multimeter functions, insert the test leads into the appropriate input jacks:

  • Connect the black test lead to the 'COM' (Common) jack.
  • Connect the red test lead to the 'V-Ω-mA' or 'V-Ω-Vout' jack depending on the measurement type.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power Button (refer to Figure 3) to turn the device on or off.

5.2. Multimeter Functions

In multimeter mode, the display shows various measurement options. Use the touch screen or the Multimeter Switch Button to select the desired function:

  • Voltage (V/DC, V/AC): Select DC or AC voltage mode to measure voltage.
  • Resistance (Ω): Measure resistance of components.
  • Capacitance: Measure capacitance of capacitors.
  • Diode Test: Test diodes for forward voltage drop.
  • Continuity Test: Check for circuit continuity with an audible indicator.
  • Frequency/Duty Cycle (Hz/%): Use the dedicated button to measure frequency or duty cycle.

Press the 'Hold/Range' button to freeze the current reading on the display or to switch between auto-ranging and manual ranging modes.

5.3. Thermal Imaging Functions

Press the IR Camera/Multimeter Switch Button to enter thermal imaging mode.

5.3.1. Adjusting IR Camera Settings

The 2.8-inch resistive touch screen allows for easy adjustment of thermal imaging parameters:

  • Color table: Select from various color palettes to visualize temperature differences.
  • IR Unit: Choose between Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).
  • Emissivity: Adjust the emissivity value (0.1 to 0.99, default 0.95) to match the surface being measured for accurate temperature readings.
  • Frame speed: Adjust the image capture frequency.

The MT13S offers five distinct color palettes to enhance thermal image interpretation:

7. Maintenance

7.3. Battery Care

To prolong the life of the built-in lithium battery, avoid fully discharging it frequently. Recharge the device regularly, even if it's not in active use, especially if storing for extended periods.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device does not power on: Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged. Connect the device to a Type-C USB charger and allow it to charge for some time before attempting to power on again.
  • Inaccurate multimeter readings: Verify that the test leads are correctly connected to the appropriate jacks for the measurement type. Ensure the correct measurement mode is selected on the display. Check if the test leads are damaged.
  • Unclear thermal images: Clean the thermal camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth. Ensure the emissivity setting is appropriate for the surface being inspected.
  • Touch screen unresponsive: Try restarting the device. If the issue persists, ensure your fingers are clean and dry when interacting with the resistive touch screen.
  • Device freezes or behaves erratically: Power off the device and restart it. If the problem continues, contact customer support.

9. User Tips

  • Always double-check the selected measurement mode before connecting the test leads to a circuit to prevent damage to the device or the circuit.
  • When using the thermal imager, adjust the emissivity setting to match the material you are inspecting for the most accurate temperature readings. Different materials have different emissivities.
  • For detailed analysis, utilize the Multimeter Data Chart Recording feature to capture and review measurement trends over time.
  • Keep the thermal camera lens free from dust and smudges to ensure clear and accurate thermal images.
