3. Device Layout and Buttons

  • LCD Screen: 2.4-inch TFT 262K true color display for test results.
  • Left/Up Button: Navigates left or scrolls up in menus.
  • I/M Button: Quick access to I/M Readiness function.
  • Enter (OK) Button: Confirms selections.
  • Cable with OBDII connector: Connects the scanner to the vehicle's OBDII port.
  • Read DTC Button: Initiates reading of Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your AUTOPHIX OM126P scanner:

  1. Locate the OBDII Port: The OBDII port is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual if you cannot find it.
  2. Connect the Scanner: Plug the OBDII connector cable from the OM126P into your vehicle's OBDII port.
  3. Power On: The scanner will automatically power on once connected to the vehicle's OBDII port. The vehicle's battery provides the necessary power (8.0 to 18.0 V).
  4. Language Selection: Upon first use, or after a reset, you may be prompted to select your preferred language. Use the navigation buttons to select from English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Italian, Finnish, Portuguese, Polish, or Dutch, then press 'Enter'.

5. Operating Instructions

The OM126P offers a range of diagnostic functions. Navigate through the main menu using the directional buttons and press 'Enter' to select an option.

5.1 Diagnostic Menu Functions

  • Read Codes: Retrieves Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the vehicle's computer.
  • Erase Codes: Clears DTCs from the vehicle's computer and turns off the Check Engine Light (MIL).
  • I/M Readiness: Checks the status of emission-related monitoring systems to determine if the vehicle is ready for an emissions test.
  • Data Stream: Displays real-time data parameters from the vehicle's sensors in numerical or graphical format.
  • Freeze Frame: Shows a snapshot of operating conditions at the moment an emission-related fault occurred.
  • O2 Sensor Test: Monitors and adjusts the air/fuel mixture.
  • On-Board Monitor Test: Reads results of on-board diagnostic monitoring tests for specific components/systems.
  • EVAP System Test: Initiates a leak test for the vehicle's Evaporative Emission Control System.
  • Vehicle Info: Displays vehicle information such as VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), CID (Calibration ID), and CVN (Calibration Verification Number).
  • Review the recorded DTC: Allows you to view previously recorded DTCs.

5.2 Using Specific Functions

  1. Reading and Clearing DTCs:
    From the main menu, select 'Read Codes' to view current, pending, and manufacturer-specific codes. To clear codes, select 'Erase Codes'. Confirm the action when prompted.
  2. I/M Readiness Check:
    Press the dedicated 'I/M' hotkey or select 'I/M Readiness' from the menu. The scanner will display the status of various monitors (e.g., Misfire, Fuel System, O2 Sensor) as 'OK', 'INC' (Incomplete), or 'N/A' (Not Applicable).
  3. Viewing Live Data Stream:
    Select 'Data Stream' from the menu. You can choose specific parameters to view in real-time, either numerically or graphically. This helps in analyzing vehicle performance and identifying anomalies.

  4. DTC Lookup:
    If you encounter a DTC, use the 'DTC Lookup' function to find its definition and understand the potential issue.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Software Updates

The AUTOPHIX OM126P offers lifetime free online software upgrades to ensure compatibility with newer vehicles and updated diagnostic protocols.

  1. System Requirements: The update software supports Windows 7/8/10. For Windows 7, you may need to install a driver. Other Windows systems can run the update software directly.
  2. Connect to PC: Use the provided USB cable to connect the OM126P to your computer.
  3. Run Update Tool: Open the update tool software on your computer and follow the on-screen instructions to load the OM126P software onto the device.

6.2 Cleaning

Clean the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the OBDII connector free from dirt and debris.

7. Troubleshooting and Compatibility

7.1 General Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the OBDII connector is securely plugged into the vehicle's port. Check the vehicle's battery voltage (must be between 8.0 to 18.0 V).
  • Communication error: Verify the vehicle is OBDII compliant (generally 1996 and newer for US, 2002 for Europe, 2005 for Asia). Ensure the ignition is in the 'ON' position.
  • Screen issues: The 2.4" TFT 262K true color LCD display is designed for clarity. If the screen is unreadable in bright sunlight, try adjusting your viewing angle or moving to a shaded area.

7.2 Vehicle Compatibility Notes

The OM126P is compatible with most OBDII compliant vehicles after 1996 (USA), 2002 (Europe), and 2005 (Asia). However, some specific models may not be supported due to regional variations or unique vehicle designs.

    • Trucks.
    • Ssangyong Actyon (2009-2017), Korando 2.0 TD Diesel (2013-2017), Kyron 2.0 Diesel (2010-2017), Rexton (2011-2017).
    • Opel Corsa C 2004 1.3 CDTI.
    • VW Golf 4 2002.
    • Renault Clio 2/Megane/Dacia Logan.

This device only provides OBD2 functions and does not include special functions like ABS Reset or Airbag Reset.
