1. Introduction

5. Setup Instructions

5.1 Power Supply Connection

Connect a DC power supply within the range of 19V to 52V to the designated power input terminals on the board. Observe correct polarity (positive and negative). The terminals are typically labeled 'DC 19V-50V' or similar.

5.2 Audio Input Connection

Connect your audio source (e.g., DAC, preamplifier) to the 2 VRMS analog input interface. The input terminals are typically labeled 'INPUT L', 'G' (Ground), and 'R'. Use appropriate shielded audio cables to minimize noise.

5.3 Speaker Output Connection

Connect your passive speakers to the output terminals. Ensure correct polarity for each channel (Left+ L-, Right+ R-). The board supports speaker impedances of 2, 4, or 8 ohms. Verify your speakers' impedance matches the amplifier's capabilities.

6. Operating Instructions

Once all connections are made, you can begin operating the amplifier board:

  1. Power On: Connect the power supply to a wall outlet. The amplifier board should power on, indicated by any onboard LEDs (if present).
  2. Audio Playback: Start playing audio from your connected source.
  3. Volume Control: Adjust the volume using your audio source or any external preamplifier connected to the input. This amplifier board does not have onboard volume control.
  4. Power Off: Disconnect the power supply from the wall outlet to power off the amplifier board.

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your amplifier board, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep Clean: Regularly clean the board with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquids or abrasive cleaners.
  • Avoid Moisture: Keep the amplifier board away from water, humidity, and other liquids.
  • Prevent Static Discharge: Handle the board with care, especially when installing or removing, to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) which can damage components.
  • Ensure Ventilation: The heatsink is crucial for dissipating heat. Ensure it is not obstructed and that there is adequate airflow around the board, especially during prolonged operation at high power.

8.1 No Sound Output

  • Check Power: Ensure the power supply is correctly connected and providing the specified voltage (19V-52V DC).
  • Check Audio Input: Verify that the audio source is connected correctly to the input terminals and is playing audio.
  • Check Speaker Connections: Ensure speakers are properly connected to the output terminals with correct polarity.
  • Volume Level: Confirm that the volume on your audio source or preamplifier is not set to minimum or muted.

8.2 Distorted Sound

  • Input Level: Reduce the input signal level from your audio source. An excessively high input signal can cause distortion.
  • Power Supply: Ensure the power supply is stable and can provide sufficient current for the desired output level. Fluctuations or insufficient current can lead to distortion.
  • Speaker Impedance: Verify that your speakers' impedance is compatible with the amplifier (2, 4, or 8 ohms).

8.3 Low Output Power

  • Power Supply Voltage: As noted in the specifications, lower input voltage will result in reduced output power. Ensure your power supply is providing adequate voltage, ideally closer to the upper limit (52V) for maximum output.
  • Speaker Impedance: Lower impedance speakers (e.g., 2 ohms) will draw more current and allow for higher power output compared to higher impedance speakers (e.g., 8 ohms) at the same voltage.

9. User Tips

  • Power Supply Selection: For optimal performance and to achieve the advertised maximum output power, it is highly recommended to use a robust power supply capable of delivering up to 52V DC with sufficient current capacity (e.g., 20A or more). This will allow the amplifier to operate at its full potential.
  • Heat Management: While the board includes a heatsink, consider additional cooling solutions (e.g., a small fan) if operating at very high power levels for extended periods, especially if enclosed in a case.
