UT701 Temperature Calibrator:

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the calibrator is powered off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the rear panel of the device (refer to Figure 4).
  3. Open the battery compartment cover.
  4. Insert a 9V (6F22) battery, observing the correct polarity.
  5. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

WARNING: To avoid electrical shock, remove test leads before opening the case. Install battery and quick-acting fuses with the correct voltage ratings as shown in the operating manual.

4.2 Connecting Test Leads

Connect the provided test leads to the appropriate input/output terminals on the calibrator's front panel based on the measurement or source function you intend to use. Refer to Figure 2 for UT701 terminals and Figure 3 for UT705 terminals.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the power button (usually marked with a 'circle with a line' symbol) to turn the calibrator ON or OFF.

5.2 UT701 Temperature Calibrator Operation

  • Selecting Output Type: Use the dedicated buttons (e.g., V/I/Q, RTD, TC) to select the desired output type (voltage, resistance, RTD, or thermocouple).
  • Thermocouple/RTD Type Selection: When TC or RTD is selected, use the SETUP button to cycle through different thermocouple types (J/K/T/E/R/S/B/N/Wre) or RTD types.
  • Setting Output Value: Use the navigation buttons (up/down/left/right arrows) and percentage buttons (0%, 25%, 100%) to adjust the output value.
  • Cold Junction Compensation: The UT701 features automatic and manual cold junction compensation for thermocouple outputs. Refer to the full manual for manual compensation procedures.
  • Automatic Stepping and Ramping: Utilize the automatic stepping and ramping functions for efficient linearity testing. Consult the manual for configuration details.

5.3 UT705 Loop Calibrator Operation

  • Measurement Functions: Use the MEAS/SOURCE button to switch between measurement and source modes. In measurement mode, you can measure DC voltage, DC current, and 4-20mA loop current.
  • Source Functions: In source mode, you can output DC current, simulate a transmitter, or provide 24V loop power.
  • Setting Output Value: Use the navigation buttons and percentage buttons (0%, 25%, 100%) to adjust the output value for current or voltage sourcing.
  • Stepping and Ramping: The UT705 supports manual and automatic stepping and ramping outputs for various calibration tasks.
  • 24V Loop Power: Connect to the 24V and COM terminals to provide loop power for external devices.

5.4 Store/Recall Setups

Both models allow you to store and recall frequently used setups. Refer to the included manual for specific instructions on how to save and load configurations.
