Setup

1. Attaching the Reel to Your Rod:

The MBLN spinning reel features a durable aluminum alloy foot designed for a secure fit. Slide the reel foot into the reel seat on your fishing rod and tighten the locking mechanism until the reel is firmly in place. Ensure there is no wobble.

2. Attaching the Handle:

The reel handle is ambidextrous and can be installed for either left-hand or right-hand retrieve. Simply insert the handle shaft into the appropriate side of the reel body and tighten the screw or cap to secure it. To change sides, remove the handle, insert it into the opposite side, and secure it.

3. Spooling Fishing Line:

The aluminum alloy spool features a beveled edge for smooth line release. When spooling new line, ensure it is wound evenly and tightly onto the spool. Avoid overfilling the spool, as this can lead to tangles and casting issues. It is recommended to leave a small gap (approx. 1/8 inch) between the line and the spool lip.

Operating Instructions

1. Understanding Reel Components:

2. Casting:

  1. Open the bail arm.
  2. Hold the line against the rod with your index finger.
  3. Swing the rod forward, releasing the line with your finger at the appropriate moment.
  4. As the lure or bait hits the water, close the bail arm manually or by turning the handle.

3. Retrieving:

Turn the CNC machined handle to retrieve the line. The balanced rotor and smooth gear system ensure efficient and comfortable retrieval. The line guide will help distribute the line evenly on the spool.

4. Adjusting the Drag:

The reel features a powerful carbon drag system, controlled by the big drag knob located on the front of the spool. Turn the drag knob clockwise to increase drag tension and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Adjust the drag according to the fishing conditions and the strength of your line and target fish. The 7500 series offers a maximum drag capacity of 21KG.

5. Anti-Reverse Switch:

Locate the swift on/off switch (anti-reverse lever) on the reel body. Flipping this switch allows the handle to turn backward (off) or locks it in place for forward rotation only (on). Use the anti-reverse feature to prevent the handle from spinning backward when fighting a fish, providing more direct control.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life and performance of your MBLN fishing reel.

1. Cleaning:

  • After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the reel thoroughly with fresh water. Do not submerge the reel.
  • Wipe down the exterior with a soft cloth to remove any dirt, salt, or debris.
  • Pay attention to the line roller and bail arm, ensuring they are free of grit.

2. Lubrication:

  • Periodically apply a small amount of reel oil to moving parts such as the handle knob, bail arm pivot points, and line roller.
  • Use reel grease on the main gear and pinion gear. Refer to the internal diagram for gear locations.

3. Storage:

  • Store your reel in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Ensure the drag is loosened before storage to prevent compression of the drag washers.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Stiff or Grinding Handle:
Possible Cause: Lack of lubrication or debris in the gears.
Solution: Clean the reel thoroughly and apply appropriate reel oil and grease to the gears and bearings. Refer to the maintenance section.
  • Line Tangles or Poor Casting Distance:
Possible Cause: Overfilled spool, improper line winding, or old/damaged line.
Solution: Re-spool the line, ensuring it is evenly and not excessively wound. Replace old or damaged line. The beveled edge spool is designed for smooth casting, so ensure your line is in good condition.
  • Drag Slipping or Inconsistent:
Possible Cause: Drag washers are dry, worn, or contaminated.
Solution: Disassemble the drag system (if comfortable), clean the washers, and apply a thin layer of drag grease. Replace worn washers if necessary.
  • Handle Feels Loose or Wobbly:
Possible Cause: Handle not fully secured.
Solution: Ensure the handle shaft is fully inserted and the securing screw/cap is tightened.

User Tips

  • Optimize Casting: The aluminum alloy spool's beveled edge is designed for smooth line release. To maximize casting distance and minimize tangles, ensure your line is properly spooled and not overfilled.
  • Handle Comfort: The CNC machined handle and grip are designed for optimal control. Experiment with both left-hand and right-hand retrieve to find what is most comfortable for your fishing style.
  • Saltwater Care: Although the reel is salt spray tested, always rinse it with fresh water after saltwater use to prolong its lifespan and prevent salt buildup.
