5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Use a screwdriver to open the battery cover.
- Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery cover and secure it with the screw.

5.2 Connecting Test Leads
The multimeter comes with a set of test leads and alligator clips. Connect them as follows:
- Insert the red test lead into the 'VΩHz+' input socket.
- Insert the black test lead into the 'COM' input socket.
- For current measurements (mA or A), insert the red test lead into the 'mA' or '10A' input socket respectively, and the black test lead into the 'COM' socket.
- Ensure connections are firm before taking any measurements.

6. Operating Instructions
The ZT100 features an auto-ranging function, simplifying measurements. Always ensure the rotary switch is set to the correct function before connecting to a circuit.
6.1 General Operation
- Power On/Off: Rotate the switch from 'OFF' to any desired measurement function to power on. Rotate back to 'OFF' to power off.
- Auto Power Off: The multimeter will automatically power off after 15 minutes of no operation to conserve battery.
- Backlight: Press the 'HOLD/☀' button briefly to turn the backlight on/off.
- Data Hold: Press and hold the 'HOLD/☀' button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
- Function Selection: For functions with multiple modes (e.g., AC/DC voltage, resistance/continuity/diode), press the 'SELECT/REL' button to cycle through them.
6.2 Specific Measurements
6.2.1 Voltage Measurement (AC/DC)
- Set the rotary switch to 'V~' (AC Voltage) or 'V-' (DC Voltage). If the symbol is combined, use the 'SELECT/REL' button to choose AC or DC.
- Connect the red test lead to the positive side of the circuit and the black test lead to the negative side.
- Read the voltage value on the display.

6.2.2 Current Measurement (AC/DC)
- Set the rotary switch to 'A~' (AC Current) or 'A-' (DC Current) or 'mA~' / 'mA-'. Use 'SELECT/REL' if needed.
- Ensure the red test lead is connected to the appropriate current input socket ('mA' for milliamps, '10A' for amps) and the black lead to 'COM'.
- Open the circuit where current is to be measured and connect the multimeter in series.
- Read the current value on the display.

6.2.3 Resistance Measurement
- Set the rotary switch to 'Ω'.
- Ensure the circuit is de-energized and all capacitors are discharged.
- Connect the test leads across the component to be measured.
- Read the resistance value on the display.

6.2.4 Continuity Test
- Set the rotary switch to 'Ω' and press 'SELECT/REL' until the continuity symbol (a speaker icon) appears.
- Connect the test leads across the component or circuit path.
- If the resistance is below a certain threshold (typically <50Ω), the buzzer will sound, indicating continuity.
6.2.5 Diode Test
- Set the rotary switch to 'Ω' and press 'SELECT/REL' until the diode symbol appears.
- Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
- The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the leads; an open circuit (OL) reading indicates a good diode.

6.2.6 Capacitance Measurement
- Set the rotary switch to '‡'.
- Ensure the capacitor is fully discharged before connecting the test leads.
- Connect the test leads across the capacitor terminals.
- Read the capacitance value on the display.

6.2.7 Frequency Measurement
- Set the rotary switch to 'Hz'.
- Connect the test leads across the signal source.
- Read the frequency value on the display.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the terminals clean to prevent inaccurate readings.
7.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in the 'Setup' section (5.1 Battery Installation).
7.3 Fuse Replacement
If the multimeter fails to measure current, the fuse may be blown. To replace the fuse:
- Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF and all test leads are disconnected.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Carefully remove the old fuse.
- Replace with a new fuse of the specified type and rating (e.g., Fused 10A MAX for 10A range, Fused 400mA MAX for mA range). Refer to the markings near the input sockets for exact fuse specifications.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
8. Troubleshooting
- Display shows 'OL' (Overload): This indicates that the input value exceeds the selected range. The auto-ranging feature should typically handle this, but if it persists, ensure you are not attempting to measure a value far beyond the meter's maximum capacity for that function.
- No display or faint display: Check battery installation and replace batteries if the low battery indicator was present or if the display is dim.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected and not damaged. Verify the correct function is selected. Clean the input terminals.
- Current measurement not working: Check if the fuse for the current range is blown and replace if necessary (refer to 7.3 Fuse Replacement).
9. User Tips
- The BSIDE ZT100 can measure both DC and AC currents, with a maximum range of 10A for both.
- This multimeter does not have the capability to measure inductance.
- Always double-check your connections and rotary switch setting before taking a measurement to prevent damage to the meter or circuit.
- The compact size and lightweight design make it convenient for portability and use in various environments.
10. Warranty and Support
The BSIDE ZT100 Digital Multimeter comes with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects. For technical support, warranty claims, or any inquiries, please contact your retailer or the BSIDE customer service.
