1. Introduction
1.1 Overview
The EPIPDB-COM series is designed to charge two independent battery banks simultaneously. It is ideal for applications such as motorhomes, caravans, and boats, where a starter battery and a leisure battery are used. This controller features no load terminals, focusing solely on efficient dual-battery charging. The charging percentages for each battery can be manually adjusted to suit specific power management needs.

2. Safety Information
WARNING:
Do not install the controller in humid environments, areas with salt spray, corrosion, grease, flammable or explosive materials, or places with excessive dust accumulation. Avoid any other severe environments that could compromise the controller's operation or safety.
CAUTION:
This is a common-negative controller. For common-negative systems (e.g., RV systems), using a common-negative controller is recommended. The controller may be damaged if a common-positive controller is used and the positive electrode is grounded in a common-negative system. Ensure the grounding terminal on the controller shell is properly grounded to shield electromagnetic interference and prevent electric shock.

5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Connection Diagram

Follow the diagram above to connect the components. Ensure correct polarity for all connections.
5.2 Connection Steps
Connect the components in the following order (1-6 as shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3):
- Connect with Battery #1.
- Connect with Battery #2.
- Connect with the PV array (solar panel).
- Connect the remote temperature sensor (if optional sensor is used).
- Connect the remote meter (MT-1) to the remote meter connection port (if optional meter is used).
- Ensure all connections are secure and correct before powering on.
IMPORTANT:
Always connect the batteries first, then the solar panel. Disconnect in reverse order (solar panel first, then batteries).
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Mode Setting
The controller uses three LEDs to indicate different specifications during mode setting. To adjust a setting:
- Observe the three flashing LEDs. Each LED corresponds to a specific setting (Battery Type, Charging Priority, Charging Frequency).
- Press and hold the setting button for 5 seconds until the number corresponding to the desired setting starts flashing.
- Choose the desired number for the setting.
- Release the button. The selected number will be saved automatically.

6.1.1 1st LED: Battery Type Setting
Use the 1st LED to select the battery type:
| Number Shows | Battery Type |
|---|---|
| 1 | Sealed battery |
| 2 | Gel battery |
| 3 | Flooded battery |
6.1.2 2nd LED: Charging Priority Setting
Set the charging percentage for Battery #1. The controller will automatically calculate the remaining percentage for Battery #2.
| Number Shows | Battery #1 Charging Percentage | Battery #2 Charging Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0% | 100% |
| 1 | 10% | 90% |
| 2 | 20% | 80% |
| 3 | 30% | 70% |
| 4 | 40% | 60% |
| 5 | 50% | 50% |
| 6 | 60% | 40% |
| 7 | 70% | 30% |
| 8 | 80% | 20% |
| 9 | 90% (pre-set) | 10% |
Note: During normal charging, the controller charges batteries according to the set percentages. If one battery becomes fully charged (e.g., Battery #1), more charge current will be diverted to the other battery (Battery #2). The controller automatically reverts to the set percentages when Battery #1's voltage drops. If only one battery is detected, all charging current will be directed to that battery.
6.1.3 3rd LED: Charging Frequency Setting
Use the 3rd LED to select the PWM charging frequency:
| Number Shows | PWM Charging Frequency |
|---|---|
| 0 | 25Hz (pre-set) |
| 1 | 50Hz |
| 2 | 100Hz |
6.2 Using the MT-1 Remote Meter (Optional)

The MT-1 remote meter is an optional accessory that connects to the EPIPDB-COM series controller via an RS485 cable. It provides a clear LCD display for monitoring system status and parameters remotely.

The MT-1 display shows various icons and indicators for system status, including battery status, solar input, temperature, and error conditions.
7. Troubleshooting
| No. | LED Status | Troubleshooting |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | LED blinking | Short circuit. Check whether the PV and battery connection is correct. |
| 2 | LED slowly flashing | Fully charged |
| 3 | LED ON | In charging |
| 4 | LED frequent flashing | No charging or any battery is detected. |
| 5 | LED OFF | No battery or system over voltage. |
