Introduction

The CHCNAV HCE600 and HCE700 are lightweight, compact, professional Android 10 data collectors equipped with an alphanumeric keypad, specifically designed for surveying and mapping operations in the field. These rugged controllers offer extreme durability, long-term performance, and excellent sunlight readability, making them ideal for harsh outdoor environments. They feature robust connectivity options and are compatible with GNSS receivers and RTK network correction sources.

Setup

1. Initial Device Inspection

Upon receiving your HCE600/HCE700, carefully inspect the packaging and the device for any signs of damage. Ensure all components are present.

2. Powering On and Initial Charge

  1. Connect the device to the provided charger and allow it to charge fully before first use. The device is equipped with a 6240 mAh Li-ion battery.
  2. Press and hold the power button (usually red, located on the keypad) until the CHCNAV logo appears on the screen.

3. Screen Protector Removal

If a protective film is present on the screen, gently peel it off to ensure optimal display clarity and touch responsiveness.

4. Operating System Configuration

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the initial Android 10 setup, including language selection, Wi-Fi connection, and Google account setup (optional).

5. Software Installation (LandStar App)

The HCE600/HCE700 comes with a 90-day trial version of the CHCNAV LandStar Surveying and Mapping App. Ensure the app is installed and updated to the latest version for optimal performance. This app is crucial for data collection tasks.

6. Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi: Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network (dual-band 2.4G and 5G supported) for software updates, data transfer, and cloud services.
  • Bluetooth: Pair with your GNSS receivers or other Bluetooth-enabled accessories via Bluetooth 5.0.
  • 4G Modem: Insert a SIM card (if applicable) to utilize the built-in 4G cellular modem for reliable internet connection and RTK network correction sources in the field.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Navigation

The device runs on Android 10. Navigate using the touchscreen and the physical alphanumeric keypad. The keypad includes dedicated keys for APP, Fn, OK, and directional arrows for efficient field input.

2. Using the LandStar App

The LandStar Surveying and Mapping App is your primary tool for data collection. It supports CAD drawing management and base map display without lag. Utilize its integrated cloud services for easy data sharing and remote support.

3. GNSS RTK Surveying

When connected to a compatible GNSS receiver, the HCE600/HCE700 facilitates GNSS RTK stakeout surveys. The integrated nine-axis compass and gyro fusion algorithm help correct errors from magnetic interference, providing accurate heading information for precise measurements.

4. Display Readability

The 5.5-inch HD+ DragonTrail™ display offers up to 500 nits brightness, ensuring your project data, DXF base maps, and data tables are easily readable even in direct sunlight or adverse weather conditions.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Device

  • Wipe the screen and body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Ensure all ports (USB Type-C) are free from dust and debris.

2. Battery Care

  • Charge the device regularly. Avoid completely draining the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.

3. Maintaining Ruggedness
