5.2 Mounting the Laser Module

The module features an integrated dovetail guide rail design (115mm length) for smooth movement and easy height/focus adjustment. A sliding plate with multiple holes is provided for compatibility with various laser engraver machines.

5.3 Wiring and Connections

The laser module uses a 2EDG3.81 pluggable connector for its input port (VCC (DC24V), GND, TTL/PWM (0-5kHz)). Refer to the compatibility table for specific wiring solutions based on your machine's voltage and PIN configuration.

6. Operation

6.1 Power On and Indicators

Once connected, the module features a working status indicator:

  • Power indicator: Red when power supply is connected.
  • Signal indicator: Green when signal is received.

6.3 Focusing

The module is equipped with a fixed focus lever for easy adjustment of the focus distance according to different engraving and cutting requirements.

6.4 Air Assist

The built-in air assist airway helps achieve clean-cut edges and improves overall cutting performance. An air pump suggestion is: air pressure and capacity: ≥0.027kPa, 27L/min. Air tube: outer diameter 8mm and inner diameter 5mm.

7. Maintenance

  • Protection Window: The copper core protection lens is easy to clean and replace when contaminated or dusty. Regularly check and clean the lens to maintain optimal laser performance.
  • Cooling System: The dual-fan cooling system ensures excellent heat dissipation. Keep the fans free from dust and debris to maintain efficient cooling and reduce noise.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the laser module clean from dust and material residue. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Laser not firing or weak output:
    - Check power connections and ensure the power indicator is red.
    - Verify the signal indicator is green, indicating a signal is received.
    - Ensure the focus is correctly set for the material thickness.
    - Clean the protection lens if it is contaminated.
  • Overheating Alarm:
    - If the working temperature exceeds 55°C, an alarm will sound. Stop operation immediately.
    - Check for obstructions in the cooling fans or vents.
    - Allow the module to cool down before resuming operation.
  • Poor Cut Quality / Engraving:
    - Adjust focus settings according to material thickness.
    - Ensure air assist is properly connected and functioning to clear debris.
    - Verify laser power and speed settings in your software are appropriate for the material.
  • Compatibility Issues:
    - If adapting the module to a different machine, ensure the controller card and power supply are compatible with the module's voltage and PIN configuration (e.g., 12V/24V, 2PIN/3PIN). A driver adapter or external power supply may be required.

9. User Tips

  • Optimal Cutting: For best cutting results, especially on thicker materials, ensure your air assist system is fully functional. This helps clear smoke and debris, leading to cleaner edges and preventing charring.
  • Software Settings: When using LightBurn or similar software, remember to adjust laser offset settings (e.g., Y: -21mm for red cross line locating) for accurate positioning.
  • Upgrading for Speed: If you are looking for increased cutting speed, consider upgrading to a higher optical power module (e.g., from 20W to 40W or 60W). Always check compatibility with your existing machine's controller.
  • Material Testing: Always perform small test cuts or engravings on scrap material to fine-tune your power and speed settings before starting a larger project.
