Air pump suggestion: For optimal performance, an air pump with a pressure and capacity of ≥0.027kPa and 27L/min is recommended.
2. Laser Module Connection Description
2.1 PIN Definition
The built-in driver board features an XH-2.54 3PIN connector with the following pin definitions:
- PWM: (0/5-12V, 0-5kHz) - Yellow wire on the cable.
- GND: Ground - Black wire on the cable.
- VCC: (DC 12V or 24V) - Red wire on the cable.
The cable provided is 80cm long with yellow, black, and red wires corresponding to PWM, GND, and Power (+12V/24V) respectively.
2.2 Driver Adapter
The P-DA-01 Driver Adapter provides multiple connection points:
- Output A: 3PIN connector
- Output B: 3PIN connector
- Input A: 4PIN connector
- Input B: 4PIN connector
- Input C: 3PIN connector
- Input D: 2PIN connector
- DC Input: 12V or 24V power adapter
- Power Switch: EXT (External power supply) / INT (Internal power supply)
- Power indicator: Red when the power cable is connected correctly.
- TTL/PWM indicator: Green when the TTL/PWM cable is connected correctly.
2.3 Connection
Before connecting, ensure the laser module is compatible with the engraving machine.
A. Check the voltage parameter of your engraving machine.
Ensure the engraving machine voltage matches the laser module's requirements.
Machine Voltage | Laser Module Voltage | Solutions |
---|---|---|
12V | 24V | Driver Adapter + 24V Power Supply |
24V | 24V | Plug and Play |
Step 1: Connect the cable of your engraving machine to the corresponding input connector on P-DA-01.
Step 2: Connect the cable of the laser module to the Output A connector on P-DA-01.
Step 3: Connect a 24V power adapter to the DC Input connector on P-DA-01. Push the switch to the EXT position for external power supply.
B. Check the pin definition of the main board on your engraving machine.
Ensure your engraving machine's main board has "PWM", "GND", and "DC" ports.
If "A" & "B" are both compatible, connect the laser module directly to the main board of your engraving machine.
Only control board pin definition is not matched: If the connector definition on the engraving machine main board is not pin-to-pin, rearrange the wire sequence of the cable to match the pin definition on the main board. A common error is incorrect connection of Red (Power) and Yellow (PWM) wires. Ensure VCC, GND, and PWM are connected correctly.
Situation 2: Main board is not 3pin (e.g., 2pin): Use the P-DA-01 driver adapter.
- Step 1: Connect the cable of your engraving machine to the corresponding input connector on P-DA-01.
- Step 2: Connect the cable of the laser module to the Output A connector on P-DA-01.
3. Laser Module Reference Settings
3.1 For Cutting
The focal length of the LT-80W-AA-PRO laser module is 45mm.
When cutting, the focus should be located slightly lower than the surface of the material.
Reference settings for cutting:
Material Thickness | Plate Thickness (Focus Fixing Plate) |
---|---|
2mm | 7mm |
3mm | 7mm |
4mm | 5mm |
5mm | 5mm |
6mm | 5mm |
8mm | 4mm |
For example, to cut 8mm plywood, a 4mm focus fixing plate should be used. The diagram illustrates the laser module positioned above a material (wood) with a focus fixed plate. The distance from the module's base to the material surface is 38mm, and the laser's focal point is set 3mm below the material surface.
3.2 For Engraving
When engraving, ensure that the focus is located on the material surface.
Reference settings for engraving:
For example, use a 7mm focus fixing plate for engraving. The diagram shows the laser module positioned above the engraving material with a focus fixed plate. The distance from the module's base to the material surface is 38mm, and the laser's focal point is precisely on the material surface.
4. Precautions and Maintenance
4.1 Precautions
Always wear laser goggles to protect your eyes when using this laser module.
Ensure the air pump is turned on before starting cutting. Smoke can contaminate the lens if the air pump is off.
This laser module does not support hot plug. Hot plugging may cause damage to the laser module.
4.2 Maintenance
When the laser module is not used for a long time, ensure the lens is not polluted by dust.
When replacing the air nozzle, ensure your operation does not pollute the lens. Fingerprints or dust on the lens will weaken the output power of the laser module or even damage it.
If cutting ability decreases, the lens might be dirty. Use a clean alcohol swab to clean it.
The cleaning process involves avoiding dust and fingerprints on the lens. To clean, use a clean alcohol swab to gently wipe the lens. The diagram shows incorrect methods (dust on lens, touching lens with fingers) and the correct method (using a bottle with a dispenser and a swab to clean the lens).
